2NE1
2NE1 are a YG Entertainment group formed in 2009, marketed originally as a "female Big Bang." Fittingly, they debuted in a song with Big Bang (Lollipop) and released their first solo single, Fire, shortly after. Their name means "New Evolution of the 21st Century," which is just a lame way to explain away that they changed their name from 21 at the last minute due to someone else using it already.

To summarize, cutesy is not their thing. Their songs are typically pretty hip-hop (and more recently, electronica) inspired, and they are very strong on girl power. Their fashion is unique, sometimes to the point of being ridiculous... but they can always be described as fierce.
MEMBERS

CL (Lee Chae-Rin): Fearless leader. 22 years old. Supposedly speaks English, Korean, French, and Japanese. Born in Seoul, but lived much of her life traveling around England, Japan and France. She is essentially the face of the group and invariably gets the most vocal and visual focus. She's pretty stoic around fans and gets way into her "baddest female" persona some days, but we love her anyway. Sometimes she shows her thighs and young men the world over get carried out on stretchers.

Dara (Sandara Park): 29 years old. Speaks Korean, English, and Tagalog. Originally debuted in the Phillipines after competing on a show called Star Circle Quest. She has a girlier, somewhat less powerful voice than the others, but has enough chutzpah to steal the spotlight from CL and Minzy routinely on their TV show. She is by far the most cheerful of the bunch and seems like a genuine sweetheart. She's put herself in charge of mothering other members and communicating with fans, and does a fine job of both.

Bom (Park Bom): 29 years old. Speaks Korean and English. In charge of lead vocals and short skirts. Let me get this out of the way: this girl is hilarious. Between her incredible lethargy, her addiction to corn, and her constant quest to avoid her trainer, she's essentially what makes 2NE1TV worth watching. She reminds me of tarepanda, if tarepanda liked telling people they have big butts and hid under tables while eating corn cold from a can.

Minzy (Gong Min-ji): 19 years old. Speaks Korean, attempts English. She's part of the more serious half of the group, along with CL. Discovered via an internet clip of her sick dance movez, the youngest member of 2NE1 primarily finishes out the "rap" portions of songs with CL. This baffles me, since her deep singing voice is very pleasant. When everyone else is off eating and molesting stuffed animals, she's hitting the treadmill and practicing diligently. Their CEO has done his best to stop her overly sexy dancing, but typically resorts to putting her in an oversized trenchcoat and hoping no one tries to arrest him for distributing child pornography. (Edit: She's legal now, so her CEO lets her grind floors with reckless abandon.)

2NE1TV
For such a popular group, 2NE1 rarely make variety, interview and comedy show appearances. This is just as well, because when they do it often ends up being super awkward for everyone involved. It's almost cringe-worthy sometimes, which makes their TV appearances outside of performances that much more sincere. [Edit: As fpd pointed out, they did have a Strong Heart appearance that worked out well.]
2NE1TV is a show dedicated to just following them around, a la MTV's Diary series. Since it's not scripted, there are periods when it's both uncomfortable and a bit boring... but it's also filled with genuinely hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking moments. Because YG Entertainment rules, they put up english subtitled versions of all the episodes on 2NE1's youtube channel. Overall, I give it two huge thumbs up. WATCH IT.
WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH ALL THE CORN
Bom really likes corn, like probably more than you like air. Subsequently, the corn cob has become a symbol of 2NE1 fandom. It's on the concert merchandise and everything. We're classy that way.

THERE. I had to get it out of my system. Everything in its place, and a place for everything.
