Morning Musume's Love Machine remade into After School's Dream Girl

Post by nihonjin_berryz »

Dream Girl" is a digital single which is a remake of Morning Musume "Love Machine" song and it will serve as the theme song to the Mnet show "대 동경소녀". The show is a Korea-Japan joint production organized by Morning Musume management company.

After School was chosen to do the theme song because many of those who had auditioned for the show had used After School's songs and passed the audition therefore causing the organizers to have great interest in After School.

Another reason why After School was chosen was also because After School is the Korean version of Morning Musume following the admittance and graduation concept and it was only apt the Korean Morning Musume did a remake of Morning Musume's song.

There are also rumors floating around saying After School might be THE Korean girl group to breakthrough the Japan market following their male K-pop groups counterparts like DBSK and SS501 who have successfully breakthrough the Japan Music Market.

The rumors however remain as rumors with no confirmation from Pledis Entertainment for After School to break through the Japan Market.

Hmm... The song is nice in it's own way. It isn't as funky as LM, but I like the electronic feel. The song is produced really well, but it does feel a little empty. Maybe it's just the preview... Also, the new break at the end is really fun <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nceman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> It's definitely something I'll look for in the future.

Argh, Love Machine. That said, this version's pretty good. Will there be a PV?

I love how they squeezed in the requisite kgirlpop rap breakdown in there. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I actually really like it. It's a little more modern sounding, with the electronic music and vocals, but still fun and a little crazy like the original. I'd like to hear better quality audio, but I'm liking the sound of it from the preview.

They just posted it. It seems more natural and laid to me than their previous. I still like the original better. Morning Musume sounds happier and more ecstatic.

At this point, I'm so sick of Love Machine that any cover would have to completely re-work the song for me to really be interested in it, and this doesn't. The girls have good voices and they've done a nice job of modernizing the arrangement while still staying true to the original, so I'd probably like it if...I hadn't had the original shoved down my throat about 235023975025 times. It would be nice to see someone cover an MM song that's not Love Machine or RR21. I get that those are their most iconic hits, but there's so much that could be done with a ton of other songs they did. Even if they stuck to the golden era and covered I Wish it would be better than Yet Another Version Of Love Machine.

Well, Vanessa Williams covered I Wish. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':geof:' />

Wilhelmina Slater singing cute Jpop songs. (obviously way before she played that character, but the thought is still hilarious.)

After MM fully invades the US, I imagine there will be even more English covers. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /ph34r.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Back to the Korean cover, the rap is the best part, the bass makes this song sound extra cheesy and kind of takes into karaoke box version territory. It just needs hula dancers and motorboats. Haha, Is that a girl randomly playing a DS Lite after the breakdown?

On Punk It! Tokyo, a punk cover album, there was an English cover of Love Machine. It was...punkish. It had a really strong abstract intro, but then turned into a straight-forward cover. The best part is, at the end, instead of having a different chorus (like "Me and you too" "Even the boss," whatnot) it ends with this crash and the singer very strongly says, "Everyone including executives." <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

It feels more than a little empty to me. Hearing this only solidifies how amazing the Dance☆Man arrangement is. I personally never get sick of that recording.

Do I hear auto-tune nearly all of the time or am I just hearing things ?

Because I strongly dislike anything that has to do with it.

The girls look nice, but the song is so boringly done. The old version had a lot more pep in it, contrary to this version...
