Gosh, guys, please calm down. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... pyeyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Honestly, I like this thread because I already got addicted to a few recommendations. Now, is that so bad? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ryalot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' />

It could have been framed A LOT better, but this is AEUG, guys. I could have seen myself making a similar thread, but it would be much more nice like, "I don't like who's popular in Kpop now. But do you guys have any other recommendations?" Would that be so bad?

Re: About clumping this question in another thread, I would have probably not read it. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/down.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Anyways, not trying to cause more flame. So please be nice to me. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... pyeyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Oprah was right, I can't control people. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ryalot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' />

I'm really addicted to this song now, thanks to this thread. IU - You Know (Rock version)

ITT: AEUG has strong opinions, other people can't take it, fights ensue.

That being said, I honestly can't stand most Kpop AEUG. I only think early BoA was good and like, SNSD is the only act now worth my time. Ah well, I suppose I'll listen to some of the stuff that was linked. I remember watching H.O.T. videos back in high school and wondering why it looked like they had no noses.

All I've learned from this thread is that apparently there is no such thing as KRock and definitely no such thing as KGirlRock, and therefore the entire country is not relevant to my interests.

No, it wouldn't have been bad at all. It would have been met with a lot honest suggestions, and remained drama free. Then again, if you had started such a thread, it would be assumed that you actually wanted suggestions. AEUG's history suggests that the odds are 50/50 that he just wants to make fun of our suggestions.

From my perspective "this is AEUG, guys" just doesn't cut it, because it presupposes that he's going to be a d-bag, and we should all just accept it and take it. Well, "this is JPope, guys", which presupposes that I'm not going to take being talked down to by a d-bag. Just because AEUG acts like a turd a lot doesn't mean we should allow it because that's just what he does. He shouldn't do it. Period.

Again, this is just my perspective. I'm not lashing out at you, because I actually really like the tenor of the bbs since you took over. I like you. I just disagree on this point.

Wow, I didn't know that using the words "prove" and "suck" could incite such a fucking unnecessary riot. I guess I'll try to be a polite little girl next time I write some words on a BBS.

The thread title is my way of making everything else I said in the thread more concise, which is typically what a thread title should be. I'm saying that 95% of Kpop I've heard in the last 5 years hasn't interested me, but I want to find things that will interest me again. I wasn't making any kind of sweeping statements about how awful the Kpop industry is now, just saying that my exposure to it in the last few years has been less than satisfactory, but my exposure isn't even close to the whole scope of the industry, I'd imagine. And like strawberry said, most people would pretty quickly overlook the "recommendations" thread, and I wanted this to be a little more personal and have more discussion based on all the liked artists I posted about here. I still haven't seen many recommendations or discussion as to how the recommendations fit my artists that I listed, since this thread went 80% off track, but if we could get back to that, that would be cool.

Man, drama sure unfolded while I was gone. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nfused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Holy shit.

I'm trying to decide if I want to lock this or not. I supposed I'll let it ride another day, and if there's no civility, I'll lock it. Things seem to be calming down for the moment.

Well, with a title like "Can someone prove to me K-pop doesn't suck," it definetly sounds like you're degrading said music industry. You should've had a title like "can anyone recommend me any artists," and then said what you said in your opening post.

Or even better, I could make a recommendations thread outside of the one already up there...hm. I'll think about it.

I think condemning this thread entirely is pretty premature. It's obvious to me that AEUG has a history here, but if you're that vehemently opposed to this thread, take him out of the equation. It could be a good idea to simply use this as a general K-pop recommendation thread from which we could all mutually benefit. AEUG's evidently not the only one who feels this way about today's K-pop, so it seems worthwhile. I would never be able to find things like that IU song that strawberryjam posted (which I liked) simply because I don't watch Korean music variety shows and less popular artists don't get a lot of exposure, especially not when all you've got is English-language K-pop news online. I'd happily use a K-pop recommendation thread regardless of what the title of it was.

I'm afraid I have little to recommend to AEUG, though, or to anyone else for that matter. I myself am still looking for a Korean group I like half as much as S.E.S. My only suggestion would be the Wonder Girls, although they're a pretty different style to early K-pop and I appreciate them in a very different way. They have a slightly tongue-in-cheek, almost ironic touch to them, which is refreshing. It's fun pop music that isn't trying to be anything else, and that of course is not a massively different formula, but it always struck me as more interesting than the other big girl groups. But owing to their popularity, I expect most people here have heard them already and made up their minds on whether or not they like them.

