Watarirouka Hashiritai 7 cover Valentine Kiss

Some background info first : Watarirouka Hashiritai now known as Watarirouka Hashiritai 7 (since Iwasa Misaki, and Komori Mika were added) is a sub-group from AKB48 made up of mostly Team B members. It's a revival group of Ushirogami Hikaretai, a sub-group from Onyanko Club.







Members are (In Order) : Oota Aika, Nakagawa Haruka, Hirajima Natsumi, Watanabe Mayu, Kikuchi Ayaka, Iwasa Misaki, Komori Mika.



But the only one I know (can care about) is Mayu cause she's awesome.







Okay so anyway, they released their first single for 2011 (It's being released the same day as Buono's single) and it's a cover of Kokusho Sayuri's Valentine Kiss. They are also releasing two other versions all with a different third song so you'll have to buy them all because they also come with 1 of 7 trading cards and a lottery ticket so you can win a ticket to a Valentine's Day special live with a handshake event or a White Day premium event. So expect this to top at #1 on the oricon charts, because that's how Akimoto rolls.



Anyway, the PV for Valentine Kiss was released today. You can watch it here for now but it might disappear soon.





Now, Valentine Kiss is one of my all time favorite Onyanko era songs and I've become somewhat attached to this sub-group but... I don't understand why they needed to add more members. It was fine as it was and I don't think the new girls add anything special to the group. (Just sayin' that none of them can sing, but they idols from AKB48.) So they sound best when they are singing together. But since this was originally a solo song, there are a lot of solos from each member and uhm... yeah you should just listen because my ears have been raped by years of idol abuse so I'm probably just overlistening and sad that they changed the arrangement so much. I'll just go pout in a corner now.

Only gripe would be that no matter how many members are added (I prefer the original group anyway), any song they release is going to feel like Mayuyu ft. Warota.. I am really glad that they were ALL given solo lines though!

They always ALL have solo lines, usually Mayu just gets a verse or two to herself.

It's more the feel of the PVs. Their first songs, like Hatsukoi Dash, seemed to share screen time around if i remember correctly.. Or maybe that is because they had less members and it was less noticeable. This PV, however, tries to focus on Mayu every single moment that it's not someone elses solo line. What? We're going to have X carrying heavy items like they might drop them any second? Let's stick Mayu in front, smiling, getting in the way of the scene, shall we? Can't have them stealing her screentime.



Don't get me wrong, warota might not be anything without her, but it would be nice to notice her because she stands out naturally, not because she's been forced into view every 5 seconds or so.

Wait, there are 7 now? Ouch. Mayu sells, so she's gonna be out there a whole bunch, but in this case having all the extra people actually outshone her. Her voice was terribly annoying in this song, as was everyone's plastic faces. Also, I hope my computer was lagging, and they aren't actually that terrible at lip-syncing.



I did like the contrast between the bright idols and the machinery (despite how fake it looked), but I really don't want to eat chocolate made from that rust machine.

I think the Wataririouka Hashiritai 7 thing is only for this release, but I could be wrong. WH is actually my least favorite AKB48 subgroup <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... unsure.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> but I found the PV pretty cute.



The song, on the other hand... I think it was the way they sang that made me kind of twitch when I listened to it. They've been singing in this weird cutesy voice since AkKanbe Bashi, and I've found it annoying every time...

Why do I have to see this ugly, empty-eyes Zombieface everywhere !?!

She annoys me so extremely. More than any other member in any other idol group right now.



The song, while not horrible, is a bit too much candy for my taste. I like the sailor fuku.

Aw that's a cute song and clip, but it sounds like an anime ending song or something, the voices are a bit strained!

The girl's voices are incredibly annoying, and the mix is SO LOUD and obnoxious. I wasn't expecting it to be anywhere near as good as the original, but I honestly didn't think it would be this bad.
