MM Concert Tour 2008 Autumn “Resonant Live”
I was complaining yesterday in the “H!P Predictions for 2009” thread about how little most of the lineup gets to actually do these days. Well, I watched the latest MM concert DVD this morning and I withdraw my complaint. All nine girls get to do a lot in the concert, esp. Reina, and I was very happy with it. They all look fantastic, they dance up a storm, there are nearly two dozen songs and over a dozen costume changes. Easily the best thing they’ve done since the 2007 "Aki ~Bon Kyu! Bon Kyu! Bomb~" concert. Just a fast-paced, good-looking, energetic show that was fun from start to finish.
It’s also the first time I’ve seen an H!P concert so soon after it was performed. This was recorded on Nov. 3, 2008, less than three months ago! I’m finally catching up.
Anyway, I did a whole writeup on my blog about it, if anyone’s curious to read more.

Doesn't Reina always get to do a lot? I'm not sure why you're writing about her as if it's a surprise.
Is there a set list up for this anywhere? I'm used to just pulling up the wiki at theppn, I have no idea where else to go for this kind of info. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hahaha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' />

Re: MM Concert Tour 2008 Autumn “Resonant Live”
^Really? I absolutely loved Take Off is Now... Do you not like it because it's a little too "sexy"? That's the most common complaint about the tune and the dance that I've heard so far. I love the sexy stuff (as long as it doesn't venture into the AKB zone) as I think it helps to showcase that the girls can do more than just jump around on stage acting cute.
I was a little disappointed with Eri's solo dance... I think she can do better. From what I've heard they cut it a little short on the recording day and it actually used to be longer and a bit more dynamic than it was.
I actually haven't watched the entire concert yet... I'm waiting until my DVD arrives. But I've seen maybe half of it. The half I saw was... good, but most weren't totally spectacular. I think it would have taken a LOT to upstage their Singles Daizenshuu tour, and while this doesn't, it's still enjoyable to watch.

I don't know... I didn't really like the vocal arrangement... I think that's what it was? I don't actually remember the song, but I remember not liking it at all.

Rightly or wrongly, my notes after most MM concerts I've seen in the last few years usually lament the fact that Reina isn't given enough to do. This was the first new one I've seen in a long time that didn't prompt such a note.
CDJapan has a track list for this concert. Here it is:
1. OPENING
2. Sono Bamen de Bibiccha Ikenaijan!
3. Mikan
4. MC
5. Pepper Keibu
6. VTR (member introduction)
7. TOP!
8. Yah! Aishitai!
9. MC
10. Inspiration
11. Ambitiouns! Yashinteki de Iijan
12. Purple Wind
13. Lemon Iro to Milk Tea (Reina Tanaka Main Ver)
14. MC
15. Tantantaan!/ MILKYWAY
16. Watashi no Miryoku ni Kizukanai Donkan na Hito
17. Guruguru Jump
18. Mushoku Tomei na Mama de
19. TAKE OFF IS NOW!
20. MC
21. Donimo Tomaranai
22. Koi no Dial 6700
23. MC
24. Soda! We're ALIVE
25. Onna ni Sachi Are
26. Roman - My Dear Boy -
27. Koko ni Iru ze!
28. MC
29. Resonant Blue
30. Ame no Furanai Hoshi dewa Aisenaidaro?
31. MC
32. Aozora ga Itsumademo Tsuzukuyona Mirai de Are!
BTW, I loved "Take Off is Now," but less for the particular quality of the song and more as a dance piece showcasing the skills and great looks of the three top performers in the group, Ai-chan, Risa and Reina. I loved the dresses, too.

I thought Take off is now was great... Now I want a studio version. I hope it will be a b-side or album filler in the future. The combo of Ai, Reina and Risa is awesome.
Re: MM Concert Tour 2008 Autumn “Resonant Live”
The costumes for the first part of the encore were really ugly. They looked like something a nun might wear.

I think they were going for the "gospel choir" look. Choir robes with a kinda gospel like song. I found it hilarious.

Re: MM Concert Tour 2008 Autumn “Resonant Live”
After reading the set list Myst post, I figured it was worth downloading since there were quite a few new songs and lots of album tracks/b-sides. I was really glad to see no RR21, no Love Machine, and no The Peace. I still wish they would distribute lines from older songs (Souda, Top, Koko ni, etc) a little better. Since only two current members were around for most of the older songs, they shouldn't have a problem finding lines to give to each member, even small ones. It wasn't as noticeable this concert though, since every member had a chance to shine.
Parts that left enough of an impression on me to actually comment on:
8. YAH!愛したい!(YAH! Aishitai) and 10.インスピレ-ション!(Inspiration!)
I think they did one or both of these songs at a concert not too long ago, maybe Yossi's grad? Either way, while the dance for Inspiration is pretty lame, they were fun songs and a nice example of how older songs should be used - pick rare ones, not the ones we've seen 500 times from both the original members and every lineup in between.
12. パープルウインド (Purple Wind) and 13. レモン色とミルクティ (all 6gen solo versions)
Great choice of members for Purple Wind. Koharu even sounded decent. This is how she should be singing all the time. I have kind of mixed feelings about Lemon Iro. It's a good sixth gen song overall, but it doesn't have much punch as a solo for any of them. The only person it was a good solo for was Sayu (though I didn't watch any all the way though), since it's not too much of a strain for her.
15.タンタンターン!<MilkyWay> (Tan Tan Tan) through 19. Take off is now!
This was a pretty interesting string of songs. It was nice to see MilkyWay perform live, and there was something really charming about how Kikka and Sayaka looked a little nervous - I guess it's a nice contrast to Koharu's usual over the top style. Aika's solo showed a lot of improvement on her part, and was pretty cute overall. Guru Guru JUMP was better than I was expecting. I think if it actually makes it to CD I'll like it even more. Takahashi sounds really pretty in Mushoku, but it's just so slow and boring. Her dress looked really rediculous, especially with those boots. Take off is now was a good song, but Reina felt really out of place in it. She used to be better about knowing when to sing cutesy and when to sing in a more mature voice, but there's no sign of that here.
As for the rest, the Cover Yuu songs were great, Ame no Furenai blah blah blah is still good but those outfits were hideous, and Indigo Blue Love is a perfect solo for Risa. It keeps her out of her man-voice for the most part. Overall it was a pretty good concert, much better than the last few.

Yeah, but they took them off after one number. That counts for something.

The solo lines seemed live to me, but the chorus sounded lip-sync'd.
Also, I'm pretty sure "Resonant Blue" was lip-sync'd. That bothered me. I wanted to hear that one live.
