Although I'm pretty sure I've seen them forget that Hawaii is in the U.S. before. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />
I'm pretty sure they think LA is its own country to tell you the truth.
Yossie called LA a country on an episode of Utaban once. That caused her balloon to pop

Re: So MM's coming to the US
We've set up a plan so that Morning Musume can be met in many parts of the venue.
I hope this means that, like people were saying about previous Guest of Honors at AX, Morning Musume will be involved in other aspects of the convention than just the concert. Two seconds of hand-shaking event? OH YEAH
Those 2 seconds are totally worth it Enough that I'll be reserving several more copies of their next single.
Still 6 copies of Naichau Kamo left if anyone wants to claim them.
Edit: Make that five as another one of my friends wants to claim one.

Re: So MM's coming to the US
I'm a bit late to put my two cents in, but I think they couldn't have picked a better time to come to the US. I mean BoA and Utada are both releasing their english albums this month, and Ayumi Hamasaki's Rule will be played during the movie of Dragonball Evolution next month. So I think this is the best time to at least have some exposure to the US. Maybe other Japanese (or other asian) artists will follow suit. Maybe this is the beginning of an "asian invasion."

How about back when the lineup was actually interesting?

If only... but I can't imagine it. Especially if you're associating it, in any form, with the "Latin Invasion" of the late 1990's. That was a completely different set of rules altogether. Those artists were all singing in English, and doing so quite fluently. (Well aside from Shakira, I suppose, haha). And even in the case of their Spanish appeal, keep in mind that Spanish is the second-biggest language in America (surpassing usage by all of the other non-English languages combined). And then it was playing to the "exotic appeal" thing, and in American pop culture it's easier to sell Latin celebs than it is Asian ones. Asian celebrities, whether American-born or from overseas, have very rarely seen big success in American pop culture. It's unfortunate, and very unfair, but it also doesn't seem to be changing very quickly. Even nowadays, it was seen as earth-shaking when a couple of Korean stars from the show Lost were actually getting mainstream exposure. And in many of their interviews, they spoke directly to this same subject. How in the American entertainment business, Asian folks are one of the groups that still never get their fair shake. And with so many Asian folks living in America, it doesn't seem fair that Hollywood refuses to represent such a huge faction of its consumer base.
