Kanon was always the cutest in the game, but the 2ch translations made me laugh.

Iirc, she basically gave herself this nickname because she wanted a new one, and then began referring to herself as "Maro" so much and tried to unconsciously force everyone to call her that.

I'm surprised Kanon has lasted this long. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but about a year ago, she all of the sudden started wearing make-up. I don't know if it had to do with just her trying to appear more mature/her appearance issues, but my first thought was that she ended up getting a boyfriend, but nothing ever popped up regarding that....

Good grief, this woman has absolutely no self esteem. That is the saddest possible way to live IMO, burdened by self hatred all the time. I hope she develops a much healthier body image when she steps away from the spotlight and goes back to a normal life.

Well, I don't really think she actually has no self esteem. I think she just loves the 'victim' role too much and to be told that she is pretty, cute and etc.
I don't think a person with such complexes would have this amount of selfies and much more, showing to the world how 'ugly' she is.
I think most of those pictures scream "Tell me what I already know come ooooooooooon"

You can still think you're cute sometimes/take lots of selfies and have low self esteem. Plus I'm sure the management encourages them to post selfies.

And considering how much time some girls put into these selfies, if anything it's just another manifestation of her being overly obsessed with how she looks. She's also talked a bit about how she thinks that some of her fans moved to having Kenshuusei as their number ones because they only liked Kanon when she was a little girl. I think she also thinks of herself as old as far as being an idol is concerned. Plus it's not secret she's obsessed with dieting. No one who is concerned about their looks as much as she is is making the kind of comments she does JUST for attention.

This was kind of a downer to find out about - partially because it's always sad to see girls I watched debut graduate (especially ones that are around my age - makes me feel old! Only in idol years LOL) but also because I really enjoyed how "real" Kanon's personality was.  I can see why people could be annoyed by her self esteem issues or whining on her blog posts about her looks and popularity, but something about that always made her feel really relatable to me.  A lot of my friends are like that so she always felt like someone I could actually meet.  The number of "Oh god, I'm so ugly, why won't anyone go out with me" posts I scroll by on facebook from people I went to high school with is amaaazing.  Big load of Maro types.

I just received another S/mileage concert from CDJapan and watched it. It's from December ([font=Times New Roman, serif;font-size:12pt]Live Tour 2014 Aki - Full Charge - Final In O-Eas[/font][font=Times New Roman, serif;font-size:12pt]t [/font]) and they're in a much smaller venue than the previous concert (which was in Budokan). It's much more streamlined and is something of a "Greatest Hits" show, but the girls are all in fine form and give it their best. I scrutinized Ms. Fukuda with extra care because of some of the comments lobbed at her here and I noticed her usual smoothness and confidence. I saw "effortless," not "zero effort."

Anyway, I don't even have time to translate my own girls right now but this basically says when she graduates she wants to study lyric writing and work towards her second debut as a lyricist after graduation.
