New Unit "Team Dekaris"

A new unit has been announced called "Team Dekaris," which will do the soundtrack to the video game Dekaris. Dekaris is apparently an arcade game that's an enormous version of tetris.

The members are (clockwise from the top left): Ishihara Kaori, Noto Arisa, Matsunaga Maho, and Ogura Yui.



I'm not sure if this unit is being considered H!P or not. The article lists it as being made up of "members of the units Hello! Project Eggs and Ongaku Gatas." (I guess that means Ongaku Gatas is still technically an active unit? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':dance:' />) Noto Arisa graduated from H!P last year but stayed in UFA with the other former Elder Club girls in order to "pursue her acting career." Apparently all of these girls are also members of Happy Style, which is an egg unit I know absolutely nothing about. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Ogura Yui

Apparently this group is a sub unit or something of a group called Happy! Style, made up of assorted eggs and SI*NA. The group is not quite owned by H!P and not quite owned by TNX so maybe that explains why Noto is in it? Idk, ya learn something new everyday.

But the photoshop is pretty bad which probably could have added to the yellow. The girl on the top left does look like there a yellow overlay on the entire picture. It's pretty obvious with the different lightings on each girl. Yeah, they're just more yellow than we're used to seeing. And Noto's still looking creepy as always although at leastshe's not doing her usual mouth there. But yeah, she left H!P Eggs and became one of the only two Up-Front Eggs, which I thought was supposed to focus on becoming actress and talent.

They're all cute but I imagine they'll probably just churn out some generic idol tunes and be done with it. I'd like to hear them do something pop rockish or hip hop like but from the looks of the members it'll probably be Mano Erina esque. Either way, I adored Noto Arisa in Ongaku Gatas (even if she does bathe in the blood of virgins to keep that youthful complexion) so I'm glad to see her doing something.



Is it just me or does Ogura Yui look a bit like Maimi-esque in that photo?

Happy! Style has nothing to do with the Eggs, except that Nocchi is in it. And SI*NA aren't Eggs so.



The other three are H!S Rookies. Nocchi is now an UP-FRONT Egg, not a Hello! Project one.

There's a preview out now for Koi no Muteki Command here. They also have an official site up here. Noto Arisa is listed as "Noto Arisa (Ongaku Gatas)" on her profile picture...I guess that (coupled with the fact that they have a tour coming up) means they're still an active unit that UFA feels like promoting.



The song isn't all that exciting. Hopefully some of the other tracks will be better?

This album turned out to be a lot better than I thought it'd be. I'm not quite sure why I assumed it would be terrible, but I suppose my prejudging helped me like it since I wasn't expecting anything. They have that untested idol group sound that I have an unnatural fondness for. I had also forgotten it was for a video game, but hearing the album instantly reminded me. They really captured the sound of a lot of those doujin video game remix albums. If you've ever heard one of those countless Touhou remix vocal albums or Final Fantasy fan albums, you may know what I'm talking about. Sure, that means it sounds slightly amateurish, but it's got energy.



It was produced by a SEGA veteran, Hiro, who probably is most famous for After Burner and Space Harrier.



Koi no Muteki Command wins instant points because of its lyrics. It starts with "GAME CENTER DAISUKI" and continues with saying things like "A B START CONTINUE" etc. I mean, "A B START I LOVE YOU" is the perfect unholy mixture of idols and video games.



I think Unmei wa "I" Love You may be the star of the album. With a fancy arrangement, I can't quite place where I've heard something similar, but it's straight-up idol pop.



Yuujou Try Again! is one of the songs that really shows its video game roots. Every time I listen to it though, I think my phone is vibrating. But the doujin feeling really shows itself in sweets X sweets. It might be the vocal processing, but it starts with the same sort of vocal aspects that the vocal remix albums have, and then it turns into a Perfume song.



The album's final track is a terribly goofy remix of the classic Tetris theme Korobushka (Korobeinki). In classic (?) remix tradition, it sounds like a bunch of voice samples of the girls set to the melody. On the bright side, we do get to hear them say "SEGA" before the melody starts.



The album also comes with an instrumental track of each song. I'm not sure if this is because they wanted to pad the album, or because it's a video game and the songs were also played in the game without vocals.
