Re: Favorite Gumi
The question I can never answer. Otome Gumi had the far better songs (or perhaps just "Ai no Sono" had the sexiest PV this side of the "Kanashimi Twilight" outfits), but unfortunately Sakura Gumi membership was 8000 times better.

This, but I voted for Sakura Gumi. It's not everyday where you get actually GOOD nice ballad type songs from H!P.

Yeah, hard to decide between these two. I prefer Otomegumi now, but Sakuragumi was my first love. eheh.

Ha! I was going to post essentially the same thing, only with the groups switched. I think this is the point where I'm supposed to get mad at you.

Re: Favorite Gumi
Am I the only person in the universe that liked Sakura Gumi's song more than Otome Gumi's?! I don't care how cool the video is - Ai no Sono was ruined by Miki's overenthusiastic vocals. All I can hear is Tsuji doing her impression of Miki's over-stressed aaaiiii no soNOOOOOO. Hare Ame Nochi's lyrics are so bittersweet and I still like the melody.
edit: I can't find that video. Anyone remember? On some tv show, Tsuji was making fun of Miki and Reina by impersonating their singing styles in Ai No Sono.

Otome Gumi! Both groups should come back even though it wouldn't as much members.

It was the Utaban summer special following the -gumis. It started off with Kaori's plagiarizing poem tent and ended with Makoto's back-alley balloon game.

Luckily for us all, Miki only sings that line once. Hare Ame Nochi is so boring that I can barely even remember it right now. I don't know the lyrics except now that I'm listening to it to desperately try to even remember what the song sounds like, I guess I heard "I love you for what you are." That doesn't get me to care about lyrics. If we're talking about terribly-delivered lines, those dog whistles singing "nochi sukiiii" are pretty annoying.
Should I add one of these to add to the anger that we're supposed to have? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... dammit.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':dammit:' />

Re: Favorite Gumi
When they first came out I liked Sakura gumi's songs better but as years past I started to appreciate Otome gumi's songs more. I like them both. I still like Sakura Mankai but Hare Ame Nochi Suki has fallen off the radar into the pit of I don't give a damn. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':dammit:' />
But group wise, I voted for Sakura gumi because I liked the group vocals better then Otome gumi. Well except for Risa but she was trying out her "I'm not going to sound like a boy when I sing" phase so you can't fault her... much.

I only care about Otome Gumi's Ai no sono, so I vote for them.

Re: Favorite Gumi
I wanted to view the votes before I voted and realized too late that doing so has prevented me from voting. There were 11 votes for each group when I checked. Who would I have voted for? Well, I love "Sakura Mankai" and Sakura Gumi has five of my favorite members while Otome Gumi has just three. But Otome Gumi's "Ai no Sono ~ Touch My Heart" is one of the greatest things ever, as well as being the very first Hello! Project song I ever heard.
Oh, and hooray for 2003! Arguably the "peakest" of MM's peak years.

Re: Favorite Gumi
Ai no Sono and Sakura Mankai are both still favorites of mine. But then out of the two left, Yuujou is better than Hare Ame Nochi Suki, with the exception of Sayumi's vocals, which were akin to listening to my cat cough up a hairball. I actually made an edit of the song without her in it, and it was awesome. But if you don't count do-it-yourself editing, I guess I would give it to Sakura Gumi for never making my ears bleed, even though Yuujou was the better song.
But then, nobody really talked about the B-sides either - the Otome gumi version of Summer Night Town is still my favorite version ever! While Sakura Gumi's Daite Hold on me was not that great. I have a slight preference for the Otome gumi version of Say Yeah also, so if we were going based on the whole singles, I think Otome gumi has my vote.
... Then again Sakura gumi did Morning Coffee in their concert and that was my favorite morning coffee... Ai and Ai sounded so good together. So maybe I am undecided after all.

Re: Favorite Gumi
I voted for Sakura Gumi.
@mEri: I like SG for their songs and the girls in the group as well. I just couldn't get into OG's songs. They sounded okay, but only for like a few times and then they just got annoying to listen to IMHO, of course. Hare Ame Nochi Suki is a great ballad and Sakura Mankai is an awesome song! And their live concert was fun to watch and listen to just for vocal quality alone. Loved hearing them sing Kowarenai Ai ga Hoshii no and Shabondama.
I guess OG songs just never appealed to me. But honestly its like comparing apples to oranges because they were set apart as two different types of groups from the beginning. So it should have been automatic that the songs from both groups were going to be different and probably appeal to different tastes. I happen to like ballads and such so my taste went more towards the more seemingly traditional Sakura Gumi.

Re: Favorite Gumi
I voted for Otomegumi. At that time, I didn't even listen to their songs, just Sakuragumi's because I found them wonderful... Well, right because I loved Sakuragumi then, I can't even stand reading the unit's name now; I guess I overdid <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/sick.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':dammit:' /> . Plus, I've been listening a lot to Ai no Sono lately and I always thought Otomegumi didn't get enough love even when I only listened to the other gumi. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />
Re: Favorite Gumi
Otomegumi by far! Ai no Sono was my jam for the longest time and it has Kaori in it! I didn't like Yuujou as much as I did Ai no Sono, but both were better than Sakuragumi's songs, which bored me to tears.

I will say that I've listened to OG's songs a few times; but still found myself listening more and more to SG. I think also, the better singers where in SG so most of their songs were much more tolerable to the ear! The gumi that had Densha no Futari. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':weeeh:' />
Also, I'd like to add that I always thought it was funny how the choreography to Hare Ame Nochi Suki looked like they were dancing to something ten times faster. Kinda looks like amateur DDR. "step-step-step, BIG HOP!" (& repeat)
Sakura and Otome worked for me because there was that push and pull. I easily bought both side's CDs, but I preferred the Sakura members overall. When it's all said and done, at karaoke, I always sing the Otome songs.
This is really funny because I was just thinking how the BBS crashes often (defense mechanism) so no one revives topics from 2003, and here we are! What's next, which GO GIRL team was your favorite?
Red of course. It had Risa- and it still beat the others for me.
Yossi + Miki + Kaori > you (especially with Yossi's weight gain)
Blue gang was filled with trouble: Kago, Nacchi, Reina, Makoto. Hey, most of SALT5.

Really hard for me to decide. For songs, it was on an equal level (which was really awesome). Eri was so shy, I loved seeing it and also seeing her break out of her shell while Sayumi on the other hand, was seriously cute too... I vote for SG, just cos, Eri's shyness melts my heart~ <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /weeeh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

It's also the group that Miki wasn't in.
Therefore, Sakuragumi.
