NAKED BOYZ

On Thursday, Japan witnessed the birth of its biggest "ikemen actor" group. Dubbed the NAKED BOYZ, the 44-member unit is being described as the male version of AKB48, though they still have yet to prove their popularity. The members were revealed at Thursday's debut event, and talento Ai Haruna (38) showed up to cheer them on.



The 44 members, ranging in age from 16 to 30, were chosen through an audition. They will base their activities at Shinjuku FACE, where they plan to put on several performances every year. Their first major performance there will be held on November 5.



The group's website launched on Wednesday.

Here's the website. There's not much at all except a banner showing the BOYZ. Some of these guys are really good looking and some of them should go back to Def Tech and SOFFet where they belong.



The group seems to be actors or something, like an acting AKB48 with dangles. Maybe it's a sketch comedy troupe!



They seem to have a performance called "Hamariman" coming up.

I like how their website has basically the same format as AKB48's. Especially the member screen.

Surely I can join, right? I mean, in terms of ugliness I'm like the male version of the AKB girl whose face never fails to make me shudder. Or this SKE girl I just randomly came across. I don't need to look good if my gimmick is being a foreigner. But I just want to act, these guys will probably also sing and dance.



What do you suppose the expected gender-ratio for the audience will be for something like this? So far, only males have written in this thread.

You can join, but only if you send the "Meiji Kimoi on a horse" image with your resume.

In fact, make stationery with that image, and print everything onto it!



Most of these guys look really busted, or took very awkward photos. It also doesn't help that about 75% were given stupid hairstyles.



The 1st 3 rows are almost all bad. What were they thinking with ASTHMA's photo!

Hiyori Yuki's row is overall pretty good.

Along with Yonamine Keita at the very end of the page.



MIMURA MASAYA worked as a model on Graniph.

My 2010 goal is to design a shirt for them! I don't know if he's on thesite right now.

A new all-male idol group called Naked Boyz has been dubbed Japan’s largest ikemen (handsome male) group. They self-described “male AKB48” have a home at Live Hall Face in Shinjuku. The members range from 16 to 30 years old and will be a part of 24-Hour TV and NTV’s live annual charity marathon on 8/28.

That is only forty of the forty four members, as their official website has 44 pictured but only 40 profiles. It seems that this group is a tad multi-cultural as well, as they have Korean, Burmese and hapa (half) members.



Some of the members of the group are already known actors, and have appeared on screen and on stage. They will hold their first live performance in November.
