Your workout music list
Hm where should this topic go?
I am trying to assemble a good song list for exercising. H!P songs are great because I can run with the image of Reina's skinny stick legs in my mind for motivation. But actually, a lot of songs I have are not...exactly...motivating. I have too many slow songs and Aya Matsuura 2.0 type slow-fast songs. Can anyone share their suggestions? H!P or otherwise.

Re: Your workout music list
When I work out, I generally tend to play anything I want on my mp3 player. I have the advantage of having most of my music be upbeat (I keep rereading that sentence trying to figure out how to improve its grammar to no avail <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />) , but even if it's not I don't really mind listening to it.
That being said, Matsuura's new song has been good to work out to, and for something outside of H!P, Namie has been putting out a lot of up-tempo catchy songs. Her PLAY and STYLE albums, lot of good workout songs. Perfume songs generally are good for me too, especially on GAME.
I don't know how helpful this is, I tend to listen to mostly j/kpop these days, so I'm probably suggesting things you already know about!

Re: Your workout music list
I'm assuming you meant fairly poppish stuff so I tried to stick within those boundaries, i'd say:
Dream - Night Of Fire
Move - Rock It Down (the Pop Aggressive Remix if you can find it, its a lot more hyper sounding)
Favorite Blue - Let Me Go
The Blue Hearts - Train-Train
Jitterin Jinn - Natsumatsuri
Hysteric Blue - Midnight Rave

Seconded, yes. Most Perfume songs are around 130bpm, which I've determined is the perfect speed-walking bpm. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /dance.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

At one point I found some H!P song that was perfect for my jogging speed but I forget it now. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/oiy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
On a side note, my regular walking speed syncs up perfectly with I Want to Break Free" by Queen.
Anyway, I tend to just listen to whatever I feel like, preferably something upbeat. I usually make a playlist and update it from time to time, cycle stuff in and out.

Re: Your workout music list
Ooh, power ballads are pretty good. Pride, Days (maybe), Together When... (only if you don't know the lyrics <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... pyeyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ryalot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />), Final Distance (I guess Distance will work too :noway), are some good examples. I like to mouth the words when I walk around. Namie Amuro's more up-tempo stuff is pretty good (ALARM, STROBE, So Crazy, WHAT A A FEEEEEEEEEEEEELING, Hello). Also, LOVE IS THE GREATEST THING is a great finisher. I love the songs on MORE!MORE!MORE! except for the Mutations of Life and even that's pretty good. And the up-beat stuff from TRICK (Driving, show girl, TABOO, Bling Bling Bring, etc.) Ooh, and mihimaru GT's mid- to up-tempo things (diverge, Shiawase ni Narou, Girigiri HERO, Tsuyoku Tsuyoku, Yakusoku, H.P.S.J., Gazen Yeah!, I should Be So Lucky).
Also, you need Utada Hikaru's Traveling, too. Like, 8 copies.

Re: Your workout music list
I've just been putting my ipod on shuffle while I've been doing treadmill exercise since I've been too lazy to make a playlist, but I kind of feel like it's a pretty personal thing. I've been tending to skip over ballads and generally low tempo songs, but just anything that has a beat doesn't necesarily work for me. Songs that I really get into, no matter what the tempo, usually end up being the ones I don't skip over. I think in general it's good to pick songs that you really love, never get sick of, and can even feel like dancing/singing along to rather than just anything that has a good walking/running tempo. Those usually make me feel more motivated, and help me to focus on the song rather than looking at the clock constantly XD

Re: Your workout music list
I also have a special playlist for exercising or running.
Just a few:
YUI - Rolling Star
ZARD - My Friend
L'Arc-en-ciel - Driver's High (when it's time for the turbo! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':weeeh:' /> )
Erika Sawajiri - FREE
Aya Kamiki - Ashita no tame ni
C-ute - Koero! Rakuten Eagles
Morning Musume - Souda! We're Alive
But I think the perfect song to boost my legs is 'Dreamin' ~Gatas Brilhantes H.P. Cheer Song~' by Ongaku Gatas.
Ongaku Gatas are very suitable when exercising...

