They got #4 on Oricon, #3 got 34k

Daily with #11, #3 on the weekly chart currently. Looks like sales so far is 45,000? (if I'm reading correctly.)
 
Pretty impressive. Chart rating-wise, it's the highest charting single from Country Musume so far... Even if it drops to 4, it's still tied with the highest ranking singles. Sales numbers-wise, it's the highest selling single since Koibito wa Kokoro no Ouendan, which was in 2001( 63,000 first week sales.)
 
Also, comparing it to other groups, it's sold better than any Juice=Juice single. Its first week sales even beat Juice=Juice's singles' total sales on all but one single. Its first week sales also beat any S/mileage first week sales and total sales. (Last I heard Taiki Banse/Otome was at 43,000+, so idk)

Hajimete no Happy Birthday! had 89,000 first week. And it had 142,340 overall. That was their highest selling single. It also ranked at #4 first week but dropped to #21 the second. Though this is a tough week for the group with C-ute and two 48 groups releasing so they may also get a similar drop.

Yup, that was right before Koibito, though, so it's still going to be the best-selling single since Koibito.   Hajimete is hard to compete with in sales.... 142,000 is a biiiig number

Other two editions didn't rank, so sales were below 5,166. Soundscan doesn't count handshakes.

Is this supposed to be the "true" sales not influenced by handshakes ooorr?? Cause what if you bought a CD and it just came with the handshake ticket?

It includes regular venues (so no handshakes and in the 48s case no theater editions ) so that would count. But most handshakes are before a single comes out rather than being packaged with the single.


It basically cuts the fat compared to Oricon but bulk buying at a normal store will still make Soundscan. Although oricon getting stricter too so I wonder if one day they'll stop counting handshake sales.
