A german/french TV channel called "arte" is re-running Twin Peaks.

I do have the first season on DVD, but I'm so going to watch this on TV every week.

I also plan on re-watching LOST this summer. (or at least Season 4-6)

[/quote]

The rerun of Twin Peaks ended and I just watch the last Twin Peaks episode again.

What a great show. Imho the best "live-action" show in existence.

I'm visiting my parents during the summer and forgot my LOST DVDs so no re-watch for me this summer. =/

Bwahahaha, that's great.

It embodies everything I dislike about these asian "dramas".

I refuse to watch k-dramas, but I've heard that the ones without idols in them tend to be better.

Somebody uploaded all 4 seasons of the late 80's TV show Out of This World, in which a girl finds out that her dad is an alien and she starts getting special powers, the main one being that she can freeze time by putting her fingers together.

Wow.

I haven't seen that since I was ~8 probably. But I still have some faint memories about it !

I absolutely loved that showed. I always wished I could stop time too.

In German it's called "Mein Vater ist ein Außerirdischer" (My dad's an alien).

As I just found out it ran from '89 to '93 here, which means I was 2~6 when I watched it.

Why is Modern Family paused for a full month !?

There is only ONE episode left.

US-american TV scheduling is so insanely retarded.

Yeah, US "seasons" make no fucking sense. Used to be that a show started around September and ran its course over 28 episodes or so, then reruns the other half pf the year. Now shows are shorter but take longer to air because of mid-season breaks and other bullshit to stretch 12 episodes into a full year of time.

I miss Japanese TV where a season is ACTUALLY a season, with 10 episodes, then 2 weeks of random programming until the next batch of shows started.

I just finished Game of Thrones Season 1. So good! I am buying the books now. I can't wait until season 2 and hope Natalie Dormer gets loads of screen time.

Also watching Vampire Diaries, up to episode 11, a lot better than I was expecting it to be, but I still hate the name of the town being changed from 'Fell's Church' in the books, to 'Mystic Falls' - Seriously?!!! Dumbest name for a place.

I tried liking Firefly years ago and failed. Now I'm thinking it was my bad for starting at the beginning. There was a marathon on and I watched every last episode. I... I liked it. Quite a bit. Who knew? One more thing on the geek pile, I suppose.

I only ever saw the movie, which was pretty ok.

It's on my to-watch-list once I take a year off and have time to watch all the stuff I still want to.

According to wikipedia it's 14 episodes à 42 hours.

So, yeah, I'll check it out some day. =P

Probably in summer when I'm also looking into some other series.

The game of thrones is one of my favorites. The story line was everywhere and people died left and right but I was still engrossed. Right now I have been really

getting into the time slot on teennick The 90's Are All That. Such nostalgia. I miss 90's Television. It was funny and had a message. Spongbob use to be

brilliant now it drifts in and out. I still watch, out of loyalty 0: ) Anyone here watches Being Human?

Spongebob is such a guilty pleasure of mine!! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/wub.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I love stupid grumpy Squidward, he's a gas.

The 90s programming is awesome! Did they play Alex Mack for the Christmas lineup? That show is so underrated, if they played it and I missed it I'm going to be so sad, I was so envious of her powers as a kid. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ryalot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' />

Big Bang is funny, I want to get more into that show but I'm busy watching my old 90s sitcom reruns for the ten-hundredth time, tyvm. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ohyeah.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D/' />

They did play Alex Mack but, not for a X-mass line-up. It was more like a leading up to New Year's day line up going from 1990-1999

programming including the original commercials and breaks. You can watch some full episodes on 90sareallthat.teennick.com

Nick has become less festive for the holidays. 3-5 years ago the holidays meant you could catch nearly every Christmas special, even if

the show had been canceled years ago again. It was like having your old time friends come and visit you. They never play the Jimmy Neutron special, The Rugrats are luck if they get an early morrning slot. I call B.S.! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... dammit.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':dammit:' />

I watch the Big Bang too. Super hilarious <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

The first two season were pretty funny, but then it went down the shitter and now it always keeps repeating itself.

I used to completely despise Big Bang Theory, and now I've kind of... got a complicated relationship with it.

Occassionally, there will be a cute nerdy joke. In fact, I even like some of the characters. Here's what I don't like:

  • It presents geekiness and mental dysfunction as a package deal.
  • Most of the "jokes" amount to "look how hilarious this guy's autism/crippling OCD are!"
  • Sometimes it's just bad.

Basically I can only get on board with BBT if I turn my brain and empathy off for most of it. I have this problem chronically with Chuck Lorre's shows. Take Mike & Molly... aside from just being an awful show, it's littered with the main character's supposed loved ones making insanely mean fat jokes about them pretty much non-stop. That isn't funny, it's sad. If that were a real-world scenario it would make the two leads devoid of self respect and everyone else bullies. I don't know why he does this weird thing where he takes people from a subculture/stereotype and simultaneously attempts to make them sympathetic and the butt-end of every joke.

You know what struck me about some of those laugh track free scenes? Them being geeks isn't funny, but the characters are probably people I'd get along with. It's a waste. I guess it comes down to this: since I cannot laugh at people for being geeky (and definitely not for being on the autistic spectrum or having a mental illness), I can find endearing moments in BBT, but not a whole lot of laughs.

I heard that Big Bang Theory was good, but agreed, it's pretty awful. If you want a really good TV show about geeks, check out The IT Crowd.

Available on Netflix as DVD or streaming, Amazon as DVD or instant video, or on your local pirate bay.
