Kinda hope they make Mizuki's bangs look less greasy in the nearest future. :/

Don't want to be reminded of Jurina from AKB.

I tried to understand Riho's text, but I didn't really fully understand everything, so take this with a grain of salt:

Riho says something about Go Girl! (probably Koi no victory) and wanting to become a singer.

She read about the audition on the internet and immediately applied.

(some of the Kanji I can't read and am just guessing)

When she got told she passed the audition (or the internet thing, I'm not sure) she couldn't believe it.

There were a lot of difficult words (or language) and she thought "guess now I'm entering the world of adults".

Here comes the hard to decipher part for me:

Before meeting the other members she got told she's very fashionable.

When she shook hands with the others she got told "long time no see !" (ohisashiburi) [this is probably wrong]

[???]

Fukumura told her several things about politeness.

She thinks Erina (Ikuta) is an airhead/spontaneous (the kanji can be read as both)

[??something with good relationship with others ??]

She wants to become the leader.

She wants to show expressiveness, efficiency and put great effort into this.

Feel free to fill in the blanks and correct my translation. hah

Isn't "天然" more like, Ikuta is so natural (I'm assuming she means, not fake or too studied)? This fits more with the spontaneous definition you have. I've never heard of this word used in the context of "airhead" in the pejorative sense but not a native speaker so...

Mizuki

1. Motive for auditioning?

Ever since I was little, I've loved Morning Musume so when I was in 5th grade I auditioned to be an Egg. This time, I heard there was a chance to join Morning Musume so I tried out.

2. Your feelings when you found out you got in?

When I heard that an Egg got in, I didn't think it was me so I was genuinely surprised.

3. Your impressions when you met Morning Musume

Michishige-san was so kind and funny. Takahashi san was super nice and Mitsui-san is always smiling. Even though Niigaki-san has an (can't read) image when we practice together, in reality she is so nice. Tanaka-san’s way of speaking is cute

NOTE: EVERYONE BUT REINA IS NICE

4. Your impressions of each 9th gen member?

Riho-chan .......(sorry, can't read)

Erina-chan seems like a quiet girl at first but, she's surprisingly genki and has a really LOUD voice haha. Kanon-chan was the first ....something can't raed and she's funny.

4. Future goal (can't read)

I want to be someone who can sing sad songs and fun songs. She'll work hard blahblah

Overall impression - she seems sweet.

-----

Kanon

1. Motive for auditioning?

When I went out on my daily walk with my mom, she says "today it seems there is an audition." so I said "Well then, I'll audition!"

2. Your feelings when you found out you got in?

"Are you okay with me!?" To think that someone like me, with no singing or dancing experience got in - it will be a disaster. But, I thought it would do no good to say that so I just stayed quiet haha.

Love her.

3. Your impressions when you met Morning Musume

The first time, it was like "Ahhh celebrities!" When I gave Michishige-san snacks, I hoped that she'd (can't read) to me.

4. Your impressions of each 9th gen member?

Riho-chan seems cool but, in the music room she'll do komanechi (?). Aah! I just told something secret! Erina-chan(can't read). When I was alone with Fukumura-san, she felt like a big sister to me.

4. Future goal

I want to make my fans smile. I want to be a character like, when you're with me, you naturally start to smile. Also, I want to learn a foreign language and sing and dance all over the world.

Overall impression: she is hilarious. I'm happy she has no filter.

------

Ikuta Erina:

1. Motive for auditioning?

I first became a fan with Mr Moonlight and then I wanted to audition for 8th gen but I was only a 3rd grader. When I heard that 4th graders were allowed to audition, I decided to.

2. Your feelings when you found out you got in?

During the audition, I made so many mistakes in singing and dancing that I wondered "is it really okay?" When I heard the results, I was so happy that I couldn't even understand.

3. Your impressions when you met Morning Musume

Everyone's faces were so small. When I was in training, I had to sing and dance and made so many mistakes in front of so many people. However, for them to sing and dance with no mistakes in front of the same, I thought they were really amazing.

