Asahiya Books on E. 45 St. is one of the few places I've been able to get brand new H!P and other J-pop releases. Well, they're closing for good. They've been around at one location or another as long as I've been into Japanese films/anime/manga/music. But they were never very western-friendly. (Unlike the refurbished Kinokuniya.) For one thing, they were way more expensive than any other place. But they often had sales.
Anyway, I was there tonight and I finally picked up that Rika Ishikawa "Most Crisis! in Hawaii" DVD that I've been curious about. Plus a BoA CD/DVD ("The Face"), a TM Network CD ("The Singles One") and three Final Fantasy XI soundtrack CDs (once recommended to me by Kappa). That's 6 items and the discounted price for all of them came out to $37.02. Plus, since I had a members' card with some more discounting on it, the whole thing came out to $27.52. Not bad. But still, I hate to see the store go.
But they don't have much left, if any of you in the New York area want to check it out.

Excellent, thanks for the tip. I haven't been there in a while, but I'll see if I can stop by tomorrow.
I am sad to see it go as well. It was the shiniest of the bookstores. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ryalot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':XD:' />
