That question has a weird paradox effect. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nfused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Oh, Top Secret toward the end of the preview seems interesting. I like Rika's YOU MAKE ME DIZZY line.

Did she say Kimi wo LEZZY?

Yeah, I can see them appealing to Europe with the more electronic (instead of DEATH) sound direction they seem to be going.

The Myspace page mentions a bunch of countries that are getting the album.

" ドイツ、スイス、オーストラリア 10.30 リリース "

Germany Switzerland & Australia get it on 10.30

The katakana definitely says Australia. This is a Euro promotion, so they probably meant Austria. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Man, they look like Yoshizawa and Ishikawa, but I could swear they were different people. I will never cease to be amazed by how much girls can change how they look with makeup and hair changes. They look good, but so different too. Especially Ishikawa.

They've had fairly solid releases, but it'd be nice if they were more consistent. But, take what we can get, I guess.

Not feeling it, but then again I'm just not feeling Hangry & Angry in general. It seems really forced, this whole "rocker chic riot grrl" thing they're going for, seeing as. They're two ex-Morning Musume members, haha. I consider both of them to be in my top 6 worst H!P voices, as well, so I can't enjoy the music much because they both just sound like they're shouting to me. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

They did some really deplorable photoshopping on her hair. It looks like they just took the magnetic lasso and played with the colors.

Terrible rock or cliched electronic? Hmm, at least the change of style might make it a bit better than the silly CD I bought just to get はんぐり's signature.

I'm really loving the preview track. Their new style is really cool and Yossie and Rika really look great! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nceman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Their hair looks more "manageable" this time around. Perhaps they were sick of spiking each other in the eye.

Rika looks great. Yossi.... Not so much. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I like the preview though. Definitely going more in the electronic direction than rock, but that's ok by me.

Everything they've ever done has been forced, produced, and fake -- whether it is Yossi's self-consciously constructed boyish character or Rika's variations on manic-cute. I suppose the exaggerated rocker chic of H&A is still much more palatable to me than, say, the ultra-girly-giant-bow W-style fake. However, Yossi does not know how to pose or model in general. Why does she keep posing with her eyes all bugging out in every single image? At least the HA makeup balances it out a little.

Goodness, that first picture is huge. I see the board automatically resizes it after loading the full thing, but it sure lags my poor PC.

Not enough of Top Secret yet to tell if I'll like it or not, but I'm in love with the H&A thing to begin with, so I doubt I'll hate it at the very least. (I absolutely cannot help thinking of Namie's "Top secret, top secret, top secret" line when I look at the title, though.)

I'm also happy I'll have a better cover to put on my Sadistic Dance file on my iPod too. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I love the Top Secret PV preview. The PV looks WAY better, and the song is really catchy.

PV looks boring and Yossy's make up and hair is not flattering on her at all. I'll wait until a longer preview of the actual song to make a call on that.

They're not focusing on Yossy's assets when they choose her look. They're just going with a generic punk rock look. For one thing, her eyes are too big already to be super-emphasized with that heavy eyeliner without ridiculous hair to balance it out. A normal hairdo (sans the pink strip) just makes the huge eyeliner stand out like a sore thumb and make her eyes look even buggier next to Rika's.

I don't know if I'd attribute that to not knowing how to pose, the girl really does have huge eyes, even when she's not trying to make them look that way. Unless she's smiling pretty profusely or laughing, her eyes are rather large, and a lot of us know this from meeting her in person at the autograph session at AX this year. That was the first thing I noticed when I walked up to her, and she wasn't doing an overly-nice, idol kind of thing, she was just acting fairly normal during the session and her eyes were like saucers.

So far, some of the new stuff doesn't sound as good as the old stuff in a general. Top Secret just sounds retarded. The first CD was far from silly, though. Short, yes, but silly, not really.

They both look 30+ to me in this preview, and not in the best way. Which would have bugged me a lot if I was still seeing them as Yossie and Rika from Morning Musume. But somehow H&A feels like a complete separate entity to me now, so it doesn't matter. Maybe it even fits the subject.

The song doesn't sound particularly good, but the preview is cool, I'm liking it. I always wanted to see H!P girls in something much, much heavier than the usual J-pop fare and ta-da, here it is. It could use just a little bit less glam, but I'm not gonna complain too much.

I'm far from not calling it pop or calling it rightful rock/metal, but you know what I mean... Heavy guitars make everything so much cooler. The only H!P example I can think of that is anywhere close to it is Otomegumi's 2nd single. And that's only one song 5 years ago. We need more.

"Rock" does not necessarily mean heavy guitar, metal, screamy voices, or ~*real anger*~. Remember that Elvis and The Beatles are considered some of the biggest names in Rock 'n' roll of all time. There are a lot of different types of rock. Hangry & Angry don't need to be Dir en Grey to qualify.

I never said metal, haha. But everything in this just seems very manufactured, gimicky, and pop to me. It's pop-rock, but it's not rock-rock, imho. Buono do pop in a rock style, for example, but their music is still considered pop by most.

I don't see why people are expecting so much from a band project formed from some fashion designer's characters. Rika & Yossi are in roles here. Every release, every appearance is merely a h&A product COMMERCIAL.

See, that last bit is why I haven't warmed up to the whole project, haha, it seems, to be dramatic, "soulless" to me. They really are basically just here to advertise an over priced clothing line.

Best of luck to them with it, though. I bet they're both getting a good bit of exposure from it.

There's plenty of rock that's just as manufactured as pop, but no - I do agree that it's "pop-rock" or "electronic-rock" (I know there's a better term, I just don't know what it is), but that doesn't mean it's totally disqualified from the very broad genre that is rock. I'd probably say Buono is more pop than pop-rock, but I can't really define in concrete terms why. My point was just that rock is a huge, evolving genre, and just because Hangry & Angry aren't "pure" rock, doesn't mean they aren't a form of rock at all.

[quote name='Ang' post='70596' date='Oct 24 2009, 02:44 PM'][quote name='TightWetPucchi' post='70595' date='Oct 24 2009, 02:19 PM']I don't see why people are expecting so much from a band project formed from some fashion designer's characters. I think it's all in how you look at it. For me, I love the idea of the Hangry & Angry unit because they're like a really cool bonus feature on a limited edition CD. We COULD just have pictures of Yossi and Rika wearing the clothes in magazines and maybe a few 15 second promo clips, or a bunch of boring news updates about how they showed up at a special Hangry & Angry event to wave dolls in our faces. I.e. a bunch of forgettable stuff that wouldn't even merit a thread, and we'd probably all be lumping them in with the piles of other MM graduates that waste away doing nothing of interest. Instead we get singles and full length albums! Not every song they put out is awesome, but at least they're doing something involved and fun with their promotional contract and staying on the radar. And hell, with all the effects used on these songs they sound much better than they ever did in Ongaku Gatas. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Yeah, I'm definitely feeling a garbage version of tATu here too. Not even because of the lesbian undertones, but the fucking song sounds EXACTLY like a typical tATu song. Not in a good way.

When they were first announced, nearly 80% of the comments across the H!P-loving internet were: "Finally something different! This sooo cool." I suspect that is the reason for the widespread love. But what do I know? Tastes, opinions, non disputandum, whatever.

Something merely being "different" will never make me like something objectively. If I'm ever that sick of pop, I certainly won't be moving to another ultra-manufactured genre.
