Sorry to bump an old topic, buuuut... Tsunku will be there as well, and a guest judge at AX Idol.

He must be trying to ride on the fame of that one interview about Rhythm Heaven. Either that or he just wants to be there personally to watch over hid protegees.

It's amusing thinking of him as a judge at AXidol, he can see just deep the otaku culture runs even in America.

Holy HELL. I was telling Ukyo earlier how much better this event would be if Tsunku made some kind of appearance at AX as well, but it was more a joke than anything. He better do some kind of meet and greet stuff.

Aaaaah the more I hear about the whole thing the more I want to try to be able to go. I've never been a huge fan of Tsunku in general (nothing against him though), but he has the potential to be such an interesting guest, especially if he were to do some kind of Q&A. Plus it makes the entire AX Idol thing so much more interesting. I imagine usually, they just pick whichever person does the best. But that's not Tsunku's style! Will he be in there picking the girl that's cute, can't sing to save her life, but seems like she'd try really really hard? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':joyful:' /> Joking aside, it's pretty damn cool that they included him in that.

This makes me so incredibly upset there's no way I can go. Why couldn't this all happen two years from now, when I'd be already IN California! I'm just so amused by the whole thing. It's like when Tarantino judges Idol. Complete mindfuck!

I really want to know how this whole conversation went down and how they managed to get this really rich, famous man to go to America and hang out with a bunch of nerds. How are they describing Anime Expo to these poor people?

Tickets are sold for guaranteed seats, but all the main events are technically free.

You don't need a loophole, tons of H!P songs are related to anime.

Unfortunately, I don't think Tsunku is judging the auditions, just the finals. And unless you're really amazing at singing H!P, I'm not sure they'd go for Honto no Jibun or Koi*Kana. But that's just me.

RR21 & Yeah! Meccha were in Daigassou! Band Brothers, but since you said rhythm games didn't count, I guess they won't make it through. Koi no Dance Site was in Ouendan. Well if Space Venus counts, that lets a few MM songs in.

I wonder how strict they are, because Rhythm Tengoku is by Tsunku and it had an actual soundtrack, so it's not like someone is just singing random DDR songs, they had actual pop group songs on it. I'm not saying let someone sing Chorus men or Moai song...

Damn, I'm so sad I can't go. The MM girls are all right and all, but Tsunku is awesome. I know I can't sing well, but I'd do it all the same just to see what he'd say. But knowing me I'd forget to sing and do something lame like asking if I could shake his hand and give a pat on the back for a job well done. At least I'm past the idol prime so I could just have fun with it. Some of those younger girls must be creaming their panties and have some scary ideas...

I have the same facination with Simon. What sort of insult would he give me? I must try it once just to see. Hehehe

I don't think it's that strict. A quick youtube search turns up a girl singing Endless Story by Yuna Ito, as well as a girl singing Rose from Nana starring Mika Nakashima

Yep. They specifically said this year that live-action stuff and music games and the like is NOT allowed. It was a rule last year as well, just not as strictly enforced. They just let Endless Story slide, probably because the singer was practically guaranteed to be a finalist anyway.

But uh... the song Rose was used in the Nana anime. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... stling.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':joyful:' />

There's also a semi-strict 4-minute time limit for all songs this year. But yes, like Peach said, they want songs actually used in a show or game; songs that are representative of its source.

Yea, I know. I wasn't really saying you have to sing MM to catch his attention. The conversation originally stemmed from the statement that his presence would cause an influx of bad MM karaoke. Maybe not so much, though, unless people are aiming for the really obscure.

I'm looking forward to it, too. People should keep in mind, though, that if you want to enter a casual singing contest without the grand prize of possibly getting to sing anime music, there's a regular karaoke contest as well that you can enter just as easily.

I just realized that the song I wanted to do actually has a karaoke track, which is extremely rare for TAKUI, so obviously he wants me to sing Pierce for his friend Tsunku.
