Personal opinion, but Colorful Era went so hard on the singles that the albums suffered.

But this was also the time when they started to beef up the singles too so the albums were getting a lot of scraps. Weird times.

This one is spotty, for sure, but it has at least one bona fide classic in "Be Alive" -- btw, who didn't vote for this? Show yourself! -- and a great Berryz Koubou rip-off in "Waratte! YOU." The pickings get slim after that, although I really like Reina's and Sayu's solo tracks.

The real fun starts next week, for me, anyway.

14th Album is Up.

I.... don't remember this album at all. I'm sure I'll remember it after I listen to it.

It's the last MM album I bought and I didn't like it lol. Except for the Riho-Sakura-duet.

This is their transitional album from Colorful Era to Fukumura Era, and I really like it. I seem to remember being the only one here who was into it when it was released, too, lol. If you don't like 15 or 16, you probably won't like 14, because in the same way that "Renai Hunter" foreshadowed what MM singles would sound like moving forward, 14 serves the same function for MM albums. "Asu wo Tsukuru no wa Kimi" has aged really well since its release.

I'm a little surprised to see the Riho/Sakura track getting so much love (although I'd have voted for it if I had a 4th vote) because I also remember people thinking that their voices clashed too much.

15th Album is Up. We're almost at the finish line for albums. Next up will be the covers and remixes. It should be a quick one. (Hopefully)

Where as the last album was forgettable to me. This one is full of such great songs I personally like.
Hard round for me at least. Might be easier for others.

This is one of my favorites, and getting it down to three songs was a PITA. All of the songs that currently have votes were considered, but the final battle between Wakacchanai and Narcissus took a while. 16 won't be any easier.

Last Album Up for Voting!

I put a preview up of the future voting for covers and remixes to give you a heads up on future voting if you're so inclined to listen to any of the remixes or covers.

16 is such a great album, but this was pretty easy. 15/16 is right up there with 4/5 for MM's best consecutive two album run for me, and 14-16 is right there with 3-5. Can they match the four album run of 2-5? Second Morning is great, but Tsunku's on a pretty good role atm, so maybe!

We're starting the next phase this week. I call this the hail mary phase because there's a lot of songs in this list I'm sure some of you may have never knew existed, but this is a full Morning Musume song battle so no matter how rare. Good, bad or ugly. If it got released officially, it's got to count.


There are so many FAN mixes I wish I could just throw up, but only the official will count.

A lot of them are. A lot of the early ones are from released singles, but they also stuck them in that early morning best of box too. And others were sprinkled around which is why I kept finding them in strange places.

I remember listening to the Dorimusu album a lot back then, but their covers weren't exactly great. Like of course they were good but I still prefered the originals.
