Morning Musume, 2ch leaks and sushi bars

A week ago, the Mo-wota (Morning Musume wota) leaked a backstage conversation between Hello! Pro girls Natsuyaki Miyabi and Tanaka Reina. They were talking about their upcoming singles. Miyabi was telling Reina that Berryz Kobo's new single would be about bento and Reina told her that Momusu's would be about sushi and would be titled "Appare! Kaitenzushi", to which Miyabi exclaimed "Tsunku-san is into food topics lately!".



Much to wota surprise, the conversation was no joke. With Tsunku you never know what's coming next, and Reina's words became true just yesterday when the new Morning Musume song was leaked... at a sushi bar. This is it:

It seems that playing the song at sushi places was part of the song's promotion (buzz marketing). However, 2ch spent the night of the leak commenting how inappropriate this song was to be an A-side and that a triple graduation deserved a better song. Less than 24 hours after the leak, Up-Front sent out a fax stating that they were pushing back Momusu's 44th single from 10/13 to 11/17. Rumor has it that UFA higher-ups conceded it wouldn't be the best theme for a graduation single and hence the delay.



This story seems identical to another Momusu's mysterious episode exactly five years ago. "Koi wa Hassou Do The Hustle!" was originally to be released as the title track for their 28th single, but due to very poor 2ch feedback, was switched to the B-side instead. Then, "Chokkan 2", a second coming of their album song "Chokkan", took the A-side spot.



With a three months gap from now until the new release date, the faith of the sushi song is unknown. Stay tuned!

2. I don't remember what happened with Koi ha Hassou. Is this true?



3. I can't imagine the company cares that much. I thought they made all their money off of concerts anyhow.

Why would a sushi bar get exclusive rights to play this song first? So weird. Even if this is a song about sushi, I don't get it. Unless MM new's single is a cross promotion with this particular place...

In the article it says "sushi places", so I think they were trying to make other-than-wota people go buy this song by playing it in sushi bars and it's not just limited to one place.

Nah, I prefer Chokkan to Do the Hustle; but I think it would've been nicer if they hadn't already done it.

The leaked song doesn't sound so bad. At least it seemed like it had a little spunk to it. It's better than Seishun Collection so I won't complain. Now this means we'll get some shitty "Seishun" type group song because graduation songs have to be all nostalgic and sad. :| JunJun, LinLin, and Eri were all energetic people, let them have an explosively fun song they can really jump around and get into! But if you have to go the "sad song" route, give us another "As for One Day" or "Do it! Now" plz

Yes and no. Koi wa Hassou did actually get switched from a- to b-side, but we can't know for sure the reasoning behind it. I remember there being some statement from Tsunku that Chokkan was so popular at concerts, he wanted a single version of it. Not sure if that was in response to the switch though.

Not sure - the fact that a single is a member's last usually is a selling point, so maybe they're trying to milk this as much as they can. But this may have been something they planned to change anyway, and the announcement lining up with the "leak" and 2ch response may just be a conincidence. I'm sure they care to a tiny extent that the wota like the single, since they're pretty much the only ones buying copies. If the wota are mad about it, they might only buy one copy instead of 12! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Not if it's their last chance to touch Kamei/Jun/Lin then they won't! Gotta win the lottery event you know! This new release date actually makes any sort of release event a tight fit before the girls graduate. I guess the lottery event will be 12/4 weekend since there is no concert. Anyway, speaking of events, my first thought when they changed the release date wasn't because of any internet outrage, but it was because they wanted the girls to be able to take advantage of the 11/20 weekend to do the kind of promotional events they did for "Nanchatte Renai" to keep sales up through the week beyond the first day. The original release date was right in between two of their tour dates. I guess we'll see if they end up doing something like that, but I imagine decisions like this aren't made in response to whining.

I was on the boat of "OMG Kamei, Linlin, and Junjun should get a better song for their graduation!" But all the singles that each girl graduated from wasn't so special or like made for a girl graduating, but honestly, if a HQ sounds as awesome as what I'm liking on the LQ, I can see this being a decent catchy song and I'm somewhat excited for it! I'm just afraid that this song will just get replaced with a worse song. I did like Chokkan 2 better than Koi no Hassou, so if this is going to happen again, then I hope it will be better then this one.

Kei got TWO graduation songs though, man. She had the remix of Never Forget AND that one really long track at the end of No. 5.



I really hope they don't get that Sushi song, though. From what I could hear, it wasn't bad, but I'm still in the boat of having the girls get SOME SORT of a fitting single for their graduation, a la Yossi.

First thing I thought when I heard this song was: wow, it's really Morning Musume, and then about Tsunku's restaurant. Finally, that this could be their real comeback to upbeat songs. I had no idea he was up to a streak of food songs. Anyway, after listening another time I thought, and still do, that they'd better have something better than this. They've had so many good though more mature songs and the line up only got older and will get even more until the new members are added. I wish Tsunku would wait until the change in the members to release such a song.



As for the graduation song topic, well, they rarely do special songs for graduation. Ai Araba is just one more from that time that does fit a graduation but it doesn't make me feel that did it just for Natsumi like Never Forget was for Asuka (and Kei). But I wish they'd put a decent song, at least. I may bite my tongue later when this becomes a success but I'm still not feeling it is the right time to change. Wait just one more single.



About Chokkan, argh, I hated that single. I can understand people liking it but I didn't. I'm afraid that it will happen again now, changing a not so good for the worst. Like Osaka Umai nen 2.

At first I thought this was about what Eri, LinLin and JunJun would be singing at their graduation concert. Which BTW I AM wondering. It worked for Tsuji and Kago and Makoto and Konno because they were all in their respective generations but this one is a little off.





But anyway, I'm sorta glad this song got canned. From what I could hear, it seemed rather generic. I'll have to take another listen, I never made it through the first time. :x

iirc, most people that graduated in a concert had some sort of graduation song that was in memory of their graduation, even if it wasn't a new song/was dedicated after the fact. For new songs just for their graduation, obviously Asuka had Never Forget, Nakazawa had Koi no Kioku, Kei had TWO songs, and Yossy's was Sono Deai no Tame ni.



Then people that just kinda got nothing new were Maki with Te wo Nigitte, Nacchi's was Ai Araba/Furusato, Kaori's was Yume no Naka from First Time, TsujiKago was I WISH, Rika's was The Peace!, and KonnOgawa had Suki na Senpai. Really, the only person that didn't have a specific song that was just for their graduation was Koharu. Unless you count Rainbow Pink.



So yeah, there's probably gonna be a song for their graduation I'd hope. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':sad:' /> I think even if they have to repurpose an old song, we're gonna get something. You are so right. I've just got some of her solo albums and after not really noticing her vocally in MM on her own she is incredible. She's definitely the second best vocalist in H!P history, only a fraction behind Yuki Maeda.
