Week 1

So better than Onna ni sachi are and worse than Resonant Blue. Probably about 3-4k for the next week. Not really a bad showing for the girls.

Re: Naichau Kamo sells sorta well
Not bad at all. Ever since the past year (?) or so, Oricon sales figures have been decreasing like crazy, imo. It seems like a lot of the general public in Japan is downloading a lot more now than actually buying the physical CD compared to last year (I have no real solid proof to base that off of; it's what I noticed). As for right now, idol groups' sales figures won't be as affected due to wotas, imo. Same with JE groups too. Definite agree. Does Oricon chart digital downloads or are those always just reported by the labels? I think those are becoming just as important, if not more, than physical sales.

Re: Naichau Kamo sells sorta well
No digital downloads are reported by Oricon. It's definitely way behind the curve in its approach to reporting numbers, and the results are almost meaningless for the music world as a whole.
What's the first thing you do when you return home after a concert?

The single dropped really bad in the second week. 45 on Tuesday, but I can't find Wednesday's ranking. :X

They don't have a separate download raking at all? Maybe I'm just thinking of Music Station. It's sort of a hard thing to incorporate though. You could really only track downloads through official programs like iTunes. You could argue that even including that isn't a full measure of how popular a group is or how well they're doing. It's really hard to measure with downloads. If someone buys a CD, it's pretty certain they like the song or are at least pretty intrigued by something the artist does - otherwise why spend the money. But with a download, even the ones that cost money (since they're only $1.00-ish) could be someone just testing out a bunch of random music. I do agree the the music industry needs to adapt to the digital age more, but it's such a hard thing to do =/

I'm confused why you're at JE but not at other idol groups, if they're all propelled by the same force (wotas) as you speculate. I would disagree though. MM's sales figures don't really fluctuate in a huge way from single to single, so I'd agree they're basically propelled by wota. But JE groups (and plenty of other artists) singles do. Singles that are tied in to popular dramas tend to sell way higher than a single by the same group with no tie-ins - that's not wota power, that's the group/artist actually bringing in new fans through TV appearances.

I think the numbers are accurate in the relative sense. A more popular group/singer would sell more physical copies and it would be proportional to the number of digital copies.
Now to be honest 3rd for the week is pretty damn good.

Ok don't know if my post from earlier was deleted or if it just didn't go through. In case is was deleted, which it would be nice to have some warning if that was gonna happen, I'll just link to my livejournal entry about the experiences I had at the Naichau Kamo event.
Also the Event V and the Single V are completely different. I bought the Event V and it is solo close up versions of all 9 girls. No clue how to rip dvds though.
Here's the link^^

Re: Naichau Kamo sells sorta well
Just read you entry about the event Alita.
It's so cute the girls were grinning like crazy and excited over ONE foreign girl. It's going to be an insane experience in LA for them I'm sure. And probably very memorable for them as well.
Do you happen to remember who has Miki and Hitomi's lines in Kanashimi Twilight by any chance?
I want your shugo chara bag. D: It sounds cute.

Psh. I'm sure if you counted digital downloads, anything idol related would fucking skyrocket. I mean, if your non-wota i'm sure you wouldn't be caught dead buying a Berryz Album out of the store.

I agree with Zaku on this. A lot more people would buy this on and online store than risk going into a music store and embarrassing themselves.
Utada Hikaru doesn't sell that well with physical copies either but her digital sales are really realllllyyy high for some reason.

Utada has a lot of foreign fans and their sales never count.
