I've gotten kind of obsessed. I've always liked Wink but it is kind of unsettling to see these clips. It is like idols really are a stock formula recycled over and over with slightly different girls. The only thing I'll say is, a lot of the older idols can actually sing. The bad costumes, school uniforms, cutesy songs, and bangs never seem to change.
I'm sorry I can't read Kanji what are the songs to that last one? Especially the first one that goes "Fresh x3"
BTW: Anyone got Momoe Yamaguchi's Playback pt 2, Candies "Haru Ichiban" or some Pink Lady, Peanuts, (ipod compatible)
Anyone know who sang pretty little baby (kawaii baby). Its a connie Francis cover but I heard the Sexbomb Dancer's sing it,,, then I heard it was by a woman name Kayoko Moriyama but I'm not sure....
Here's where I heard it (Don't know the ladies singing) : Pretty Little Baby 1
Sexbomb Girls: Pretty Little Baby 2 Forgive the pictures... some might be borderline NSFW.
I also Like these covers... : Lipstick On Your Collar

Re: 1980s Japanese idols
I uploaded a Momoe album some time ago, hopefully it still works. It's located in the Exclusive section.
Now if you can get into the exclusive section, I'd be happy to upload Candies-Haru Ichiban and I have Momoe Yamaguchi's version of Kawaii Baby. I had some Peanuts, but it's somewhere else and I don't feel like finding them. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hawhaw:' />

This is a place where a signature goes. Enjoy some Airi instead.
Re: 1980s Japanese idols
I was at Book Off last night looking for albums by Teresa Teng, Aki Yashiro, and a real blast from the past, Hibari Misora (think Edo nightlife during the Tokugawa Shogunate). I found an album by Momoe Yamaguchi that I didn't have. I listened to it at home and the chief problem with it is that it's filled with songs I already have on a bunch of other Momoe albums. (How many copies of "Playback, Part 2" do I need?)
The best Momoe finds I've had were a pair of 2-disc sets of live stage shows she did. In one she sings a lot of old American pop and rock 'n' roll songs--in Japanese--and in the other she sings a lot of American show tunes, mostly in Japanese, including songs from "Gypsy," "My Fair Lady," "The Sound of Music," and the movies, "Mary Poppins" and "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang." She sings "I Could Have Danced All Night," from "My Fair Lady," in English. I particularly like her versions of the Animals' "House of the Rising Sun," and Sound of Music's "Climb Every Mountain." What a great voice she had.
Also, I have a DVD of Momoe's final concert, from October 21, 1980, bought at a Chinatown store.
The Uta Doki Pop Classics DVDs offer a good window into 1980s J-pop. I don't have the list handy or I'd supply some names. Certainly, Momoe, Teresa Teng, Anri, Seiko Matsuda, and Akina Nakamori are all well represented, but there are quite a few other original artists of note.

Re: 1980s Japanese idols
Bumping this.
I've been reeeaaallly interested in Onyanko Club lately. The sailor fuku song really turned me off from them because the terrible-ness of the song combined with all the girls looking scared to death and on the verge of crying while forcing a smile, but it seems like the rest of their songs and their soloists aren't nearly as terrible!
It was after I got linked to a performance of Otome Gokoro ni Jiyuukata, whiiich isn't on Youtube anymore for some reason, but man, it was really cool. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> They have a reeeaaallly idol-y feel about them that's really nice. And I've seen a few clips of their show, and it has the same feeling as Hello! Morning did.
So now I'm downloading a bunch of their albums. Does anyone know much about them?
Also, did anyone ever download that group of Nakamori Akina songs I uploaded?

Re: 1980s Japanese idols
I know a bit about Onyanko, but probably not as much as some other people here. It was the soloists who sprung from the group that really clicked with me. It's so huge a topic, since it spawned so many girls, I'm not sure what you want. Since you're already getting into the main group itself, I guess I'll say that two of subgroups were prolific and talented: the duo Ushiroyubi Sasaregumi, and the trio Ushirogami Hikaretai.
A good sampler for the soloists is Onyanko Club's final album "Circle." The first disc is a bunch of the graduated girls doing solo songs, most of whom had a nice little solo career for a few years.
(Also, I guess you could check out Musukko Club, the boy version of Onyanko. I don't know anything except they didn't last long.)

What's the first thing you do when you return home after a concert?

Re: 1980s Japanese idols
I read somewhere in this post that someone already ripped every single and album from Chisato Moritaka.
Please post them!

