I left out a few of the less cared about awards, like best jazz album and whatnot. I'm not really sure what these awards are based on (it seems to be sales?) or why so many overlap. It seems like "The Best 5 ___" are the nominees for "The Best ___ Of the Year" but all of the winners in each category actually get an award. See Mano with her's here and some info about Arashi's record 10 awards here.



No big surprises, Arashi and Exile continue to dominate, with GReeeeN still doing pretty well. I guess Mano actually getting recognized is kind of surprising, and well deserved imo. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /weeeh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

It's gotta be based on sales because otherwise The Beatles winning International Artist of the Year is thoroughly confusing.

I barely know any of all the singers/groups named, even from all the international ones I only know lady gaga and of course The Beatles.

Other thoughts:

It was the Arashi show feat. greeeeen, must've been boring for the audience.



I'm just as confused as the rest of you as to why certain people got awards, but LAWL backstreet boys. Oh Japan, you're so silly. Japan sure does love boy bands and schoolgirls, even if they're washed up american artists or animated hahahaha

Yeah I just linked the blog for the pictures because I'm too lazy to reupload them. I think the site does a process of elimination poll though. Like each week there's three different members, and whoever wins that poll advances on to the next round or whatever. At the end they're left with just one member.

Only recently though. They definitely have a lot of #1 singles (though they're one of the few JE groups that's had a few #2 and #3 singles), but their crazy topping-the-yearly-charts sales didn't start until 2008.





But yeah, re: The Beatles, the little news snippets I've seen about these awards have mentioned sales a lot so I'm pretty sure that's what its all based on. The "New Artists" kind of confused me, since I know Mano doesn't really sell that much, but I guess they compare it to sales of other new artists?

I could easily believe that she was in the top 5 sales of artists who debuted in 2009. All but one of her singles were in the top 10 weekly charts, even if the sales dropped off after the shiny newness of the first two singles wore off. She had so many damn releases that adding up all the singles has to be at least 95,000 (plus the album sales, I guess). I think she made it just through sheer number of releases compared to other new artists.



I would've guessed that supercell would have won, but I guess Hilcrhyme had more releases.

There are two things I understand from high school: my love of GReeeeN and what derivatives are.



GReeeeN is surely not the acceleration graph of Orange Range. But they do have the same singers.
