Pucchi, Petit Melon and I came up with this idea in chat.

IDOL CUPCAKE CHALLENGE

The rules are simple:

1) Choose a musical group. K-pop, J-pop, American, whatever! Idols preferred, just because, but it isn't required. We're limiting the number of cupcakes to 4, so you can either choose a 4 member group or choose to do 4 members of a larger group.

2) Make a cupcake representing each member. Interpret their personalities however you want: in flavor, presentation, even cupcake wrapper. Just be creative.

3) Take pictures and post them here along with an explanation of who each cupcake represents and why.

4) You have until August 1st to submit your Idol cupcakes.

Just make a Tsunku cupcake as the 4th.

I'm surprised you didn't pick 9th gen. Cookie Cupcakes.

This is Iron Chef not Iron...ch.. Cheat. Yeah, that works.

However, if someone wants to take 2nd gen Tanpopo, it would be okay if someone else also did 3rd gen or 2009 Revival version. As long as most of the girls are different or the group is different.

You could even reveal them on the last day so it doesn't affect Sadude's design.

So I started thinking about how I was going to make MKB cupcakes.

I wanted the Masae cupcake to be manly and badass, so my secret ingredients were:

[Beer & Bacon!!!]

*Iron Chef camera pans around a table full of beer bottles, cans & strips of bacon*

I will definitely use melon flavors in some way. Hey, maybe one should be made with Midori, if I can work with the bright green along with my plan to use their official colors. I guess I could just make the wrappers contain their concert colors.

Shibata:Vanilla(because it has to be standard and inoffensive)

Saito:probably a really intense chocolate flavor

Otani:Beer & Bacon

Question::

Do the cupcakes have to be sweet? Like can I make a savory cupcake, but in doing so it might be classified as muffin if I did that which in name isn't the same, but structure they are, right?

Also are Madelines considered a cupcake? They don't have a cupcake liner, but they are a cake. I found them in my book of sweets under cupcakes so I want a official ruling on it from the BBSweet judges.

This is possibly going to take me till the 1st of August to do all this prepping and baking because I'm going away for a full week to Maine and nothing bakes up in Maine that isn't on a grill.

Here's how I'd do them (but I'm not).

Wada: Dark chocolate because she's so damn tan and a mini Arno Breker profile in white. She loves high art and hates foreigners so a famous Nazi sculptor would make a nice reference <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /weeeh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':weeeh:' /> Savor it with some Wagner in the background and a glass of wine.

Kanon: Pumpkin cake and cream cheese frosting with some Cinderella stuff on top. The pumpkin/cinderella is because she's Cinderella obviously. The cream cheese is because she's cheesy. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /pouty.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':pouty:' /> She's the otaku in the group so the cake can't be anything too snobby.

Yuuka: Angel food cupcake with strawberry frosting and ribbons and hearts because she's all pink and white and adorable. Also, it comes with a pot brownie because, there is something seriously off about that one <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hawhaw.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hawhaw:' />

Saki: Saki does not get a cupcake but one of those gigantic costco muffins. She doesn't do Lil'Pri with the other girls and wasn't in Shugo Chara either. She's on her own tv show and she's younger and she's always just slightly excluded. Plus, she's a pig so she gets the giant muffin.