Re: Your workout music list
I haven't worked out since last summer (and gained weight though being lazy =/ ), but I used to always start with warming up to the full opening Haruhi Suzumiya and trying the dance somewhat, despite having a strong dislike for dancing of people to anime stuff (with the rare exception of cute girls <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /crazy.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> ).
It really heats up your body basically everywhere.
As for other stuff, mostly Perfume and some random stuff I like at the time.

If that's your turbo song, I'd hate to see what would happen if you had my playlist on my metal oriented days!
I'm probably the worst here about workout playlists. I make a new one everyday, but there are three "master" lists that I pull the songs from. Two are "pop" oriented, one is more skewed towards idol pop, the other towards more traditional popular music, and the other is made up of rock songs. I have to have all three because my moods change with each day. I tend to make really long playlists and I'll jump around the songs as I'm working out. And on a side note, does anyone know why my ipod's playlists are on permanant shuffle? It's starting to piss me off.
Pulling from my playlist for tonight... (I'm in a poppy mood)
Cagayake Girls! (K-ON! OP)
Don't say "Lazy" (K-ON! ED)
MY BOY (Buono)
Sakura Rock (Cherryblossom)
Believe (Arashi)
all of base ball bear's singles
Taboo (Kumi)
Namida x3 (Aya Hirano)
Last Angel (Kumi)
Gee (SNSD)
Bat Country (Avenged Sevenfold)
Hitohira no hanabira (Stereopony)
all of GO!GO!7188's best album
evolution (the only Ayu song I like)
Haruka Kanata (Asian Kungfu Generation)
Happiness (Arashi)
Mao (Onmyouza)
wuthering heights (eugene)
The kids aren't alright (the offspring)
Good Morning Baltimore, You can't stop the beat, Without Love (Hairspray broadway musical)
innovator (takui)
up to date (takui)
pierce (takui)
BYE BYE BYE (takui)
cobalt blue (the back horn)
eye of the tiger (survivor)
flashdance (irene cara)
8675309 (tommy tutone)

You have the i-pod classic, right? When you're on a song, press the center button 3 times. It'll bring up three different options of shuffling: Off, songs, and albums. Just turn it off by moving with your finger counter-clockwise.
My i-pod workout list mainly consists of H!P, AAA, AKB48-related, and a handful of korean songs.

Songs like DRIVER'S HIGH are heavy enough for me now. I think that, when exercising, a cool feeling is more important than raw strenght.

Haha. I like poppy feelings when I do cardio, but when it comes to weightlifting, nothing like some heavy music to make you feel like a man! I never lifted weights until now, but I can understand why the meatheads become meatheads. It makes you feel powerful to be lifting them and feel your muscles burn. And add that music and it's like UNF UNF UNF I AM THE MAN YYYEEEEEAAAAAHHHHH and then the koolaid guy busts through the door.

Re: Your workout music list
Right now, it's a mix of H!P and stuff that people have recently introduced me to. A lot of the stuff I listen to nowdays comes from a close friend with whom I spend a lot of time. She likes rock and some other stuff: for example, Boom Desjardins (a kick ass pub singer from her native Quebec), Papa Roach, Bon Jovi, Nirvana, stuff that Adam Lambert sang on American Idol, and so forth. A fling who recently fell into disfavor tipped me off to a few cool DJs I'd never heard of before -- for example, this chick.

Currently I'm listening to some generic techno/house/whatever shit music while working out, because I've signed up for a fitness center (which is otherwise quite good). =/

Re: Your workout music list
I prefer, personally, things with a really strong, driving beat - so a lot of techno or electronic-influenced stuff - that, and music that makes me happy. I tend to make a playlist of my favorite up-beat songs, because if I'm enjoying & grooving to the music, I'm more likely to ignore the massive burning lung pain. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/meh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
Warning, though: depending on the type of person you are, you could totally end up hating all your favorite songs, because now they'd remind you of all the unpleasant feelings of working out?
If you're into rap or hip-hop with... um... swagger? It's good to listen to that too, because it kind of makes you feel... like you have attitude? This song, for example. Ugh, I love Epik High.
