McDonald's Giveaway a F***ing Disaster

Post by Shoujo Q »

Those McDonald's kids' meals may be getting a little too spicy. McDonald's is currently handing out a collection of Kidz Bop CDs in Happy Meals, but there are some grown-ups who aren't too happy about it.

On Monday afternoon, a grandmother in Boaz, Ala., took her two grandchildren to McDonald's for lunch, and the CDs were their bonus from the Big McD. But, after listening to the disc, the grandmother was shocked with something she heard in the disc's cover of pop singer Gavin DeGraw's hit "I Don't Wanna Be."

"It's got a phrase in it that I don't think's appropriate for children," she said.

She's not alone in that observation.

"In the song the word is supposed to be looking, but they're saying the f-word with the -ing on the end," said one concerned parent.

Both women said they feared the children would share the song with other children, and that's a worry.

"If my little grandson learns it, he's going to go to school and sing it," the grandmother said. "It's going to be terrible, because if they listen to the CD, they can hear what we hear."

"I have a 5-year-old and that's the last thing I need is for him to go off to school and say that word," an Alabama parent said.

In a written statement, McDonald's spokeswoman Danya Proud said: "Kidz Bop carefully chooses the songs featured on all Kidz Bop CDs, including those songs in the current Happy Meal, to ensure both the subject matter and lyrics are appropriate for our youngest guests."

"We greatly value the high standards that families hold us to, and we would never include a lyric, word, or song that is inappropriate to children of any age." Proud said.

A TV station in Huntsville, Ala., WAFF 48, reported that the Boaz McDonald's has pulledall of the No. 6 CDs from its Happy Meals. The reporter there said staff members in the station's newsroom listened to "I Don't Wanna Be," and agreed that the song sounded a bit questionable.

Original article has audio of both sections in thesong.

I listened to it, my mother listened to it, a friend listened to it. We didn't hear it. D:

Does anyone else hear it?

This is kinda like finding Jesus on a piece of toast, one person sees it, then they ask someone if they see it and they point it out and then you got a whole bunch of people believing you. And then you show it to me and I'll be like wtf I see a big patchy blob. D:

This is pretty rediculous, it doesn't sound any different than the original song. The only way you could possibly hear it is if you blend the "of" into "looking"...a lot. But even still, the vowel sound in fxxk and look are pretty different.

I heard "I'm tired of looking around", but I have no idea if that's what the actual lyrics are.

I think the accent of the kids bop singer makes it sound more like a short U sound.

Perhaps headphone/speaker quality impacts whether one hears fuckin' or lookin'

Whatever, H!P fans hear happy dinosaur vaginas. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /noway.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':weeeh:' />

I think it has more to do with the problem that KIDS are singing the song and everyone knows KIDS ARE RETARDED. I bet most were off beat/didn't remember the words and that's how we get that huge clusterfuck of sound. And people hear/see what they want to see. Remember that lady that heard "FUH-K" on the catapiller alphabet game (you had to press f followed by k pretty quickly and how the hell would a baby know that fuck is a word if the parents weren't using it?) or the mom that heard "ISLAM IS THE LIGHT" on that one DS game? I wonder how many would have "noticed" if a news story wasn't telling them to listen for the word on that song.

I don't know why kids can't listen to the originals, but I am amused they covered that one song about doing crystal meth by that one band that I can't remember right now. WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE? Or did they change the lyrics to eating cotton candy or something, hahaha

And if I have to listen to all star ONE MORE TIME....!!!! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... dammit.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':weeeh:' />

Yeah, this sort of thing is always happening. People are stupid.

Meh.

I heard my 6-year-old cousin singing "Low" ("Shorty got them apple bottom jeans...", that song) the other day, so some overly paranoid parents freaking out about "of looking" sounding like "fucking" is the least of our troubles.