I'm not condemning it just yet. I'm just seeing the drama unfold and am questioning whether or not I should let it continue. Like I said, I'll give it another day and if people still aren't civil by then, I'll close the thread.

As for using it as a recommendation thread...I'm far too lazy to delete the posts. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nfused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Creating a new one would just be easier.

That is the unfortunate thing, both in the case of J-pop and K-pop. There are only so many artists that get focused on, the big ones that most everyone knows. Like something I experienced a while back. Most everyone knows the big idol groups; like Momusu, Berryz, AKB and et cetera. I personally would not have discovered Momoiro Clover (another idol group that's becoming quite popular) for quite a long time had I not heard about them from Em-El, who's right smack dab in the middle of Japan because of his work. They received very little press at first, and now slowly they're starting to get more coverage.

iHoneyJoo is where I get most of my Korean music. They have a little bit of all styles and all artists, and there are a lot of artists I've discovered there; one of my favourite groups, f(x), being one of them.

On a final note...Wonder Girls are actually in the recommendation topic on top of the forum near the bottom of the post. They were my first K-pop group, and I probably would've done some kind of bio had PQ not gotten to it first. X3

I wasn't referring specifically to you, it was just a general comment because a lot of people seemed to think this thread was a waste of time for a variety of reasons. I mean, obviously if the discussion becomes nothing more than people launching personal attacks and arguing over the thread's existence then it needs to be locked, but I think that would be a lot of wasted potential. Hopefully that debate has come to some kind of close by now.

And you're right about exposure. I think it's sometimes worse for K-pop, being fairly young compared to J-pop. It's only in the last few years that K-pop has really taken off internationally, so a lot of smaller artists don't get much coverage at all on Western K-pop news sources. I'd actually heard of f(x) via Youtube, although I'm not particularly keen on their stuff besides La Cha Ta, which was an absurdly catchy song.

But yeah, I expected that Wonder Girls would already be available elsewhere on the site. Still, if anyone hasn't heard them, or lumped them in with the other big girl groups, I'd recommend trying them again. They come across like they don't take themselves seriously, and considering how many groups seem to be doing just that this year with all these "dark" songs (SHINee's Lucifer, SNSD's Run Devil Run, Kara's Lupin, etc.), it's a nice change. They're just so over-the-top and fun.

AEUG is the forum's Comic Book Guy. Sometimes his schtick gets old. This is one of those times.

But, anyway, here's a song I enjoy that's outside of the pop realm. Too bad it's impossible to find anything else about the guy. The album that this was on was pretty good.

My opinion of K-pop is still generally the same as in my old post in the K-pop thread. But at least this thread showed me that K-pop is not just the kind of pop that I have described there. Thanks for the Seo Taiji, Yi Sung Yol, and IU recommendations guys. I have never heard any K-rock before (really!) and always wondered if there was any, so that's appreciated. Even if I find nu-metal about as exciting as a lukewarm puddle of puke on the sidewalk on my way to work.

I'm against thread closings except in the extreme cases, but do keep the discussion more civil and less trolls trolling trolls trolling trolls, thank you.

As for the real issue at hand, I feel I should respond even if the issue is near over since Jpope pointed this out to me. I don't know what to say. I know AEUG isn't being the most polite. But since this thread has been help and has our attention, lets use it for recommendations for people like me and DarkRidley at least. This is basically what I said before so I'm sorry if it's not very satisfactory. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ryalot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' />

AEUG, to save us some drama, have a little more tact. After all, you're asking people to do a favor for you.

Anyways, I want to hear more poprock like IU song. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /weeeh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' /> I already know and like Loveholic. I listened to more IU songs and they don't use much guitar. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/down.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':eekrun:' /> Except she's really good at playing acoustic guitar!

Don't mock a man for his dreams.

AEUG shuddered as he felt Jpope's fingertips caress his happy trail. "I... I've never felt this before," he muttered. His reactions to Jpope's touch had already given away his inexperience. Jpope wordlessly reached past him to the bedside stand and retrieved an 18" rubber fist. "I'll help you feel many things you've never felt before," he said.

That is quite possibly the most accurate version of berry to be put to print! NO BERRY DO NOT HIGHLIGHT THIS PLEASE I DON'T WANT TO SCAR YOU FOR LIFE! YOU ARE WORTH MORE THAN THE LULZ!

Jpope wordlessly reached past him to the bedside stand and re trieved an 18" rubber fist. "I'll help you feel many things you've never felt before," he said.

