New H!P unit. Members are Miyamoto Karin, Kanazawa Tomoko, Miyazaki Yuka, Takagi Sayuki, Otsuka Aina, Uemura Akari. Group will be indie at first, will work towards major debut. First of several units that will be announced.

I'm really excited because of Karin, Sayuki, and Aina. But I'm sad because I wanted them in a group with Rie.

I can totally see Karin, Aina, and Tomoko being leads but Sayubee, Aarin, and Yuka are kind of up in the air.

This probably will never happen, but maybe we can get a group with rotating members. You know, like Berryz was supposed to rotate through all the H!PK.*

Yay for them finally doing something with the eggs! A lot of them have been around forever. I'm sad not to see Nanami in this list, but they did say more announcements were to come. Her and Karin are the only two I actually know by name/face. Can someone explain who everyone else is (pics or links to songs)? I guess I know Aina too from the 9th gen auditions, but I don't remember her voice.

Sayuki is 15 (she'll be 16 in April) and she's been around since late 09. She's a good singer, but I don't have any really good examples to show you because all we have are recordings. She's done some plays and stuff and she was in the Reborn musical with Morning Musume.



Akari is 14 and she joined last spring. She isn't in any of the footage that I know of, but she apparently auditioned for 10th gen, and then again later to be a trainee. Don't know much about her voice.



Tomoko is 17, and she literally JUST joined back in December. She was a finalist in some unrelated audition and I guess they offered her a chance to join the Kenshuushei.



Yuka is 18, was a finalist in the S/mileage auditions, and then did some other UFP audition. She's also in Green Fields. She's got one line at 3:25.



I'll see if I can find some recordings that might give you an idea of what they sound like. Karin, Sayuki and Aina (who I thought was the best singer in the 9th gen audition) are obviously the vocals and the other three seem more like backup to me.

This really makes me worried about Berryz, though! They were how I learned about H!P! And if more groups are coming... Oh, man. I don't know if I could handle it if C-ute and Berryz left.

C-ute is blowing up right now and gaining tons of popularity, so they're not going anywhere. Berryz may be a casualty of these new groups though...

Great news about the new unit. This, along with Momusu's #1 single, has made this a great year for H!P already.



Only issue for me is whether UFP has the resources to promote these six girls. Somehow they discovered a lot of $$ to promote Momusu again, so hopefully the same will happen here.

Other than sending them to more venues to promote, I don't really think they're spending a whole lot more money on Morning Musume. PV, outfits, ect. have not really seen a surge in quality.

I don't know that a group has to go just because a new one is coming along. No one left to make way for S/mileage. But at the same time I guess I wouldn't be surprised if a group left. I wonder how they would even handle that - can you graduate a whole group to OG land and still keep them active? That never really worked out for Ongaku Gatas, but Berryz and C-ute have a much longer, more active history.

And Tomoko is going to be 18 this year! Maybe they had her and Yuka join to add a little age to the group, although I don't know what would mean for the groups longevity if they end up major debuting and want to keep a stable lineup.



I think that it's just been about 4 years since S/mileage was formed and they're ready for fresh blood. So they're going to make this group and the others to see which one they'd like to work with full time.

The age thing.... it's funny some of these girls are older than Hagiwara Mai... which just goes to show how long she's been around for!



I think this group is the end of Berryz, it won't happen instantly but I think the first steps are being taken, but... I could be wrong. If they are making money there isn't really any reason to end the group.