4. Your impressions of each 9th gen member?

Kanon-chan is someone who you can't suppress your smile? (or she can't help but smile). I want to learn from her. When Mizuki sang "Honki Bomber!!" I felt her love for hello project. Riho always seems quiet but, when she starts dancing、she becomes "kiri" (?) and she has a lot of expression in her dance.

4. Future goal

I'm not good at singing so first, I'll work hard at the talk and dance.

Overall impression: her answers are so....proper that it seems almost contrived. Or, at the very least boring.

Komanechi!

Anyone who does that has to be a fun loving, down to earth kid who is not trying to take over the group. Let's see that again.

After much squinting and some help from a friend, I've finally got all these tiny, blurry, white kanji figured out xD

The Strongest in Morning Musume's history!?

The 9th Generation is Chosen!!!

After closing 2010 with the graduation of 3 members, Morning Musume adds long awited new members. This innocence is just too much. ♪ And then, at the new year concerts, Leader Takahashi Ai announced her graduation…..Once again we can't take our eyes off of this year's raging Morning Musume storm!!

Ikuta Erina, 13 years old

'97-7-7, born in Fukuoka prefecture. Cancer. A-type.

The reason you auditioned:

The first song I got really into was "Mr. Moonlight~," and I wanted to audition for the 8th generation, but I was only a 3rd year elementary school student. This time when I heard there was going to be an audition for the first time in four years, I thought I'd try out.

Your thoughts when you found out you got in:

During the audition, I failed at both dancing and singing, so I felt like "Is it really okay for me to get in?" When I first heard that I'd passed, I was so happy I can't even explain it.

Your thoughts when you first met the Morning Musume members:

I thought "everyone has such a small face." When I was at the training hall, I messed up the songs and the dances in front of only a few people, so I think it's amazing that they can sing and dance in front of so many people without messing up the lyrics.

Your thoughts about each of the 9th generation members:

Kanon-chan is the type who can't contain her smile, so I'd like to watch and learn from her. When Mizuki sung "Maji Bomber!!" I could feel her love for Hello! Pro. Riho always seems so quiet, but when she starts dancing she comes alive. I think she dances with a lot of expression.

Your future goals:

I'm not that fond of singing, so at first I'm going to work on my talking and dance skills!

Sayashi Riho, 12 years old

'98-5-28, born in Hiroshima prefecture, Gemini, AB-type.

The reason you auditioned:

When I was in kindergarten, I preformed "Go Girl~" on Parents' Day, and that made me want ot become a singer. This time I read about the audition on the internet and applied right away.

Your thoughts when you found out you got in:

When I first heard that I'd passed, it didn't feel real. When I looked at the documents I was given there were so many difficult words, so I felt the reality of "I'm enterting the adult world."

Your thoughts when you first met the Morning Musume members:

Before I was able to be in the play "Fashionable." So when I passed and shook everyone's hands, they said "It's been a long time," and I was happy they remembered me.

Your thoughts about each of the 9th generation members:

People say at first I seem quiet, but if you get to know me I can be crazy (lol). Kanon-chan can get just as excited, so she's fun. Fukumura-san has taught me a lot, like proper etiquette, and has been really helpful. Erina-chan is very genuine.

Your future goals:

My goal is to become leader, so I'm going to be strict on myself and work very hard to improve my expressiveness and talent.

Suzuki Kanon, 12 years old

'98-8-5, born in Aichi prefecture, Leo, B-type.

The reason you auditioned:

When I was out for a daily walk with my mom, said said "It seems they're having an audition right now," so I said "Really? Well, I'll enter!"

Your thoughts when you found out you got in:

Are they really okay with me!? I thought it would be terrible if some like me who's never danced or sung before joined. But I thought it would be bad if I said that, so I kept quiet (lol).

Your thoughts when you first met the Morning Musume members:

On the first day, I felt like "Ah, they're stars!" When I gave Michishige-san some snacks, I hoped she would remember me.

