It's kind of ridiculous how people are treating her - tracking down her twitter and formspring to send things to her about how she's going to end up in porn/prostitution in a few years and how her family are horrible people. I know people do this shit all the time but it doesn't make it right. Grown ass, jealous otaku women picking on a 14 year old who, judging by her twitter and such, is actually pretty intelligent.

That is pretty sad and unfair. Although, I wouldn't reduce it ALL to jealousy because it presumes that all women simply aspire to be 14 year old otaku stars <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' />. I'd imagine that some people are frustrated that so many would-be starlets feed into the kind of sexist expectations that the entertainment industry sets up. In those cases though, I want to shake the haters and say: what the hell is accomplished by internet-bullying a kid? If you want to protest the industry, you should aim your anger at the creepy johns that consume that stuff or use your money to support more progressive forms of entertainment.
Also, there is a degree of scary protectionism from otaku (Japanese or non-Japanese) who are uncomfortable with a white, British girl entering the rather conservative-dominated realms of 2ch fandom. Remember how pissed people were because "OMG Chinese girls" were joining MM?
As for those who ARE jealous...well, these girls still win out in the end. I remember Amerika-jin Musume also got her fair share of hater-stalkers who were obsessed with just tearing her down. In the end though, she got on tv, she got modeling deals, and she got to spend a few years of her youth pursuing something wonderfully glamorous and exciting. Good for her.
I hope this girl lives through her sudden fame with some ways to branch out of it, and not die in obscurity once the fad ends or she turns 20 (aka too old). She's cute - she might become a model at least.

Well, I just feel like someone simply irritated at the idol industry exploiting these girls in general wouldn't be sending her hate mail about how she's a dirty gutter slut XD the language people are using is green with envy, imo. Plus I've seen almost all of it coming from white girls who ALSO dance/sing on youtube.
She definitely does win in the end, though. I've read her twitter and such and she has a very admirable "haters gonna hate" kind of attitude which, if I were to envy anything about her, I'd envy that. She's planning for college and still going through high school so I think she knows that she's probably going to be a one hit wonder, even she said "Yeah, my single didn't sell well at all, but I know I'm not a singer." Also, LOL. She seems to know what's up.

I just wish she'd show more enthusiasm. I don't know if it's an act or she's genuinely like that, but it always seems like she's just kind of ho-hum whenever she's on some TV show or event.

Before I was kind of neutral to her, since ok she was pretty cute doing all those H!P dances or whatever, but now that she's attempted a more difficult dance... well. The results were not pleasant. It's inaccurate and lacks sharpness, so a. props to SNSD for executing a difficult dance b. anti-props? to Beckii for not being able to do it.
