What are you playing?

Re: What are you playing?
I started playing Minecraft again since 1.8 came out a few days ago.
I even bought it.
Man, what a mistake, now I've spent countless hours just wandering around to find some of the new stuff and expanding my home. This game has been eating my life away for the past two weeks...
Click on this link if you want to see my enormous map (1 pixel = 1 block):
http://imageshack.us/f/98/strongholdsmap.jpg/
I'm not going to upload the isometric one though, since that one is a whooping 15MB as a compressed JPG (10400x4727). But it is beautiful to look at.

Re: What are you playing?
Let's see...
Finished Dead Island and it was not bad. Far longer than it needed to be.
Finished God of War 1-3. I'm glad I played games like Castlevania:Lords of Shadow before touching this series, since it let me enjoy them rather than see what shameless ripoffs they were.
Finished Gears of War 3. More of the same, but a nice conclusion to the series. Totally disappointed that Marcus and Dom didn't finally bang though.
And minutes ago I finished Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Much like everyone else out there, I loved it except for the lame boss fights and the hippy-ass endings.
Still on the pile: Vanquish, Alpha Protocol, and No More Heroes- Heroes Paradise.

I wouldn't say all four endings are hippy endings.

Not so much with regards to what's said in them, but the stock footage that runs behind all the endings.

Re: What are you playing?
Vanquish is freaking awesome!
I saw it on several different "favorite games of 2010" lists but never had a chance to pick it up until I saw it on Amazon for 12 bucks last week. It's like Sega told Shinji Mikami to make a crazy ass Japanese Gears of War. So you get a 3rd person shooter with cover mechanics, but instead of giant plodding taciturn brutes, you've got a smartass Han Solo type in power armor that can boost up to 100 mph and go into slo-mo mode at will fighting evil Russian robots on a space station that microwaves San Francisco.

I briefly played the demo of Vanquish when it came out and didn't like it. Based on that post, I wonder if I didn't give it a fair chance. If I see it anywhere for 12 bucks, I might try it.

Paper Mario 64... againnnn. I saw my one friend was replaying it, soooo I took it out again. XD I'm also currently at a friends' house where we're all playing Just Dance 2. It made me badly want Japan's. Renai Revolution 21? HEAVY ROTATION? YES. PLEEZ. <3 But I couldn't play it unless I got a Japanese Wii soo. XD *out of luck*

I'll give it a go whenever I can be bothered, but if it's anything like Arkham Asylum (and I assume it is a lot), then it won't last longer than 15 minutes on my PC. Not my kind of a game despite everyone wetting their pants about it, and the main character alone doesn't do it for me.

Yeah, we seem to be fairly alone in the universe in this sentiment. I don't really care for the style of game.

Re: What are you playing?
If you're not a Batman fan, then the entirety of the story and characters would be lost on you, but as a fan it's neat perfect. Beyond that, I just love the fighting mechanics of the game, like how it is almost rhythmic in its execution. Traversing the city with ziplines is also great fun.
It's not my game of the year, but it's by far the best licensed game I've played in years.

Ah, fair enough. Thanks to my childhood being deprived of western comics, Batman to me essentially means Batman from the 1989 movie (and to a lesser degree from the sequel). Although I enjoyed it as any kid would, I had and still have almost no idea about the overall storyline and characters other than those in Burton's movies. Nolan's movies are trying to fix that and are doing it in a great style, but that's a typical example of too little, too late.

Re: What are you playing?
Bought Roller Coaster Tycoon 1+2 on GOG last week. They were half off. Playing through RTC1 and I'm actually finding the scenarios to be easy. Finished 6 or 7 already.
I've been looking at OnLive and I'm still very skeptical. Y'know, because of the tachyons. Anyway, they are/were doing a promotion where all new users get their first FullPlay pass game for $1 and I'm thinking of getting Just Cause 2 because it's so taxing of a game, but I could also probably get it on PS3 for cheap soon. I dunno. The OnLive selection is alright, but the video quality is meh-ish and I can notice a little bit of lag.
I've been crazy addicted to My Country on Android. It's kind of slow to load and it makes my phone crash. But I'm addicted. :(
I bought FF8 a while ago over PSN months ago and I just stuck on the second disc trying to beat Cerberus and then I stopped playing, but, after reading a very vague strategy online, I had the least likely to win battle ever and I destroyed him! Squall (who, per the strategy had all of the magic including dispel) and Quistis both ended up under berserk and the only thing I could do with Zell was attack. Six limit breaks later, I won somehow. And then I got lost and died at the boss battle immediately after. :\

Uncharted 3!!!
Oh how I missed Nate and Sully. By far one of the most fun, best written series out there and pretty much the only thing making a PS3 worth owning when it comes to console exclusives.

I don't know WHAT to play because I just have so much stuff to play right now...
Battlefield 3
Bastion
Costume Quest
Tales of the Drunken Paladin - Hobotropolis
Tropico 4
And I downloaded Sonic Generations for some reason, eventhough I never liked Sonic games.
EDIT:
Also, I'm pretty sure I've said this before, but "Contra is the most bro-ifying experience you can have".

I'm having a lot of fun with DC Universe Online. No idea what the end game content is like, but since it's free to play now, nothing lost if it gets boring. Either way, it's a good way to kill time until Skyrim.
