DS Game Help

Post by Shoujo Q »

I got my mother addicted to playing the DS. So much so that she stole my DS and now I'm back to playing my old crappy one. Anyway, her birthday is coming up and besides getting her a new DS (because I want mine back!), I want to get her a game or two. She's been playing Clubhouse Games over and over again, finished Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir, Professor Layton and the Curious Village, and plays Mahjong once and awhile. Though her favorite is the Clubhouse Games, but she says she gets bored of it sometimes because she just clears the Stamp stage over and over again. She doesn't have the best hand/eye cordination and she can only handle using the stylis so anything that uses buttons is out.

Does anyone know of any games you think she might like? I'm not sure what's new or fits into what I'm looking for.

The Phoenix Wright games are nice, long, and you can do it all with the stylus. You could get her Jake Hunter if quality isn't an issue <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hahaha:' /> Quick Spot is a nice find the differences game, but a little shallow. Peggle Dual Shot is a good puzzle game.

Your mom is cute. I wish my mom played games with me. I tried out the Layton game but was very disappointed with it. Maybe I'll try it again.

Since I only get my games illegally (ha), I don't really have an idea what is new and hot. My only suggestion might be Zelda Phantom Hourglass, esp if she likes puzzle-oriented stories. It is very maze/tactic oriented with some fighting stuff and a few cut scenes to carry the story along. The characters are cute and funny. Also, it is old enough now that you might find a used one for less money. It was so much fun to play and not too rpg'y for new gamers.

Phoenix Wright vote seconded!! I love those games <3 And it sounds like it would be right up her alley if she likes Mystery Case Files.

Something like Trace Memory might be good for her, too.

Maybe Animal Crossing? It's a nice relaxing game that only uses the stylus, plus there's so many things to do it could last her for months. Unless she doesn't like cute animals talking to her. I tried to get a town full of penguins but the meaner I was to the non penguin residents the more they liked me. I resorted to sending them death threats and pounding them on the head with my golden bludgeon device only to have them love me more. I can't seem to figure out their penchants for abuse. What's worse is I managed to finally drive an annoying bunny to the point of leaving only to have the stupid cow I kicked out before her come back. Damn I hated those bunnies and cows. All they do is ramble some annoying ass shit.

The Brain Age games got a 50-something year old coworker of mine to buy a DS. Perhaps any of the "touch generation" games would work. Picross might be good if she likes puzzle games. Or maybe Puzzle Quest. rhythm heaven? Anything peddled by Lisa Kudrow, I think that's who it is, man those commercials are so annoying who the hell plays games like that. Why can't we get cool celebrities? Even Australia got better celebrities, I think. I don't know. But they probably did. Australia is full of animals and bugs that can kill you, I bet they had some hardcore people pimping the DS.

As far as adventure games go, I know there's been a ton of recent old school PC ports lately that I keep meaning to pick up.
