They had the jankepyon tournament today which determined the members that would participate in the A side in their 19th single. But Moeno will be participating in a c/w with a group called MINT in this single, I believe? It was another challenge and her group won (but probably bc Acchan was in her group).

Yes, despite the enormous contradiction inherent in listening to more than one idol group, I do like and follow AKB, although not as closely as MM. I should try to, because despite having listened to them for almost as long as MM, I still don't know as much about them as I should. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hahaha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I should join a forum or something. I didn't even know who Uchida Mayumi was until I saw the senbatsu results.



Also, you're right in that MINT will be recording a B-side, but it's for the 19th single, apparently.

Oh my god, I can't wait for the PV to be released! The scream in Beginner is kind of intense, but I think it's basically the best thing ever.



Who is in MINT? I notice Atsuko, but who are the others?

The members are Atsuko Maeda, Haruka Katayama, Tomomi Kasai, Moeno Nito, and Sakiko Matsui. I'm afraid I don't know much about the members other than Acchan. Moeno is obviously the one that SJ has in her sig. She's only participated in Namida Surprise (I think?) in terms of A-sides. If I'm not mistaken, Tomomi Kasai is probably is the most prominent member of MINT aside from Atsuko.



Speaking of which, I may have to take back what I said about the MINT C/W being on the next single. Some sources are reporting it as being on the single "after Heavy Rotation," rather than the 19th single. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hatthe.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />



EDIT: After some brief research, I'm going to tentatively say that MINT's song will be on Beginner's B-side. That's what S48 is saying, anyway.

I learned about this today from a student (yesterday another student told me that the new single was coming out, without them [and here I guess], I'd know nothing new about AKB). After complaining that our mutual favorite member did not win, she said that an ugly girl won.

CM is very, very nice. Looks like futuristic Bauhaus with added PSPs. This is the kind of AKB single I like. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... joyful.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':joyful:' /> Honestly, I was disappointed with their last two releases, especially Ponytail to Shushu, so it's nice to see AKB being bloody amazing again. This had better beat Heavy Rotation's sales.

Beginner PV Preview

Here's another PV preview. It's supposed to be a preview of the extra footage on the singles with different girls serving as center. The audio kinda sounds funny, like the pitch was raised, btw. In addition, AKB's management announced that the original PV would have to be edited because it was too violent... and the original won't be released in any form. And the MINT PV was shown in pigg yesterday!

MINT's a fictional group with 6 singles. This song being the 6th single. The PV is about their break up. And they actually show their previous singles and outfits which is kinda fun. It's a slow song, not ballad-y, but yeah. Moeno is there woooo~~~~

There's a more detailed account of what was going in the PV here. Prepare for a bunch of fluff though. Well, scratch what I said about the original PV not being released. It's going to be released on cellphone for download which will make it difficult for foreigners to watch. But I'm sure we'll get to watch it somehow, but the quality probably won't be great... Either way, I'm glad we're getting it in some form!

It wasn't overly bloody, but it was definitely violent. I mean, they chopped a girl's head in half, and smashed another girl's head flat!



But... this song is addicting!



The first few seconds of the song really hooked me in, and the rest of the song after that was very emotion, in the sense that the song clearly showed the listener they were struggling for something. That's my take on it, at least (I don't know a word of Japanese).
