One thing this did do is make me look up what BOUNCEBACK has been up to since SweetS, but strangely the website with their portfolio hasn't been updated since early 2008
I'm pretty sure I saw their name somewhere... Ah, yes, it was with Avex's other idol group, SuperGirls. This profile seems to be updated: http://creator.avex-management.jp/?p=artis...p;id=bounceback

Brilliant, at least something good game out of this mess (and the aforementioned enjoyable disco single Himawari to Hoshikuzu). Thanks!
Live version of their version of "Love like candy floss" from this past weekend is now up on Youtube:

Still makes me miss SweetS. Though, I don't know if I like it if the lead vocals are trying to sound like them.
Oh my god. They do not have the voices to support that song. The 'Oi Oi Oi' makes me want to murder the entire audience.

A SweetS live of the track in case everyone needs to purge their ears of that bile.
Horrible arrangement. Horrible vocals. Horrible choreography. Actually, it was worse than I imagined it would be. Please stick to the cutesy songs that don't require any sort of talent besides looking cute and you may go far in life TGS. At least, until your loli appeal wears off and your fanbase leaves with it. And that's almost up. Sad, sad; poor girls.
Getting rid of SweetS was a travesty on Avex's part.

Hell no, it was a mercy killing after the way they mistreated them with horrible third-rate songs post-BOUNCEBACK. Now that was a travesty.

I liked most of the stuff they did after their BOUNCEBACK songs, but obviously it wasn't nearly as good. I always thought that their first EP was SO good that using it as a standard to compare other songs to was sort of unfair. Shit that good doesn't come along very often.

Agreed completely. Glad someone thinks the same. I was starting to feel embarrassed I like any of their post BOUNCEBACK.
Anyways, they sing so much better in the PV. And the loli factor is played down a bit. I swear THE ONE WITH THE MOLE is like Haruna's prettier but less talented version.
But I can't get into it still. This arrangement just isn't sticking with me.

Yeah, that's why I had to wait for the PV to come out because I knew it would be better than their live preview. Anyway, I love it even though the SweetS version is better. I guess not that many people are not liking it because the arrangement. It wouldve been better if it was as dynamic as the SweetS version and found a balance between that and their sound than making it sound more like "TGS's version of love like candy floss". They could've stepped out of their signature style.

Re: Tokyo Girls Style
Okay, the group finally won me over with this. Chiptune remixes can do no wrong with me (Especially if it's YMCK) and the fact that they went all the way with the PV makes it that much more awesome.

Holy shit. I kinda love that song and its original PV anyway (even though they all look the same in it), but this remix? Wow. It's almost too good.

MV for Kodou no Himitsu
I really love the MV. Not super crazy about the song, but it will probably grow on me. I feel like a slower song would have really worked better with it, though.

Yeah that's what I was talking about, great song and cool video for sure. I wonder though if I've become more sensitive since "jumping ship" to Korean pop, cause to me, that hip-twisting dance in the first chorus looks kinda lewd.

Now somebody figure out the intepretation of this PV that incorporates alternative universes and time loops...

Which music video exactly do you mean ?
Travel back in time through the haze of memories that aren't your own
and melodies frozen in a particular place in history..
If you say run, I'll run with you

Re: Tokyo Girls Style
Album is out! Bit of a mixed bag, kinda disco-y overall so I like it, but some of the songs are really bland. Still worth checking out I'd say! If only that inferior arrangement of Love Like Candy Floss wasn't there...

Still underwhelmed by this group. Music video symbolism only reminded me how interchangeable they all are.

Re: Tokyo Girls Style
They made a PV for Sayonara, Arigatou. It's on the album but, they're releasing it as a single along with Koudou no Himitsu as a double A-side.
It's a nice ballad.

It's nice and I really like the overall reminiscent feel of the PV, but dear lard on bacon is it entirely too long to be so terribly boring.

Yeah I really liked that song as well, I think it was my favorite from the album aside from the singles. It's very nice and pleasant, and the piano melody kinda reminded me of Persona 3.
Actually this whole album grew on me quite a bit, the biggest problem I have with it is the starting 4 tracks. Even though I liked Kodou no Himitsu and Himawari, they're singles so I already know them and gotten used to them, and the less said about Ganbatte and that Love Like Candy Floss arrange, the better.
After that though, the album does become quite great! I really like that it has a sort of consistent style, and that the style in question is disco/funk. That's pretty awesome!

Super Bump!
I absolutely love this group now. I mean, I am ALL in, lol! For the past month or so, I've had online Jpop radio playing in the background, and it seemed like every other song that made go "this is fuckin' sweet! Who is this?" was TGS. So I DL'd all of their albums, and I've been listening to them obsessively for the past three days now. The first two are pretty good, but their 3rd and 4th are just stellar. They've really found their niche with the sort of (mostly) analog hard funk/disco sound. I really wish I'd have given them more of a chance back when they debuted as opposed to writing them off as a SweetS/Parago rip-off act, although they really are the logical extension of both groups. I especially hear a lot of Parago in their arrangements (guitar glissando abounds!), but their sound has evolved beyond those two groups and is distinctly TGS.
I cringed reading my comments earlier in this thread. They've really turned into a killer idol group.
BONUS: You want to know how cool member Ayano Konishi is? She's this fucking cool.

My friend Josh saw them in San Francisco this past summer and he says the fans got a lot of access to them over the two or three days they were there and took pictures with them and everything. Quite a different management style than UpFront, huh? I haven't been following them, but you've got me intrigued. What are their 3rd and 4th albums called?
