Otome Sensou doesn't make sense if you think about it logically. Why would they release a theme song one year ahead? Especially since anime theme songs are tied to singles of artists? I msg'd Miss Dream via tumblr, asking her if she could send me the source for all the rumors on the front page. She said they were from her transcription notes watching the nico nico event and (pretty defensively) said she worked as a translator for a fortune 500 company etc and that she's a reliable source blah blah. Well, I rewatched the show and her notes are straight up wrong. I messaged her back and didn't hear anything since.



Well, when Miss Dream releases her subtitled version of the press conference, I'll be interested to see her update.



I hate speculation and rumors - I just wanted to find facts about the new show because I'm as excited as everyone else. Way to shit on the fun, Miss Huge internet ego.

I've decided that I need to do at least 5000 things to celebrate the new series/anniversary.



Nearly 10 years ago when I was 16, a friend of mine who is an amazing seamstress made me a pair of pleather shorts for a Sailor Star Healer costume. Sadly do to a lot of difficulties making the bra portion ( <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... R#>/8o.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='8o' /> ) I never finished it for the con I was going to and then just never finished it... ever. I've decided that for 2013 I need to do a lot of sit ups and make that costume finally happen. Maybe 3 days at Otakon with 3 different Moon costumes. Ridiculous ambition, I have it.



But on a slightly more practical note I think it'd be fun to go back and watch the entire series. I'm already 2/3 of the way through re-reading the manga, which has been fun because I completely forgot about some of the differences. Maybe I'll re-watch the musicals too. There are a few I've never seen :( When the new series does finally come out we should have a viewing party. Or an after party, since everyone is in different time zones and syncing up video is hard anyway.

When I started working on my dissertation a few months ago, I got really depressed (for various reasons) and started rewatching the series. Then I started a Sailor Moon blog to kind of document it and it turned into a shopping blog more or less. It was really good for my psychological well being <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' /> So having revisited my childhood obsession recently, this news makes me extra happy.



In honor of the 20th year anniversary, I will....do nothing extra except check out the collector item manga that will go on sale in Japan this fall. But, I probably can't afford them!

I deleted the dramaz because in the end, I just don't care and my tumblr is going to be drama free and just full of shiny things to buy. All I wanted to do was clarify why people were claiming the new anime would be "based on the manga and aimed at older fans" (how dare I?!?!?!). Anyway, angry SM fans are the most pitiful things on the internet. It is like My Little Pony fans having drunk fist fights or knifing someone over the Care Bears.

Well I think if Naoko goes by what her husband did with HunterXHunter, we can see a Sailormoon that is more in keeping with the manga. The problem with the anime was that it was being created at the same time as the manga so it was just a big hot mess. I hope I like Mamoru more in this. He was one anime character that to this day I despise. I love his musical and live action version, but his anime version annoyed the heck out of me.

So true. His anime version has to be the most annoying character of all time. I do have to give the series props though, even though he "rescued" Sailor Moon a lot in the beginning, eventually he turned out to be weak and pointless and we had a woman kicking ass instead of needing a man to rescue her.



I'm trying not to expect anything in particular and just be happy about more Moon. I suspect that we might not get more than the first arc, since that's what happened with the live action series. I also wonder if we'll get a bunch of weird twists like the live action had - I was under the impression Naoko was fairly involved in that, but maybe I'm remembering wrong? 2003 was many moons ago (hur hur).



The big advantage this series has is the fact it's falling on the 20th anniversary and Moon has been fairly dead as a franchise (as in no musicals, no tv series, nothing new happening). I'm hoping the excitement factor gives them enough momentum to do multiple series. If they make it to the Sailor Stars arc they'll have to cast a new VO for Star Fighter though :(

Naoko wrote a lot of the music for PGSM, but I don't know if she helped write the episodes or anything. She might have.



That would be cool if most of the old VAs came back.

Would be nice to see the old VAs, but you probably wont get them since a lot of them have retired or have fallen off the face of the earth. I think a lot of the Sailors will have new VAs, probably to get the younger generation of otaku interested. Especially if they intend for them to use them in the same way the used the older VAs (singing, promoting). I'd love to see the old VAs make guest appearances or given other characters that may be related in some way to the Sailors.

I hope Mamoru will be better in this adaption too. I really like him in the musicals (I mean, I liked Kenji and Yuu too). But, I love the mysterious side of him in the manga and his special abilities. He had a lot of character development in the manga that I enjoyed but was never shown in the anime. I was really disappointed with the SuperS anime because it was suppose to be about him like in the manga (well, Chibiusa was important in the SuperS manga too but NOT that important).

I know what you mean, yuzuriha! I wanted to be a scout so much. My neighbor and I used to make up new sailor scouts. I even went through and drew a scout for each moon of Jupiter so Sailor Jupiter could have her own legion.
