I'm so upset by this. LucasArts put out so many amazing games over the years and I don't understand why this is happening.

Disney is pissing me off to no end. I really thought them getting Star Wars was going to be a good thing, but since they've got involved they've done this, erased the entire canon of the nearly 30 years of EU works, and cancelled the Clone Wars.

I'm just going to repost what I already wrote in the Spam thread about this. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... stling.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' />

It also explains why this is happening.

Disney just closed LucasArts, developer of several adventure classics such as Monkey Island and action games like the Jedi Knight series, and fired the ~150 employees.

At first I was really angry about this, but then I realized they haven't really made that many great games ever since Jedi Knight 3, which was released in 2003. Or barely any games at all, for that matter...

They mostly just licensed and helped a little bit here and there, while others were developing the games, e.g. Kotor 1/2, Battlefront 1/2 etc.

The only thing they did in the past ten years that's worth noting were The Force Unleashed 1&2, which arguably didn't live up to the hype and high standard people were excepting from them, and the two really well done Monkey Island remakes.

In fact, I even thought to myself over the past years several times that they've become so damn lazy, mostly only living off of licensing.

Eitherway, I think I hope they regroup themselves in a smaller studio of maybe 20~30 people and start on smaller projects again, especially seeing how the adventure genre recently boomed.

This could also mean a Kotor 3 by Obsidian sometime.