AEUG recoiled in a mixture of horrific fascination. "Can it really fit," he questioned in a meek voice. Jpope said nothing but a smile. He smiles so sexily. And his leather pants were so tight he could see his arousal. The desire to put it in his mouth, to taste it and ingest all his bittersweet juices, crept through his body.
A thin line of hair crept up his dashboard abs, his small milk chocolate nipples stood on end, waiting to be sucked. Would he be tickled by the beard? But that would have to wait. Jpope did not play games. This would not be gentle. But he would like it. He would love it. That's why he needed him. Only Jpope could make him back down like this. Leave his boundaries open like this. He would have to wait for his turn for any sort of reciprocation. If he survived the fist of destruction.

"If you're good," he trailed off, readying the behemoth.

"If I'm good," he mimicked, huge eyes of a lamb wide with innocence.

He teasingly caressed his perineal region, smiling as he involuntary expressed his delight. "I might give you a reach around," he whispered in AUEG's ear as he plunged it in with full force.

There is nothing that can excuse what I've done. Please don't ban me.

JPope’s fingers softly trailed down the contours of AEUG’s spine, and AEUG knew JPope knew he was awake. He kept his eyes shut and tightened his arms around JPope’s neck, holding himself closer to him. AEUG would have been happy to lie here forever, to never disturb this moment. AEUG opened his eyes; the first thing he saw was the pale, almost silvery skin of Jpope’s throat, the arc of his chin above his face. His jaw was taut.

He was staring at the frothy canopy above them, and he didn’t look at AEUG as he studied his grave features. JPope’s expression was a shock—it sent a physical jolt through his body.

“JPope,” he said, a strange little catch in my throat, “what is it? What’s wrong?”

“You have to ask?” His voice was hard, cynical.

His first instinct, the product of a lifetime of insecurities, was to wonder what he had done wrong. He thought through everything that had happened, but he couldn’t find any sour note in the memory. It had all been simpler than he’d expected; they’d fit together like corresponding pieces, made to match up. This had given AEUG a secret satisfaction—they were compatible physically, even in form of a rubber fist, as well as all the other ways. Fire and ice, somehow existing together without destroying each other. More proof that he belonged with him. JPope’s finger smoothed the worried lines on his forehead.

“What are you thinking?” he whispered.

“You’re upset. I don’t understand. Did I… ?” he couldn’t finish.

His eyes tightened. “How badly are you hurt, AEUG? The truth—don’t try to downplay it.”

“Hurt?” he repeated; his voice came out higher than usual because the word took him so by surprise.

He raised one eyebrow, his lips a tight line. AEUG made a quick assessment, stretching his body automatically, tensing and flexing His muscles. There was stiffness, and a lot of soreness, too, it was true, but mostly there was the odd sensation that his bones all had become unhinged at the joints, and he had changed halfway into the consistency of a jellyfish. It was not an unpleasant feeling.

“Why would you jump to that conclusion? I’ve never been better than I am now.”

His eyes closed. “Stop that.”

“Stop what?”

“Stop acting like I’m not a monster for having agreed to this.”

“JPope!” he whispered, really upset now. He was pulling this bright memory through the darkness, staining it. “Don’t ever say that.”

JPope didn’t open his eyes; it was like he didn’t want to see him.

“Look at yourself, AEUG. Then tell me I’m not a monster.”

Wounded, shocked, he followed his instruction unthinkingly and then gasped. What had happened to him? AEUG couldn’t make sense of the fluffy white snow that clung to his skin. He shook his head, and a cascade of white drifted out of his hair. He pinched one soft white bit between my fingers. It was a piece of down.

“Why am I covered in feathers?” AEUG asked, confused.

JPope exhaled impatiently. “I bit a pillow. Or two. That’s not what I’m talking about.”

“You… bit a pillow? Why?”

“Look, AEUG!” he almost growled. He took AEUG’s hand—very gingerly—and stretched my arm out. “Look at that.”

This time, he saw what he meant. Under the dusting of feathers, large purplish bruises were beginning to blossom

across the pale skin of AEUG’s arm. His eyes followed the trail they made up to his shoulder, and then down across my ribs. He pulled my hand free to poke at a discoloration on his left forearm, watching it fade where he touched and then reappear. It throbbed a little. So lightly that he was barely touching me, JPope placed his hand against the bruises on my arm, one at a time, matching his long fingers to the patterns.

“Oh,” AEUG said.

