Theme music.

This is sort of cluttering up the spam thread and it seems like several people are playing it (or planning to), so let's discuss it here! Will your Pokemon team have a theme? What designs do you like? Did you get Black or White?

I am liking things so far, although I hate my "best friends" and the Pokemon Musical segment was the fruitiest thing I've ever seen in my life. Also, the gym leaders are so delightfully non-sequitur this time around. Of course the supermodel gym trainer would have a gym that's an amusement park. What else could it be?

Oh, one thing. Do I seriously have to wait until I beat the game to get a freaking fishing rod?

My theme is that my team is full of as many cute Pokemon possible while also having strong ones. Hahaha...

Yeah, I was happy to see so many responses in the spam thread, but it was taking over, so good plan.

Pokemon White, currently have 2 badges. Started with Snivy (named Sayashi). A captured rock pokemon was holding an Everstone, so I gave it to Snivy to avoid hitting B when he tries to evolve. Perfect. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... umbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

' /> I like how they give new move possibilities even if you choose not to evolve them. The final evolution is pretty smug, so I may evolve it eventually. I feel like in past games, my starter was always way more leveled than everything else, but now I want to balance all of them.

Lenora kicked my ass. Sure they shouted the secret to winning against her 100 times, but still. I kinda had to put her pokemon to sleep just to win. This was no battle with Misty.

So the nickname(rater)changer guy is in the same city as the 3rd Gym. I expected that to come later. The design of the city is really cool, I love how they just busted out a whole new format for that one area.

Everyone hates Pansear, but is that because he was given to you and starts off slow? I was given Panpour, but I later caught a wild Pansear in the pinwheel forest (random shaky grass where rare pokemon show up) That was the first time that it wasn't Audino. He pulls his weight, I'm ok with him.

I love how the NPCs just hand stuff over, no quests, no side missions. They just say... HERE, TAKE THIS ITEM. I had a Lillipup that picked up items after battles, but he lost the ability as soon as he evolved. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ryalot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' /> It was a great power, he didn't even have to be in the battle and he would get random items at the end.

I guess my set's theme is variety, but leaning toward Psychic attacks. Most are named after H!P song titles. Occasionally, I do something goofier, like when I named my Woobat "Pattinson". <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' />

I've got White. Through online trades, I managed to obtain all three starters and as of reaching the airport town (forget the name), they are all in final form. I think I like Samurott the best. I am now facing the ethical dilema of whether it would be considered cheating to continue using them all on the same team.

I haven't gotten there yet, but I think you get Surf before the end of the game. You can catch fish that way.

Lenora completely throttled me, and everyone I've spoken to. I didn't expect her Pokemon to be at the level they were, and I blatantly ignored all the tips I was given because I was smug about my levels. I beat her easily the second time, but only because I went out and rage-fought some wild Pokemon for an hour. I took out one of the later gym leaders with one Pokemon, one hit, for basically his entire team. It didn't seem to be a consistent challenge level, is my point, so maybe Lenora was a fluke.

I have 5 badges so far. I WANT A SIGILYPH. I can't run into one no matter how much I trudge around the desert, and it makes me crazy.

Pansear was just a mess. He routinely got whooped by wild Pokemon 5 levels below him, and his attacks are crap. He actually seemed to get worse as I progressed; when I first got him his suckiness wasn't as blatant. It was after I spent some time training him that I realized he was going to poop his pants when anything over a level 10 came at him.

I am trying to stay away from the internet for the most part during this play through, but that also results in me doing stupid things like not realizing you can easily find rustling grass/dust. I just sort of thought it was super rare, and I never even got to walk into it before I read about the "method." (You know, running around at the edge of some grass until one shakes. Duh.) I am irrationally frustrated by not being able to reach the water bubbles yet.

Yeah, you get surf before the end. I'm not entirely sure where, but I saw it mentioned briefly when I was checking about the rod.

I got Black too. Honestly Black city over White Forest anyday. Also feel kinda bad, cause i got the Collectors edition game guide with my game. Giving me plenty of warning of Any and ALL Friends and Gymleaders.

But even with it telling me to be level 53 and my seashell (Samurott, 3rd form beginning water pokemon) being level 57, i still got my ass handed to me on a pretty silver platter.

I go for freakishly strong pokemon, Cute is nice, but to a point.

Also Named my Reshiram WHITE! (that's right i named the main legendary White in Black. If i had white i would name Zekrom Black)

OH and IF you are going to try and get Victini, pokemon number 000, it's a BITCH to capture. I think i went through 40 or 50 Ultra balls with it only having 1HP (thanks to the move ENDURE) before i finally caught the little bitch. IT"S A LEVEL 15!!!!!!!!!Serisouly one major major pain in the ass.

Also got the pokemon Larvesta, and it's a TORCH pokemon so i named it Sunny.

My favorite nickname I ever gave to a pokemon is the one i gave to Cobalion,

or as i call him, Moustachio

When you beat the game you can go to the sound guy in the gamefreak building and he'll play the old VS team rocket theme. Tis' interesting.

On another which on of you got the celebi before the release of the game at Gamestop????

you had to get that celebi to get Zorua, i'm Zorua is no longer cute though, evolved to Zoroark. Had to let it evolve eventually, so at level 100 i did.

I was gonna get Celebi, but ended up not going to Game Stop because I forgot about it till the last day. I'll just get it somewhere else :P

I really hate Pansear, but I'm gonna wait till it learns it last move at level 42 then evolve it. It's at level 28 now. Hopefully it'll be better then. I'd evolve it now, but it's evolved form doesn't learn new moves on its own. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /sleep.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='-_-' />

Even though I started with Osahwott which could have KO'd his Pokemon with one move, I beat Clay with only my Petilil, and then used Herdier to finish of the last one cause Petilil had low HP or something.

Somehow, I actually didn't think of how Robert sounds like WOOBAT. It was just because of vampire bats. He evolved anyway, but now he has Heart Stamp & the Attraction move. Female pokemon fall in love with him all the time. Also, he caries an amulet that makes extra money for every battle featuring him. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /weeeh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':weeeh:' />

Ash looks good dressed as Ash!

Some of the new ones are kind of weird, I have to admit. I think their biggest problem is, they start out with a good base form and fuck up the evolution. I don't know when the added "everstones" to the series, but I think that's their way of indirectly admitting that evolution design is severely lacking. Oh, since Gen II. Luckily this example doesn't evolve on its own:

Overall, it feels pretty much like the original game, but way more convenient, and I guess this is my first time playing a proper pokemon game in full color.

TMs are reusable. That just blew my mind. Also, I have 6 badges already and my pokemon are barely past level 30. After Lenora, everyone was a breeze.

Whatever, the frozen snot bear is adorable. So is Emolga, but what a horrible name for a cute pokemon. Emolga sounds like some poison or rock monster, but no, it's a flying squirrel. GameFreak, this is where it's okay to forget about the Japanese name (Emonga), you just changed a letter and messed up the meaning anyway, why not give it something cuter.

White Forest has 30+ additional Pokemon(from older games), I don't see how they balanced this for Black.

It was pretty easy to get the (non-Lenora) badges, so I have all 8 now.

I caught him! If you fight him, he runs away, but comes back AS LONG AS YOU DON'T KILL HIM. Odd, he keeps the damage & status effects from the previous time. A bitch to catch. I named him Lakitu.
