It seemed weird without Manakan there... Especially since she was my favorite. Well I'm sure this will be a cute single nonetheless, but I wonder if they'll add a 3rd generation next year.

Blindly throwing darts here, but please tell me that "Namida no Request" is a cover song by the Checkers (it's their 2nd single).  It matches their image of doing covers of adolescent retro-pop.

I saw a Japanese fan in one of the FB groups I'm in say it is and CG is his favorite group and he's so excited for them to cover a song he used to do at karaoke all the time.

Yup, on this week's H!S they said it was a cover of that song~  :)

I like it but I doubt most of the members' ability to pull this off live because the voices all actually sound pretty strong lol. It's also super retro sounding, if you told me Tsunku did it I'd believe you.

According to the same Hello!Ste announcement, Nakajima Takui did lyrics & composition for Doo Datte Ii No.
 
TBH..... I'm a bit disappointed. XD  There's nothing bad about this song, and the girls sound awesome, but Takui is no Aku Yuu.

I didn't watch that video. I don't mean literally seen, just that they're so unoriginal and similar to their other stuff that it's a mistake.

It's not like they're particularly ugly (on an H!P scale, anyway) but they're basically a more boring, less flattering version of the Boogie outfits.

I like the song a lot. The performance was a little shouty though.

I don't care how tacky the outfits for Namida no Request are--I love 'em! I think it's cute how they worked in the checkered pattern for The Checkers. Also the girls are generally styled (hair and make-up) really well in those pictures, too. I'm pretty excited for the cover... Hoping they don't speed it up too much or make it *too* peppy. I think having a more begging-like song will be a good mix for them.
 
Also, while not spectacular, they're all good covers. No bad photoshops or uncreative covers is a success for me lol.

Yeah, it is really nice. Country Girls might be bad singers but they are really entertaining to watch.

So much better than Doo Datte, although the Gold Standard for H!P retro recordings is still Shining Itoshiki Anata. This is pretty much everything I'd hoped it would be, though.

For some reason it all just felt really fake to me. The sax, the 3 singing backup, the opening line, etc. Only the three with lines didn't feel fake.
