The 2nd round has finished and it's off to round 3!



This is usually around the time we start getting footage and notes from Tsunku. (I know he's commented a little so far on Twitter, but we didn't have a thread open to talk about it.)



Try not to get super over the top with the egg predictions again until they actually pop up as contenders. (I'm looking at you Rob!)

As usual, this has been Tsunku using a lot of words that don't actually tell us anything. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/cool.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> But since it was short I went ahead and translated it.





That album song is amazing. The dance is pretty simple for newbies to learn, but that's fine. I'd rather they focus on vocals than dance skills this time around.

Haruka is the best voice MM has had since 6:th gen imo. Linlin don't count because her much praised Aozora intro made me want to vomit.

I'm still on the good ship lollipop that he's training Zukki, Haruka, Mizuki and Masaki to become all around singers for the future once Reina leaves for good. I'm still on the fence about Erina and Ayumi. They perform well but are very hit and miss in other areas.



Zukki can be a good singer, she's just not trained well enough to handle any of her notes 100% of the time and she ends up cracking on DVD day so now everyone thinks she sucks.



Haruka, she's going to have her Hitomi moment one of these days. I know she will!



I think it's obvious Tsunku's trying to find a new front pre-packaged girl like Riho. But not an Egg. I mean, if he wants one, he'll take an egg also. But that's not the only thing he's looking for. You put in an egg and you're only likely to gain her pre-existing fans and perhaps some new ones. You get in a new girl and you have the chance of getting in new fans that aren't already H!P fans. It's a gamble, but that's how UFA rolls.

Vocally, they are pretty badly off right now. They are in need of a really strong singer. Here's how I feel about all the girls' singing:



Mizuki is good. Mostly she’s okay, and she should be better, but she has moments where she’s really good, so I think she’ll turn out fine. But I thought it was interesting that Tsunku says he’s looking for someone with good breath control and rhythm, two things that Mizuki struggles with.



Ayumi is bad. Not as bad as Eripon and Sayumi, but still pretty bad. I just wish I could fuse her and Riho together. Riho mostly hits the right notes and has mastered certain skills, but her voice is just so mediocre. Ayumi’s voice is a lot stronger and she can hit high notes a little more easily, but she's technically terrible.



Right now, I don’t really think Kanon is that good. A lot of time she just sounds like a child shouting. She has improved a lot, though, and there are moments where she sounds almost great, but she's pretty inconsistent. I still think she has the potential to be truly great (even the best of the bunch) because of the power and range of her voice. But people don’t always live up to their potential. Also, because of her being bigger than the other girls (NOT saying she’s fat or that it’s fair) they aren’t very likely to push her.



Masaki is decent. She hits the right notes most of the time, but her voice reminds me of Riho’s - kind of weak and limited. I have a feeling that if she was pushed like Riho, she might end up like her.



Haruka is on track to be great. She's only 12 and is already a lot better than a lot of current and former MM members and most of current H!P. But she still has a few things she needs to work on.



IMO, Karin is already one of the best singers in H!P right now. I would call her great (by H!P standards). She's not perfect or as good as Ai or anything crazy like that, but she doesn't really have any major flaws that I have heard. I think MM does need her or someone like her. Or they just need to use Mizuki and Haruka (and sort of Kanon) more and Riho less, so I don't feel so desperate. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nfused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Or maybe there's just too many bad singers. I don't know. I'm hungry.

The way I see either she doesn't get in, and her fans continue to bitch about it. Or she does and UFA mostly likely shoves her down everyone's throat, which is a good way to make people sick of someone.

They only come in once a week and they're put into different class levels for singing and dancing. They're not all getting the exact same training.

That reminds me. Almost all the egg events in 2011 were cancelled because of the earthquake, which means Haruka had even less training and experience during her short time in eggs that she would've had (the intensive training before events that they mentioned), which makes her even more awesome. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /dance.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':dance:' />

I think LinLin was very hit and miss. She sounded good in slow songs and in fast paced/cutesy songs, she killed me. Like she was trying to hard to be cute. Her Aozora intro just showed everyone she had potential though, but they never put her to use that much, so she just stayed as she was. Same with JunJun and Aika. I feel like 8th gen would have been alright if they weren't shafted so much. They were good dancers though. :D
