The Meaning of the Term "Visual"

I really have to ask something, that might sound like the worlds stupidest question or something like that but anyways:



All kpopgroup members has a position like; dancer, main vocals, rapper etc.

But what does it mean when a member has the position visual?

Like the MBLAQ members Lee Joon and Thunder is.

It means you're the pretty one for people to look at.

I don't think anyone is ever given the position visual by the company. It's more of a fan thing, especially since it usually carries the connotation that you're the untalented one. Either that or it just means they're the most recognizable member of the group to the general public.



It's more common for girl groups.



SNSD - Yoona

4minute - Hyunah

2ne1 - Dara

Wonder Girls - Sohee

After School - Uee

KARA - Hara

f(x) - Krystal if you go by recognition, Sulli if you go by looks

T-ara - Jiyeon

Miss A - Suzy



Dara, Sohee and Hara do a good job of ramming home the idea that the visual is the usually the (very) weak link. Although KARA is basically a group of five visuals as far as I'm concerned.

Sohee is my favorite member of the group, but I would not call her a good singer in any way.
