That's all she wrote for the VMAs! Here are a couple of highlights (spoilers?):

- Chelsea Handler was pretty decent, but she had this really awkward 10 minutes of punchlines at the start of the show. It felt artificial.



- Justin Bieber tripping up all night. First, he lost one of his drumsticks during his own personal drum solo in his live performance. Then, when he got New Artist, he stood up and could not for the life of him figure out which way went to the stage. I guess his years of living in Canadia didn't help his navigational skills. I mean, he was in a front row. Come on.



- Deadmau5 got a lot of recognition and he managed to play some of his newest singles (Some Chords, Animal Rights, a possible new La Roux "Bulletproof" remix from him?).



- There was a really great performance of The Dog Days Are Over AKA the Eat Pray Love CM song. I'm surprised someone that old was allowed in the theater.



- Taylor Swift performed a new song with a video intro of last year's incident. The song was basically an "I forgive you"-type song and all the dumb tweens in the audience felt smart for thinking critically. What they think is critical thinking at least.



- Speaking of Kanye, he finished off the show with one of his new tracks. I can see his progression as a musical instrument user, not a musician. The performance consisted of him clinking out a few sounds on a 4x4 drum pad, a chorus toasting the haters, more drum pad while a random rapper came out and rapped, and then Kanye grabbed a different mic and sang in heavily distorted 808aH autotune. Pretty boring musically and was not inspiring as a show finisher.



- Lady GaGa clearing house! She got two awards on the pre-show, won in each category she was nominated, got three "Professional Awards" for Bad Romance, and Cher gave her Video of the Year. Also, her outfits. She started with a McQueen gown with feather liberty spikes, then a leather gown, and then rounded out the night with a meat dress! "I never thought I'd ask Cher to hold my meat purse."



- When Lady Gaga got her VotY, she sang a line from her new record "Born This Way," but there seems to be some confusion on the internet. I believe this is just a track ("record"), not the new title. I think she's announcing that on New Years.



- Also, on VotY, when Cher came out, the camera cut to Ke$ha standing up frantically taking notes with Kay Perry behind her copying off of Ke$ha's notepad. Lady Gaga was busy marinating her gown.



Anybody else see it? What great moments did I miss here?
