Namie Amuro - Checkmate!

Post by neshcom »

Namie's got a new colaboration album coming out, "Checkmate!" It was brought up in the After School thread, but there's been a lot more than just yer china-girl sitting action. The album's got 4-ish new songs and there are going to be PVs for all 4. There will be a CD and CD+DVD version. Namie will also be embarking on a 2011 arena tour shortly.

Track List (bold is new with PV, italic is old with PV):

1. Wonder Woman feat AI and Anna Tsuchiya

2. make it happen feat AFTERSCHOOL

3. #1 feat Kaname of Chemistry

4. Unusual feat Yamashita Tomohisa (YAMAPI)

5. Black Out feat VERBAL (M-Flo) & Lil Wayne

6. FAKE feat AI

7. Rock U – ravex feat Namie Amuro

8. Black Diamond feat DOUBLE

9. Do What You Gotta Do – ZEEBRA feat AI, Mummy-D, and Namie Amuro

10. Luvotomy – m-flo loves Namie Amuro

11. Do Or Die – JHETT feat Namie Amuro

12. After Party – ZEEBRA feat Namie Amuro

13. Wet’N Wild – Heartsdale feat SWEET CHIC

There's definitely that old hip-hip Namie on here, but some of her more recent pop works have seeped in too.

FIERCE.

I like Wonder Woman the most out of the bolded stuff. Second is the after school collab. She's such a boss, sitting the entire time while the other girls are dancing. Her swag too, hella boss. I haven't seen her in such a long time, she's really grown. Still making way through other stuff.

I think this is the most slang I've ever used at once. ;_;

Was it just me who assumed she almost never stood at the same time as After School so that she wouldn't look short compared to the other girls? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hahaha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hahaha:' />

PV for Unusual feat. Yamashita Tomohisa is out. I like Wonder Woman and make it happen a lot more than this song. It's just not sticking in my head.

That's... REALLY funny. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /lmfao.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lmfao:' /> It's true, they almost never stand up at the same time. And when they do, it's for a few quick seconds, and Namie's platform is ahead of all of the other girls so they seem shorter based on the perspective. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Well, she won't be able to hide it during performances!

Also, fully agree with what you said about the link you posted. I skimmed through the song and it didn't catch my attention.

The video for #1 was released. It's much more hip-hop than the other songs. Of the new songs, this is my least favorite, both the song and the PV.

I really thought that Namie in the chair was used to great effect. It made the dance more interesting and it came off as nothing short of FIERCE. GET IT FLAWLESS PRECIOUS BB etc. (This is Arama They Didn't now.)

I wasn't laughing at her. I just thought it was interesting and amusing that it could be true that they tried to hide it. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... popper.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':popper:' />

That aside, it was pretty boss and used to great effect, yes. Not questioning that.

I am not angry, I just wanted to use my Chang gif! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Unless you meant Petit. She probably wants to chew your arms off.

I did. And I need my arms!

Back on topic, Namie's album song titles should've been various chess openings.

1. Queen's Gambit Declined

2. Budapest

3. French Defense

4. Black Knights' Tango

5. Hedgehog

6. King's Indian

7. Giuoco Piano

8. Ruy Lopez

9. Maróczy Bind

10. London System

11. Oh My God!

12. Accelerated Dragon

I wasn't making fun, just sharing what I honestly thought. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nfused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I'm pretty sure I'm even shorter than Amuro, so to me, she's more of a normal height while the After School girls are freakishly tall.

Okay, from now on...

I am always facetious about this stuff unless your name is Dark Ridley, because then I mean it with the fires of a million suns bursting into supernovas creating the greatest big bangs we could never imagine.

Ok, whew, good. I was getting tired of holding my arms up so you wouldn't get at them and chew them off. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ek3run.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':eekrun:' />

<img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /lmfao.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lmfao:' /> Imagining Petit desperately jumping to try and reach Sanch's arms. Laughing. Laughing so hard I think I broke something.

My Chang gif is still appropriate.

On topic, I really approve of most of these songs. Of course a new album I want would pop up, right after I give up illegal downloading. I wonder if it'll end up on Soribada since After School are in it, but probably not.

Please, it's not as if I was much taller next to him. He had more than a full foot on me. I never tried to fight him, though.

Plus I desire to be ever-shorter and thinner. I want to shrink and shrink until I am Yaguchi sized and can hide in lockers and overhead plane compartments.

Hm, all the new songs are different from her previous songs. None really interest me right off the bat, but none are bad, and I think they'll turn out to be growers.

I'm terribly sad there's no actual dancing going on in any of the videos though... I guess this is the result of Namie choosing not to promote anymore though, which is equally a travesty. :(

Reminded me: the PV for unusual came out. It's totes got dancing! Also more sitting. I think we're seeing less dancing here, because 1) 74-year-olds shouldn't be dancing very much and 2) I think they're really trying to pimp the people they got to sing on these tracks more than the songs themselves.

I hope her coming arena tour turns into that final m-flo tour where a ton of the collaborators came and sang (including Namie!) and not like Double's collaboration album tour where no one but Namie came.

Understandably, Checkmate! has been delayed until an unknown time. avex has a PDF announcing the delays of all releases being released through March. Included in the delay: Ayumi HAmasaki's ayu-mi-x 7 series, BoA's newest DVD, Kago Ai's new DVD, and the new capsule album.

Unfortunately, the disasters threw off the momentum for this album, but it's finally going to be released April 27!

Update/reminder! Checkmate! released last week and debuted at #1 this week at, like 270,000 units. The album, which I like a lot, also came with a special bonus track of WANT ME, WANT ME that VERBAL rapped over a while ago.
