I wonder if the 4 acapella videos are going to be the ones from the youtube channel.

Yeah but 8 singles in 5 years. If this was the old H!P they’d have at least 15.

Yeah, S/mileage made it to 8 in less than two years. I think the importance of physical singles is starting to fizzle out even for idols. Tsubaki were announced around the same time and only have 6. Juice=Juice have only released 4 singles the last 3 years. The lackluster release schedule is probably one reason most of the groups have had such high sales lately. Fans have more money because there’s nothing to buy.

Re: [2020.03.04] Kobushi Factory - Seishun no Hana / Start Line
Fair. I remember times when groups released really closely to each other and fans were very unhappy about that.
[spoilerbox]
In fact, this was the release schedule of 2013:
January 23: Help me!! - Morning Musume
February 6: Kono Machi - ℃-ute
March 13: Asian Celebration - Berryz Koubou
March 20: Tabidachi no Haru ga Kita - S/mileage
April 3: Crazy Kanzen na Otona - ℃-ute
April 17: Brainstorming / Kimi Sae Ireba Nani mo Iranai - Morning Musume
June 19: Golden Chinatown / Sayonara Usotsuki no Watashi - Berryz Koubou
July 3: Atarashii Watashi ni Nare! / Yattaruchan - S/mileage
July 10: Kanashiki Amefuri / Adam to Eve no Dilemma - ℃-ute
August 28: Wagamama Ki no Mama Ai no Joke / Ai no Gundan - Morning Musume
September 11: Romance no Tochuu / Watashi ga Iu Mae ni Dakishimenakya ne (MEMORIAL EDIT) / Samidare Bijo ga Samidareru (MEMORIAL EDIT) - Juice=Juice (Major Debut)
October 2: Motto Zutto Issho ni Itakatta / ROCK Erotic - Berryz Koubou
November 6: Tokai no Hitorigurashi / Aitte Motto Zanshin - ℃-ute
December 4: Ijiwaru Shinai de Dakishimete yo / Hajimete wo Keiken-chuu - Juice=Juice
December 18: Ee ka!? / "Ii Yatsu" - S/mileage
(I took out the Satoyama units, Kenshuusei and Juice indie singles.)
MM 1st - °C-ute 1st: 2 weeks
Berryz 1st - S/mileage 1st: 1 week
S/mileage 1st - °C-ute 2nd: 2 weeks
°C-ute 2nd - MM 2nd: 2 weeks
Berryz 2nd - S/mileage 2nd: 2 weeks
S/mileage 2nd - °C-ute 3rd: 1 week
MM 3rd - Juice 1st: 2 weeks
Juice 2nd - S/mileage 3rd: 2 weeks
S/mileage was really sandwiched that year. Not gonna lie, I'd love to have more than 2 singles of every group again. But nowadays more fans seem to support all the groups (compared to in the 2000s when Melon Kinenbi was pretty much left alone) so it would mean a lot of financial pressure to them. But please, let's at least go back to at least 2 singles per year.
[/spoilerbox]
But what's popular nowadays? TV is out of vogue / hard to get. Is it festivals?

Re: [2020.03.04] Kobushi Factory - Seishun no Hana / Start Line
Isn’t TV still fairly popular in Japan? For idols, nothing is really in vogue because as a whole the industry is back out of vogue with a few exceptions lol. I’m guessing probably streaming and stuff like that.
If it weren’t for concerts though I think most of the H!P girls wouldn’t really have anything to do, especially the ones who aren’t in school anymore.

Well in a stunning turn of events, they're all winners.
Re: [2020.03.04] Kobushi Factory - Seishun no Hana / Start Line
these covers are really nice lol
Re: [2020.03.04] Kobushi Factory - Seishun no Hana / Start Line
I'm late to this, but I like both limited covers more than the regulars, and Limited B the most.
As for the songs, "Seishun no Hana" is a fucking winner, and this mid-tempo nostalgic style is one they are really great at. "Start Line," on the other hand, is more off-the-rack idol-rock that I don't think has ever suited them particularly well, and for some reason everyone at Up Front seems to think is their wheel-house.

While I don't see myself going and purposely listening to this song, I think it's a great wrap-up song for Kobushi, and I loved the visual callbacks to Kobushi no Hana and Shalala Hazu sa (or wtfever it's called) in the MV :)

Re: [2020.03.04] Kobushi Factory - Seishun no Hana / Start Line
I really love everything about this. It encapsulates a style of idol-pop that H!P has done so much better than anyone else for so long, starting with Tsunku, and now with Hoshibe Sho. The melody and chord progression is beautiful, and the call-backs to "Koboshi no Hana" and "Shalala!" are perfect. This song and "Haru Urara" are the two best things KF did after their Year of Disaster by far, and it's kind of frustrating to think about how hard UF pushed to make them an idol-rock group when they so obviously excelled at more down-tempo melodic pop.

And now the PV for Start Line has been released. I like how it is tied to the video for Seishun no Hana.

Re: [2020.03.04] Kobushi Factory - Seishun no Hana / Start Line
Hmm... yes, but I think adding live footage to an MV is lazy. Also, those "past MVs in the background" is a bit lame.
Seishun no Hana is definitely the star here.

Re: [2020.03.04] Kobushi Factory - Seishun no Hana / Start Line
Most of Kobushi's events have been cancelled due to the virus, and it hit the group hard.
1st day at Oricon #7, 2nd day at #17.
#3 on day 1 sold 33k copies, #3 on day 2 sold 4.5k copies. Which would mean Kobushi definitely sold less than 37.5k copies. Ouch.
To be fair, their previous singles didn't do well either...
Oh no Ounou / Haru Urara: 30k
Kitto Watashi wa / Naseba Naru: 26k
Kore Kara da! / Ashita Tenki ni nare: 35k
Shalala! Yareru Hazu sa / Ee ja nai ka Ninja nai ka: 23k
Samba! Kobushi Janeiro / Bacchikoi Seishun! / Ora wa Ninkimono: 45k
Sakura Night Fever / Chotto Guchoku ni! Chototsumoushin / Osu! Kobushi Tamashii: 41k
Dosukoi! Kenkyo ni Daitan / Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san no Uta / Nen ni wa Nen (Nen'iri Ver.): 48k
It's sick how quickly they crashed.

Well and if you think about it, fans probably don’t feel the need to go hard on a single when the group is going away. Country Girls didn’t not see any sort of notable final numbers either.

While both groups are very different in their approach, they do seem somewhat similar: Quick rise to fame, some good and well promoted singles, losses of important (more or less) members and then fall into oblivion.

Yeah, but that’s the real selling power of most idol groups. No one in H!P is selling well because they’re really strong and popular groups.

Re: [2020.03.04] Kobushi Factory - Seishun no Hana / Start Line
I mean that's true, but even considering this the results are bad. I took a quick look at the other sales and the last time a main group sold that little (for a single) was in the mid-2000s - early Berryz Koubou. Or Mano Erina. Even S/mileage sold more.
