Sakanaction - Boku to Hana / all purpose gushing about this band

Post by Pucchi-Mo »

I'm stupidly in love with this band, this is probably their slowest single, but it still has a nice groove to it.

It's kind of melancholy and eerie, I don't know if it's the radio rip doing this, but there's a certain beautiful lo-fi & detuned sound that adds to the feeling.

I love the badass instrumental break with the distorted guitars and dancing bassline. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ohyeah.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D/' /> Only thing is, that part is teasingly short.

Speaking of teasers, they are promoting another song, I believe this is track 2, "Neptunus"

I was thinking of the planet at first, but it's probably in reference to the god of the sea, since it fits with the whole, fish related words thing they do. (Sakanaquarium tour) <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

-or even better, it's a peak at a future release. There's no mention of the c/w being a tie-in.

SPACE SHOWER TV STATION ID Lead singer, Yamaguchi commanding floating orbs.

A preview with more singing MODE Gakuen CM Dancer, JONTE' doing high kicks to the track.

I work stupid hours these days + I'm a budding rock star. However, I actually did post in a few H!P song threads recently.

Back to the song please. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... pyeyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I need to hear this in better quality. I don't like radio rips much. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hahaha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hahaha:' />

It's out!

Boku to Hana: Full quality reveals a lot of nice subtleties with echos and pulsating elements. There is still some sort of detuned sound in this, but it's of course not lo-fi.

Neptunus: So it wasn't the CM song as previously suspected. Very mellow intro, a drum beat that leads you forth, acoustic strumming, and finally Yamaguchi with an echoing falsetto. Ok, it's going to be a floaty deep under the sea song. It's pleasant, and layers keep building up. Nice how the other members appear eventually. Ok, slowly winning me over. There are parts that really remind me of their song [Years] from the DocumentaLy album. Even the fact that it takes a while for me to get into the song.

ROOKIE(Takkyu Ishino Remix): They begin with the group chorus part that is kind of inaudible in the original version, but make it sort of eerie and they isolate it to only the female vocals. The sustained synth kind of reminds me of Thriller. Actually, the repeating bassline sounds sort of Thriller inspired too. The synth percussion sounds like something I've used and it's driving me crazy to think of what program exactly. I think it was Figure, the ipod/pad app. It's pretty fun, even it it's sort of repetitive, it's the nature of most long remixes though.

Overall, pretty cool. The single track is definitely my favorite, but the release offers a good variety of sounds.

New single, it's a heavy buildup dance tune, and it's actually the CM song that I mentioned back in May.

Yoru no Odoriko trailer

I still feel like I have only a vague idea of how this song sounds.

Oh, and the single will include a remix of Boku to Hana, which exists probably because they had to tone down the original since it was a drama theme song. This is the first time Sakanaction has personally made a remix from their singles.

They created a site to view the Full PV & promote the single.

also, Youtube link

I still can't get it to play, but it's a higher quality upload.

The Boku to Hana remix is pretty cool too, it's definitely more dancey and less somber.