Your thoughts about each of the 9th generation members:

Riho-chan seems really cool, but she does stuff like komanechi in the dressing room [Note: a comedy gag]. Ah, I just told a secret! Eri-chan will talk to me assertively. When I was alone with Fukumura-san, it felt like we were sisters.

Your future goals:

I want to make the fans smile for lots of reasons. I always want to be the kind of character where just being around me makes people smile. Also, I want to learn a foreign language and be able to dance and sing in a way that can be understood around the world!

Fukumura Mizuki, 14 years old

'96-10-30, born in Tokyo ward, Scorpio, O-type.

The reason you auditioned:

I've loved Morning Musume-san since I was little, so I auditioned for the eggs when I was a 5th year elementary school student. I thought this was my chance to enter Morning Musume, so I auditioned.

Your thoughts when you found out you got in:

When I heard an egg had gotten in too, I didn't think it was me so I was truely surprised.

Your thoughts when you first met the Morning Musume members:

Michishige-san is a kind and funny person. Takahashi-san is really kind, Mitsui-san is always smiling. Niigaki-san has the image of being really strict during lessons, but she's actually really nice. Tanaka-san's way of speaking is cute.

Your thoughts about each of the 9th generation members:

Riho-chan's talent at dancing really left an impression on me. At first I thought Erina-chan was a quiet girl, but she's actually really energetic and has a loud voice (lol). Kanon-chan did the one minute-sketch during her audition and seems funny.

Your future goals:

I want to be able to easily sing both sad songs and fun songs. I want to have confidence as a member of Morning Musume and set myself apart.

Awesome translations. Thanks.

Everyone obviously loves Sayumi, and I can only say they have good taste. I feel like Kanon is going to be everybody's friend in the future. Riho is cute but judging by the comments the other new members made I hope she doesn't get stuck in a position for just being known as 'the dancer'. As for Erina, I'm amazed that she says she doesn't really like to sing. As for Mizuki, she seems so professional but she's pretty cute, so I hope to see more of her.

Best. Generation. Ever.

Think about it, ok we may have grown to like generation as time passed by but I can't remember a single generation that has exploded character wise like this one.

They are all talented and have personalities that endear them to the general public.

Don't want to get ahead of myself here but things are looking good.

Erina's response was the most boring. But, I hope this means she will make the most improvements. She's still giving me an Eri vibe! Eri was so boring in the beginning too and it was really amazing seeing how much she progressed.

Riho:

Q: What are your special skills ?

Penmanship and (I think this is massage).

Q: What are your hobbies ?

Listening to music and sleeping.

Q: What's your nickname ?

Yasshii

[ Q.これだけは誰にも負けないということは?

My family is important to me. ] I'm not sure about the question + answer here.

Q: What food do you like ?

Peaches, chicken wings, sushi, Kaki (Japanese persimmon)

Q: What's your favourite motto ?

"Whatever doesn't kill us only makes us stronger".

Q: What words/expressions do you like ?

"Once in a lifetime encounter"

Meeting people is important to me.

Q: What colors do you like ?

Pink, white, black, (some mixture between) yellow and green.

Q: What do you like about your hometown ? (actually it just says "hometown pride" when translated 1:1)

In winter the Kaki are very delicious.

Every year we bake and eat them at home.

The question you are unsure of is

"What is the one thing you can not lose to anyone"

So she said that she treats her family the nicest... bit of a weird answer and the use of kazoku (family) might not mean just her blood family but any kind of group of friends or work colleagues etc, for eg. Morning Musume.

Kanon's answer..... I won't lose a high spirits contest or a keeping a smile on your face the longest concert..

Seriously Kanon <3

She thinks Erina (Ikuta) is an airhead/spontaneous (the kanji can be read as both)
Isn't "天然" more like, Ikuta is so natural (I'm assuming she means, not fake or too studied)? This fits more with the spontaneous definition you have. I've never heard of this word used in the context of "airhead" in the pejorative sense but not a native speaker so...
I was wrong! This word is also slang for ditsy/airhead!!