He tried to remember this—to remember pain—but he couldn’t. He couldn’t recall a moment when his hold had been too tight, his hands too hard against him. He only remembered wanting JPope to hold him tighter, and being pleased when he did.…

“I’m… so sorry, AEUG,” he whispered while AEUG stared at the bruises. “I knew better than this. I should not have—” He made a low, revolted sound in the back of his throat. “I am more sorry than I can tell you.”

He threw his arm over his face and became perfectly still.

I have corrupted berry. I feel dirty.

But here's the latest installment of what happens when a tornado meets a volcano.

after i fix the formatting

Just gonna stand there and watch me burn

Jpope jumped off the bed, throwing his clothes back on despite the disgusting film that clung to his skin. A shower would’ve felt lovely, but any longer and he would start to have.,,expectations.

AUEG watched in exasperation.

That’s alright because I like the way it hurts

He reached out to his back in vain. How could something so perfect feel so wrong?

Just gonna stand there and hear me cry

And now he leaves. Just like he always does. Even though his limbs ached and his body bore the marks of unbridled passion.

That’s alright because I love the way you lie

“Don’t,” he whispered. “What is wrong with you?”

Jpope tossed him a precursory glance. “I can’t tell you what it really is. I can only tell you what it feels like. Right now it’s a steel knife in my windpipe. I can’t breathe but I still fight while I can. Fight as long as the wrong feels right. It’s like I’m in flight. High off of love drunk from my hate. It’s like I’m huffin’ paint and I love it the more I suffer, I suffocate. And right before I’m about to drown, you resuscitate me. You fuckin’ hate me and I love it.”

“I,” he trailed off, unsure of what to say. It was so much at once, such strong emotions. Jpope picked up his keys off the floor and began to leave. “Wait, where you goin’?”

“I’m leavin’ you.”

“No you ain’t! Come back!”

we’re runnin’ right back, here we go again

He turns and makes a beeline for AUEG’s body laying supine on the bed. Vulnerable. He only opened up like this with him. And right now it disgusted him.

“Its so insane, cause when it’s goin’ good its goin’ great,” AEUG thought, “I’m superman with the wind in his back, he’s Lois Lane.”

But when its bad its awful, I feel so ashamed I snap. Whose that dude? I don’t even know his name

He lays hands on him, that body that he worshiped only hours before, gently caressing the bruises, fighting the urge to make new ones. “I never stoop so low again. Guess I don’t know my own strength,”he thought, gripping his arm and glaring. “You should leave too.”

“You always leave,” he whined. It’s was wrong to do so, but Jpope needed to hear. Needed to hear his emotions. He always played into his cards, his hands. Time to do things his way. “You ever love somebody so much you can barely breathe?”

“Well, earlier,” he remarked with a dry smile. AUEG didn’t laugh. It wasn’t time for a joke. He didn’t feel like laughing. He wanted more.

“When your with em you meet and neither one of you even know what hit em? Get that warm fuzzy feeling?”

“Yeah them chills used to get em,” he replied with annoyance. “Now you’re getting fuckin’ sick of lookin’ at em.”

you swore you’d never hit em, never do nothin’ to hurt em

AUEG’s jaw dropped and he huddled into a ball. How could he? Why did he? These personality changes hurt more than the supposed bruises. “Now you’re in each other’s face spewin’ venom in your words when you spit em,” he thought, trying to hold back his growing rage. How dare he!

“Don’t be mad, Love,” he sighed, “You and I both know emotions have no place in this.”

“This?”

“Yes, this!”

Jpope let out a primal sound, almost a growl and strode to the door, slamming it shut.

AEUG walked to the window, watching him get inside his ’86 souped up chevy camero. The engine roared to life, grumbling like a huge stomach. “You don’t get another chance. Life is no nintendo game, but you lied again. Now I get to watch him leave out the window. Guess that’s why they call it window pane.”

He sighed, leaning against the window, wondering what would happen next.Should he dare to dial...?

Jpope glared at his cellphone. Normally the spunky SNSD warmed his heart with their cute songs. He didn't want to pick up the phone, but if he didn't he'd call day and night like a sad little puppy. At least he was in his car, running like the devil. "What is it," said as he clicked it on.

"I didn't want you to leave."

"I know you didn't," he sighed. "But we can't. We have to keep this secret."

"Why don't you ever show your emotions?"

"Can't you hear sincerity in my voice when I talk? I told you this is my fault."

"Next time-"

"Next time? There won't be a next time."

"It's all lies," AUEG muttered as he slammed the phone shut. There would be a next time. No one acts like that if there wouldn't be a next time. He would be back. And he would make him beg for it.

the end....OR IS IT!?!?!?!!?
