It's kind of old, but Tinie Tempah's "Disc-Overy" is amazing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YU1wvcmkgQ <--- One of my favorite songs.

QUEEN! Best of Vol 1, 2 and 3! :D

I can't have just ONE good album. So I'll just list all my favorite albums. I like everything you know. Image

English, do you speak it?

The White Stripes - Elephant

Enya - The Very Best Of Enya

Mika - Life in Cartoon Motion

Lenka - Lenka

The Pretty Reckless - The Pretty Reckless (Lead singer was a former child actress turned rebel without a cause. She sings pretty well, and I love the music so despite her turning into the anti-idol she's got a pretty good band.)

Eric Clapton - Complete Clapton (You can never have enough of Eric Clapton, never!) Image (Though I like her earlier work so I guess I usually just stick to disc one on this.)

Idols

Dorothy Little Happy - Demo Sayonara (Not a big album, mainly it's a mini album but I still like it!)

Passpo - TAKE☆OFF

Sakura Gakuin - Sakura Gakuin 2011 Nendo ~FRIENDS~

Priere - On Your Mark (Early 2000 Idol group, back when idol groups were about vocals. You know like Sweets? But not as cool as Sweets.)

Stuff that's Old and may be hard to find

Honda Minako - LIPS and M'Syndrome (I love anything by her, but these album had a lot of my favorite songs by her on them.)

Shizuka Kudo - Mysterious ( I love this album, it has Kindan no Telepathy on it.)

Okada Yukiko - YUKIKO OKADA * ALL SONGS REQUEST (It's a best of album, but it's got all of her best stuff on it I think.)

Hazel Nuts Chocolate - Bewitched! and Cute! (Both awesome albums.)

MURAMASA - twinkle (Japanese Ska band. Their first album, still my favorite.)

Other Stuff + Anime

Aural Vampire - Zoltank (Goth Lolita Electronic New Wave Japanese Goodness, I love them so much.)

ILA - YOKO KANNO produce Cyber Bicci

Triple H - HHH

Nana Mizuki - GREAT ACTIVITY (Out of all her albums, this is my favorite.)

Bubblegum Crisis Complete Vocal Collection (You need this album in your life if you love 80s/90s Anime Jpop music.)

This is a place where a signature goes. Enjoy some Airi instead.

Not sure if you're into electronica at all, but...

LIGHTS is one of the best imo and here's her newest album, Siberia: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzSxUWqyQTU

She's kinda already huge, but I still think Ellie Goulding is awesome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAnty-WH-94

Lights's album took a minute to grow on me, but Cactus in the Valley is my favorite off the album.

Challenge accepted!

I've made a list of 10 albums. (Wasn't aiming for that, it just ended up being 10.) I will post one at a time. You will listen to it from beginning to end, and give your judgement. If you've heard it before, or after you love the living shit out of it, I will post the next one. If you dislike an album, I post no more. Deal?

First up is an easy one: Shakira - Sale El Sol.

Let me know when to post the next one.

Anna Nalick - Broken Doll & Odds & Ends

Vanessa Carlton - Harmonium

Vanessa Carlton - Heroes & Thieves

@showraniy, yeah! I had both LIGHTS and Ellie Goulding on my list for last year's MM-BBS Music Awards. The Bassnectar remix of "Lights" is really good if you haven't heard it yet.

Sorting 2012 by play count, albums that I'll note are the last two Tonight Alive releases (punk rock) and Miryo's MIRYO aka JOHONEY (hiphop/pop). I mentioned the latter before, but I really enjoy going through both Consider This and What Are You So Scared Of?.

Mentioned it in the Listening thread a while ago, but Nobuchika Eri's "nobuchikaeri" is exceptionally good all the way through. It's very smooth and Shinichi Osawa's ligher, older jazz side shows through. This was in a weird transition for him as he incorporated more electronic elements and less house/samba.

Also notable are "Piano Sings Utada Hikaru" volumes 1 and 2 and Kenny James Trio's jazz covers of Utada Hikaru. These albums are easy-listening/jazz staples for me. They are the only music on my Kindle and have their own playlist on all of my devices.

Other worth mentioning:

Namie Amuro - PLAY (hip-pop, rock)

Namie Amuro - Past>Future (pop, hip-pop, rock)

GAM - 1st -Amai Yuuwaku- (pop)

Shinichi Osawa - The One (electro-pop)

Shinichi Osawa - SO2 (electro)

Perfume - JPN (electro-/picopico-pop)

any of Iida Kaori's solo albums (jazz/light pop)

ravex - ravex (electro-pop)

and of course, MY ALBUM, y'all (awesome/abstract electro)

I'll third Ellie Goulding's Bright Lights, I love that album; I listened to it all last summer! I'll also second MIKA's Life in Cartoon Motion.

To actually answer the topic: fun.'s Some Nights. You may have heard "We Are Young", since it's topped the charts in some parts of the world. My favorites off the album are "Some Nights", "Why Am I the One", and "Carry On" (which was amazing live). It Gets Better is the only song I didn't like immediately but - like most songs I listen to - it grew on me somewhat.

Some others:

Ingrid Michaelson - Everybody

Jack's Mannequin - Everything in Transit

Mat Kearney - Young Love

Carolina Liar - Coming to Terms

supercell - Today is a Beautiful Day (only J-pop one I could think of; I don't listen to J-pop albums very often...)

Five for Fighting - Slice

Five for Fighting - Two Lights

These recommendations are now seconded. Or maybe fourthed. Because they are good. The best EG song is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlDo0zzFJ3k.

Wow, didn't expect this! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/wub.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Old is okay because old means I can get it used for cheap! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ohyeah.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D/' />

First up is easy because I already own it. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... smooch.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='=3=' /> And yes, I did like it.

And this is how I just spent ~$60 on cds. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Thank you guys, will post impressions once my shipments get in. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/wub.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> For those that posted multiple albums, I grabbed 1 or 2 from the list at random to start otherwise I would've just spent a lot more money on cds haha. The asian stuff is d/l, will post impressions as they finish and I listen. (lol it's cuz I know the asian RIAA won't come after me)

I figured you'd have Sale El Sol. But I haven't seen you talk about it, so I included it just in case.

2. MAA - Bubbleman Engine

Have at it! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ek3run.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':eekrun:' />

Marina & The Diamonds - Electra Heart. WOW. It's like Annie Lennox and La Roux had some perfect angel child and Mark Ronson was the sperm donor or something. I LOVE HER. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/wub.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