I have been trying to do (but not done because other idol pages been in my way) a semi-huge project on Onyanko Club on this Wiki. Here are a few videos to profile some of the members:
Kawai Sonoko with Onyanko Club - Sayonara wa Iwanaide (Kawai is soooooo cute, vocally and appearance, and see the girls being so candid is a plus).
Kawai Sonoko - JESSY (My favorite Kawai single drom later on when she started to write her own stuff and start being serious)
Fukunaga Satomi - Heart ni Ignition (I hated Satomi when I first saw her in Sailor Fuku but love her when she got her solo career and shed that ugly boy image.]
Jounouichi Sanae with Onyanko Club - Onyanko Club no Abunai~i Torimochou (Thyane b-side to Ajibashi, a very awesome single. Sanae was Onyanko Club's enka singer and still sings today. If you listen to some of the early albums and singles, she has that real mature voice).
Iwai Yukiko - 25 Cent no Mangetsu (My favorite single because of the drum solos in the song.)
Watanabe Minayo - TOO ADULT (a staple song for Onyanko Club)
Ikuina Akiko - Mugiwara de Dance (Akko-chan is my favorite Onyanko Club and if anyone loves her, I have her only two original albums)
Onyanko Club - Kaiin Bangou no Uta (This is OC's JKM and made three versions of this on albums and countless in concerts. If you wanna to know OC a bit more, here it is! Here is another version of the song but earlier recorded with the original 33 members for the recording, some have graduated after this).
Kickbutt Kudo Shizuka Dance Melody
Yoshizawa Akie - Naze? no Arashi (Used as the ending for the Sukeban Deka series)
Check out No. 14 Tomikawa Harumi because she never really had a solo singing career but the backbone of the club. She was made lead in several songs but sadly, no solo career. If AKB comes to NYC, Akimoto better come with his wife (Takai Mamiko, #16).
Messages from the Club members in 2002 (Part of their 2002 reunion for the single Shoumikogen).
A cute little clip with Onyanko Club performing Ushiroyubi Sasaaregumi in Sukeban Deka (which Yoshizawa Akie starred in)
A Special Nyan Nyan Segament with the Graduated members
A "What are you doing now" segement from the 90s
BTW, if you wanna get into any 80s and 90s idol, check out these people's youtube pages:
http://www.youtube.com/user/TAKAP11edb2
http://www.youtube.com/user/TAKAP11LD
And some recommendations:
Seventeen Club 1st Single (Kudo Shizuka was in this before she was in Onyanko Club. A handful of OC members tried out in the Miss Seventeen Contest 1984 but only Kudo andbe two other girls won.)
Sukeban 1st vs. 2nd vs 3rd (Alukeban l three Saki meet together for the first time if you are a Sukeban Deka fan)
young Eriko Imai performing Kudo's Mugo n...Iroppoi, very cute
Some Chinese Unit in the 90s (Shh, off topic but It's Momoko meets Miyabi meets Risako!)
Seiko Matsuda and NKOTB Donnie - Right Combination (To follow up someone in Secede Santa thread, Seiko did have a English album in 1990. Like Utada's Exodus, it failed but some of the singles did chart in Canada.)
I was thinking this past week that Japanese tv show should have the Best Ten back on. That was show was awesome with the elebraote sets, having the idols perform out in public, and the best one, putting the idols in a raging blizzard to perform (Beat that AKB and Morning Musume!). Any who, got some questions: I know this is early 90s but has

Re: 1980s Japanese idols
God damn. Thanks. I think I know what I'll be doing for the next few hours.
I don't really have a favorite member right now, but from that Kaiin Bangou no Uta performance (Which I actually found and watched like 10 times a week ago. Why? No idea.), Nitta Eri sparked my interest, along with a few others. From the few Yuuyake Nyan Nyan clips I've seen, I'm starting to like Ruriko too.
Trying really hard not to like Kawai Sonoko, though. Her personality and voice are so ridiculous and fake, but god damn if that girl isn't cute as hell.
I also saw what seemed to be a digest of their final concert, which had a solo performance from Iwai Yukiko, who is also fucking cute as hell.

Yeah, I used to dislike Kawai somewhat. But, she got to me because she tries to be all serious and etc. but it's really cute in reality.

Isn't it the same for Number 5, Nakajima Miharu? She was the first I ever noticed in my Onyanko travels. But did she really do anything after doing "Jaa ne" and leaving?
And, Trike, does this video make you enjoy Sailor Fuku more?

Yeah, sorry. My computer randomly does actions without my knowledge sometimes (Might of hit a button or something). Anyways, my questions were:
Does anyone have Seiko Matsuda's Rock 'n' Rouge? And has anyone seen DVD rips or is on DVD for this television show?

Can anyone post Chisato Moritaka's albums and singles? I really like her music and I cannot seem to find her CD's anywhere.

If you stop being annoying and asking every five hours, you can get results like this or this or this (if you are so desperate, try that or just a best hits album).

No I am not being annoying. I am simply asking as everyone else is for a specific artist. Thank you very much but your results didn't help at all.

I don't know how you can tell if you're being annoying on your own (Especially when you are. Thanks for joining our forum just to beg for people to give you download links.), but try jpmp3.com
You have to sign up to get to the good stuff.

As everyone else is? We're not asking for specific artists. Most of us have been discussing 80s idols and providing links to youtube to show off to other people who might not know the artist. In fact, I'd say this thread is about giving, rather than asking.

What's the first thing you do when you return home after a concert?

I am not trying to be mean but you need to understand that, to my knowledge, not everyone has the singles and albums in a digital format like Morning Musume does. People don't really have much of the old stuff/it's harder to find things in digital a form from older artists because like Chisato before 1989, everything was released in a vinyl format (a bit sticky to rip off). Your best bet, if you are very desperate, go buy off Yahoo! Japan. I saw a nice lot today that has 30 singles and albums (vinyl, 8cm, and regular) for about $120. Yes, it's kinda expensive after all the little fees go into but it's worth it (I bought my Rakutenshi album off Y!J auctions because I knew no one would have the album). The lots are pretty cheap too (I got a 100 CD set from Y!J, after all the fees, for about $1 per CD).

Another favorite from Onyanko Club (Kokusho Sayuri), Valentine Kiss! You may remember this from one of the Lucky Star outro karaoke songs.

BTW, am I the only one who LOVES 80s fashion in all its hideousness?!

Sorry to break it to you honey but you are being annoying. 1) Because you are constantly begging for downloads. 2) You are nagging everybody else instead of contributing or introducing a specific artist. 3) I don't even know why you joined the forum in the first place to beg for downloads.
Try Limewire, Megupload or Rapidshare. Also you can try the Oldies But Goodies blog. If that doesn't satisfy you then I don't know what to do. Go get a job and earn some money if you want to buy Moritaka's albums and singles.
Just don't come here to be a begger, okay?

Yo I don't know who you are or where you stand to enforce rules but you are cool as hell and you should stay here.
Not fond of the name though!

Despite all the depressing stuff that has been going on today, this is a bit entertaining. (sorry for not posting something on topic!)
