It's really nice seeing Goto with them, though. I always wondered if she kept in touch with them once she didn't see them at the company anymore, since she never seemed too close to anyone.

I imagine she walked up to the backstage entrance and there's this big bouncer guy there and she goes right by him with one arm outstretched, aimed at his face, and without facing him, she just whispers "I run this town" as she walks by, but somehow the bouncer hears her perfectly. Those words become etched into his mind. He hears this every time he attempts to assert any authority. The faces of those he bounces are never the wiser; he never flinches, never falters, but he always hears those words. They've impacted with his brain and left a crater where only internal struggle can reside. Eventually, the bouncer wonders if he's ever lived a life where those words don't overpower all other though. He would discover he has not.

Wow. I'm having a hard time processing all this. 8 new girls and no Ai-chan. That clip of the four new girls being introduced at the concert was my first video glimpse of the three who aren't Haruka--Let's see if I can remember their names: Haruna, Masaki and...I still haven't memorized their last names or the first name of the other one. And I still don't know 9th Gen's birthdays. I'm really behind.



I put in the Spring 2004 MM Best of Japan Concert last night to remind me why I signed on to all this in the first place. There's nothing like it. Still a masterpiece.



And it just occurred to me that Ai-chan turned 25 a couple of weeks ago and I didn't take note of it.



And ditto on Petit Melon's reaction to those amazing photos.

The other one you failed to mention was Ayumi. Take note of her because she'll be having herself a dance off with Riho in the near future I'm sure. For note Madara, Ayumi was a backup dancer for a Sendai based Idol group called Dorothy Little Happy. (I linked a blog that goes pretty in detail about the group.) They debuted as a major idol group through Avex right before the earthquake and as you know that's where the earthquake was. She's the only one besides Haruna with the most experience.

Haruna's speaking voice is eerily similar to Eripon's. Also, I didn't notice that Masaki's speaking voice sounded like that during the auditions since she didn't talk too much. It's definitely a voice I'll have to get used to. What did she say though that made the other members start squealing like that? I assume it was cute.

That's reassuring news about Ayumi, PQ, and I will take note. It's taking a while to get used to this whole sea change, but I am kind of excited about it. Eight new girls in one year is a big change. But I kind of think that's what was needed, Turtle Moves notwithstanding.





@Miss Moonlight: I've seen ALL the concerts, except for one or two of the very earliest (from 1998-2000), which I've only recently identified as unseen. I've bought them on DVD or VHS from Japanese stores here in New York or on-line from CDJapan. The one I cited was one of the earliest I saw, bought (on VHS) only a week after discovering MM six years ago.

It seems that throwing the stuff into the crowd was Ai's way of saying goodbye, she wasn't ever really any good at speaking her mind, but you can see from her performance, actions that she was genuinely upset to be graduating and wanted to say thanks and good bye.



I'm one of the few people who was a fan of MM before Ai joined and as many times as she says thank you to us, the fans, we must say it back to her a hundred times.

The cry on command test from the 9ki auditions ruined their goodbyes for me. I skimmed through their part and then watched from Aika on. Sayu was hysterical playing on Kanon's line. Genius. I bawled during Risa's goodbye.



Not that it's any of my business, but I wonder if Sayu is a t.A.T.u.-style lesbian or the real deal. Didn't she once brag on her blog about getting naked with Eri?

Sayu likes cute things, although when it comes to Ai, she can get pretty gay. During some of the goodbye stuff to Ai she talks about how Ai has a sexy body and a cute butt. She creeps on the kids because she genuinely thinks they're cute, but I'm pretty sure she'd bang Ai if given a chance.

I think that those girls really were sad - Riho had a breakdown that they didn't show in that video, so I think it was more obvious it was real to people at the concert.
