Futurama -- Final movie out

Post by Vikitty »

The finale movie, Into the Wild Green Yonder, is officially out on DVD, though it was (again) leaked much earlier onto the interwebz.

So go watch it now and then get back to me. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Spoilers!

Soooo much better than Bender's Game, although just about anything would be better than BG. Not as good as TBWABB but still very enjoyable. I liked how the main focus was on the three main characters, although the secondary characters got time to shine as well. Some of my favorite jokes include Fry molding his tinfoil hat into different shapes, the poker tournament, the BIG scene with almost every character ever on the show, and many more but I'm being concise here.

Obviously one of the main themes of the final movie was trust, and the relationship between Fry and Leela. I found the ending where she finally returned his love did seem a bit tacked on but not out of character -- it seems like a scene that would have fit better immediately following BBS (after Leela found out that Fry was Lars) but overall it was very sweet. If Futurama does come back in whatever form and they retcon that ending away AGAIN (like they did in BBS after TDHAIP) I will have to choke a bitch.

I'm not gonna read the spoilers, but is the series actually over? I thought Comedy Central contracted the team to create new episodes next season?

After researching, it seems like FOX is considering a new season of production.

I wanna see the fourth movie, but I haven't seen the third one yet and they all seem to go in some kind of order.

Yeah, FUX -- I mean FOX -- is considering it but who knows. The episodes on Comedy Central are actually the four movies broken down into four pieces each for a total of 16 episodes in Season 5.

Bender's Game doesn't really add anything to the plot; there is really only one bit in ITWWY that calls back to BG which is how they're using Whale Oil as a substitute for Dark Matter (Nibbler poo) now

Futurama is still going ? I never thought it would run this long.

Besides, I thought it got canceled already several years ago and there's just re-runs on tv, at least over here in central europe it's not really popular.

Ap2000, they got the green light to do four direct-to-DVD movies, feature length (about 80minutes long each) which were split up into episodic format for reruns on Comedy Central.

Well, considering how the recent straight to DVD movies were completely shit and never even came close to the awesomeness that was the TV series, it's no big loss.

That's because they took three or four episodes and simply alternated between the stories rather than one cohesive storyline. Really.. why didn't they just make 3 or 4 episodes per DVD. The pacing of these stories was terrible.. not necessarily that the individual stories were.
