Okay, so the ZONE comparison was just to get you guys to click on the link. There are SOME simularities, for instance in theirlatest PV they do a choreographed routine while they play, they all do vocals, and the genre is pop rock but the most glaring difference is they're a group of friends from high school hailing from Osaka and did not come together due to an audition. Other bands I'd compare them to are Nakanomori Band and Stereopony.



The newest single (same link as above) is the OP to the anime BLEACH. As I understand, it's one of the three holy trinities of shounen shows right now, so I hope they won't end up like BON BON BLANCO and get a huge bump in sales for the theme and crumble into obscurity afterwards.



They've also done some US touring, very cool.

Their style and way of choreographing, though stil having the image of a poprock band is kickass.

However, I'm not sold on their music yet, it only sounds ok to me, nothing special so far.

I will look into what they got on their yt channel.



I've never listened to zone, so I don't compare them with eachother.

Wow...I haven't been listening to much j-pop for months now.

I never liked zone's music..but scandal has officially sparked my interest in j-music again, HARDCORE.



There actually isn't one song of theirs that I've listened to so far that I haven't absolutely loved!

The theme song for Bleach (shojo S?), Magic and Doll are probably my favorites right now.

And there's just something so addictive about their image (rocking school uniforms perhaps?).

I love the fact that they're also friends and actually seem to genuinely like each other!

Their new single isn't as catchy as Shoujo S, but it's all right. Hopefully the B-side is good.

Scandal's album is coming out in a month on 10/21! It's called BEST★SCANDAL.



One version has a DVD with all 7 of their videos plus another video of them from when they were indies and toured America and stuff (I know their indies singles had videos too, so it may just be a reprint of rare stuff).



The other version has a photobook, but it's very expensive so it had better be a high-quality book.



I don't know which version to get. On one hand, the DVD will be awesome, but my love of collecting things makes me want the book (since I'm sure the DVD will be ripped at least...)

I can't decide either, for the exact same reasons! It sucks that they couldn't do a super deluxe photobook+DVD edition. At first I thought the photobook edition included DVD to make it more expensive, but it's listed as 1 cd everywhere. :|

Yes. I find myself relying on PVs to enjoy their music. This isn't necessarily bad - this is how I got into H!P too. It just seemed so different than the high of Chatmonchy haha.

And it sure is. I received it in the mail today. When I picked up the package, I first thought to myself: "Wait. I thought I just ordered a CD, right? Maybe I put other things in this order without remembering because this is really heavy." So I eagerly opened it and saw the large package that was more photobook than CD.







This is the front side. To show how big it is, this is other side of the package showing the insert for the CD:







And this book is heavy and thick. If I had to guess, I'd say it's 250-300 pages. (EDIT: I'm an idiot. It clearly says 284 pages on the packaging right there in the picture.) Here I was thinking the whole time that it would just be one of those jewel case-sized photobooks. It must have been expensive to print because, in addition to being so many pages, all the pictures look like these photographs I took:









That's a lot of black ink.

They kinda are. They all seem to be taken outside at night giving a very odd feeling. I've taken a few more to give a better overview of it.

The book is called "SCANDAL" BY SCANDAL, so I suppose the implication is that they took all these pictures themselves. And all the angles are so odd (with some pictures being just ankles or a torso) that I can readily believe they just went outside after they played a gig and started goofing off with disposable cameras.



But if they took all the pictures, then what ghost took this one?!



All four are in it!

The normal Korean version is selling for $14.99.

The limited CD+DVD Hong Kong version is $20.75. (The DVD is Region 3 of course, but damn is it so much cheaper.)

SCANDAL will be doing a cover of ZONE's "Secret Base~Kimi ga Kureta Mono~" single. It beat out Nanase Aikawa's Yumemiru Shoujo ja Iranai and THE BLUE HEART's Boku no Migite.



It is part of a promotion dubbed "SCANDAL x NTV "Kuchigomi Sentai Tsubuyakunger" joint project, "Let's make SCANDAL grow"



I wish they would have done Nanase's song, Secret Base was already done by a girlband. I hope they give it a nice spin and don't do a straight cover.

Beat out in what way? Was there a vote? If I had a say it would've been for "Boku no Migite" (though it was also somewhat done by a girlband in Linda Linda Linda).

Yeah, there was a vote. It's a collaboration with a TV show (the long japanese part of the name hahaha) The only reason why I didn't choose TBH is because they have no shortage of people willing to cover their songs...and there was an album that was just released too. That song would've been fun live though.



The girls will be performing the song while on the "SCANDAL ~Shunkan Sakurazensen TOUR~ 2010 SPRING"....tour. Please oh please let it have a DVD release!

Mami's new guitar is kickass? I know, I think it is too. Haruna is using her new guitar too, though I think she used a bit in Shunkan lives...



Rina looks freaking amazing in this video, especially her glamour shot on the stereo. Actually, all of their glamour shots with the music equipment looked amazing. Mami's bubblegum shot is so cute...and somehow Tomo's weird glasses with balloons won my heart. And tank tops=hoooot. I'm glad they're starting to ease off of the seifuku. Rina graduated, they're all out of school now.



The single is okay, but the b-sides kick ass. To rank the single:



Switch (Tomo said in an interview it's supposed to be about the boy's perspective in a relationship...wish I understood more of the song to get that feeling!)

Their next single is already titled: Namida no Regret. It comes out on July 28, almost a birthday release! :3
