Last two singles were 231k and 189k. Looks like the last time they got about 150k the first day they ended with 187k.


50k + whatever Kanjani sell the rest of the week seems like too tall an order for MM right now.

At least they were about 30k above EXILE, but they're about 50k under Kanjani8... And unless they do some weird last minute promotion, which obviously they won't, it seems this one will stay at #2. Which isn't bad, but like I said... The #1 is gone booo. The best promotion they've done for this single seems like their Youtube videos they uploaded over the best few days... Although even that promotes the girls sans Sayumi more than the song.

Someone uploaded the DVD version of the TIKI BUN MV. There's a longer intro and outro but other than that it's still mostly the same.

I was wondering this same thing. I hope it's true, but I'm realistic enough to realize that it might just be the end of another really good run for Tsunku.I think this being Sayumi's final single is what carried it over the 100K line, tbh. TIKI BUN is the first single A-side of the EDM era that I just don't care for. Don't hate it, but don't like it. "Shabadabadoo" is cute, and it's an appropriate B-side in the context of Sayu's graduation. "Mikaeri Bijin" is a great song, but it feels more like an album track to me -- and Tsunku didn't write it. Still, it's a bit of hope to hold onto for the first MM single post-Sayumi.

It was six months from Toki/Sora until Tiki Bun.... I'm guessing they'll want to add 12ki to the next single but that better not keep it from now coming out until next Jan/Feb.

Down to five today. 3 was Sekai no Owari with 20,002. 2 was J Soul Brothers with 24,954. Kanjani8 sold 61, 474.

Since a different person wrote Mikaeri Bijin, maybe it's not allowed to be put up.  I don't know why they wouldn't put up a partial tracklist though.

Again with the tears streaming down my face. Watching those girls cry I so painful especially because you know their tears are real. Nary a and Haruka's crying probably hit me the hardest because their faces were so sad and I just wanted to reach through my screen and hug them.

This is truly a wonderful song and they actually spent money on making a very good and special music video.

Oricon reports that they ranked #2 with 135k. Not bad, but I expected it to do better numbers-wise.

It has sold better than I expected, and I suspect that Sayumi's graduation has motivated the super-wotas to go HAM to the point of getting the numbers as high as they are. There just isn't much here for the casual fan beyond an average pop song done in their now-expected EDM style. As much as I love "Mikaeri Bijin," it's essentially a group enka song aimed at the most dedicated fans. "Shabadabadoo" is a novelty song aimed at the exact same audience. The anchor, "TIKI BUN," is the song that needed to appeal to the masses outside of the MM fandom, and it's just kinda whatever.

Cameraman is definitely a Sayu fan, haha.  Sad that Sakura cut her hair - I definitely prefer it longer, makes her features look softer.
 
I kinda of feel like this single wasn't as aggressively promoted as most of their recent singles.  I guess they expected the fans to go ham because of Sayumi, but it wasn't enough when up against a JE group.

They also aren't performing Mikaeri Bijin (the best song) or promoting that side at all until Sayu leaves and at that point its kind of not worth it.

MB wouldn't have increased sales. It's not at all in line with the image they're trying to promote to casual fans. Both the other a-sides are for Sayumi fans.


I guess it depends on what you all consider aggressive promotion. They did the same for this single that they do for all the others.

Yeah, promoting "Mikaeri Bijin" would've been a waste of money. It's a great song, but it neither fits their current image nor current pop radio conventions. The moment they decided to make this single a tribute to Sayumi they really narrowed their chances of continuing the streak, because they could only go as far as TIKI BUN would take them.

I guess it could be just me - admittedly, I don't keep up with their promotional activities that much.  But for some reason I thought I remembered them being on TV more for the two previous singles.
