So... I'm seriously contemplating going. I vaguely mentioned the idea to my boss and she encouraged it, so it might not be that impossible after all. I'm still waiting to hear a bit more detail about the schedule, buuut...



Is anyone up for sharing hotel rooms? I'd be willing to carpool with someone too, but so far it doesn't sound like anyone even vaguely near me is going so I'll probably end up flying =/ The airport is unfortunately kind of far from the convention hotel though =(

If you can find out how much hotel rooms are, I might consider going. (We could even split the cost of a taxi or something to get there.)

The main hotel and the secondary hotel are apparently booked up. Overflow hotel prices are here. Most are much cheaper than the main hotel rate, but involve figuring out how to get to the con every day =/ The one good thing is that there's a shuttle from the airport to at least the Renaissance (main hotel) which is $33, much cheaper than the estimated $55 for a cab.



Man, I really do not miss all of the hassle involved with con-going.

1/2 a Mile from the Con doesn't seem like a horrible walk, depending on the weather. But the prices don't seem horrible, especially if it's split. I think my main problem is flight, I'll have to work on that, but I have a whole month (or two) to scrimp and save.

You might want to go ahead and book your hotel room now - when I went to book last week a lot of them were already sold out. Most hotels allow you to cancel up to 24 hours in advance without any penalty, so it doesn't hurt to have a room just in case.



PQ and I are sharing a king suite (one king bed + second room with a couch bed) if you'd like to bunk with us and save money. There might be one other person in the room and you may end up with a makeshift bed on the floor, but if you don't mind any of that we're open to sharing. Would you be driving or flying?

I think this is awesome! Even if lots of us aren't big anime convention people, it looks like there will be lots of BBS people to hang out with, so we'll all have a good time in any case. I still only plan to buy a con pass for one day for the concert, but I'd be happy to hang out more on the other days.



Would anyone be interested in hitting the aquarium or checking out K-town as a group? (For anyone who doesn't know, Hotlanta has the largest aquarium in the world. It was pretty great the last time I went, which was years ago, so I'd be super into checking it out again.) Also, I'm not big on karaoke personally, but I can suggest some good spots with Japanese music if other folks are into it.

I bought a con pass for all three days, but mainly because I had no idea what would be going on when with Kikka and I want to be able to just pick it up and not stand in line too long. Other than Kikka related stuff and maybe giving the dealers room a once over, I don't care about the rest of the con stuff so I'd love to check out all of those things :D

I am totally cool with crashing on the floor, though. In all likelihood, I'll be driving in.

If it's not trouble to wait, I'll let you know when it gets closer to the time! I won't leave you hanging on it too long/close to the date, of course.

HEY GUYS GUYS GUYS Okay, I think I may have cracked the code to Atlanta. So here's the way my schedule is set up:

Work:

MTW

MTW

TFS

TFS

MTW

(repeat)



Atlanta falls under the period of time AFTER my seven day break between MTW and TFS of the next week. If I ask the other half of my job to switch shifts, I would work 3 MTW shifts in a row (and not get my week break), and she would work 3 TFS shifts in a row. The problem lies with the next week. I need the Monday to come back from Atlanta. Under the normal work schedule I would have it off.



BUT



That means she would work TFS off Sunday work MTW. Which is pretty shitty.



I could ask if she wants me to work TWTh which means she would be off 3 days in the middle of the week BUT she would work 1 day off 1 day work 1 day which is a pretty shit thing too plus she would work another weekend (that would mean she works 4 weekends in a row)



I'm asking for help because if the proposal is shit I doubt she'll agree, but I reallllllly want to go. :weh: Any other alternates would be appreciated.

I'm confused. Do you absolutely have to work it in 3 days in a row at a time? You couldn't just trade one day with her? For example, you would normally work that Mon-Tues-Wed and she would work Thurs-Fri-Sat. You need the monday off, so she could work Monday for you and in return you could work Thursday (or one of her other days) for her?

We don't have to do it in 3 days straight, we just normally put it like that because we get 4 days off in a row that way. (Except on the week we double up so we can have a week off and still make our hours) They're 12 hour shifts, so it's a looooooong day and it's why I'm so worried about exactly which way I want to ask her to switch, because it gets really tiring pulling that many shifts in a row. I've done it before for months on end at my last job.

So, I'm 99% sure I won't be going to AWA at all. Which sucks because two of my friends have booths or panels and I would've liked to visit them.



I have a cake delivery tomorrow that I'm not even sure of the time on, but I'm pretty sure it's in the morning. I'm looking at a potential all nighter tonight too.



Suggestion: one of my favorite restaurants is very near the Cobb Galleria. It's called Umezono. If you guys wanted to meet there for dinner or something I'd be all for it!



I wanted to maybe poke around K-town but I really just know bakeries/restaurants there, and it's 20 minutes or so from Cobb Galleria. There is a Japanese karaoke place there I can recommend... last time I went there I met Vince Vaughn and he was thoroughly enjoying himself, so I guess that's two positive reviews on the place. I don't know if I'd join y'all because I SUCK at karaoke, but I know TnB likes karaoke so. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' />



I know PQ is leaving early on Sunday, so I figured staying near the con might be the best option. Let me know, if you can. PQ has my number.

The concert today was short but lots of fun. They didnt empty the ballroom between concerts, so we went in and sat through the seiyuu concert before her. I started in the second row, but after some of the seiyuu fans left i got ushered up to the front row center because I'm short xD She sang Koko Kara Hajimarunda, Hapirapi Sunrise, Darling to Madonna, Tan Tan Taan, Romantic Ukare Mode, Daite Hold On Me, Konna Atashi de Yokattara, and Kikkake wa You. She was having trouble hearing the music during a lot of it (it was pretty low) and she messed up the lyrics during a lot of songs, but she sounded great. With the music low you could hear her really well and she's just as good live as on CD. And Tan Tan Taan plus the two covers! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' /> That was a pleasant surprise. After the show she made another appearance at the booth to do signings, so I bought another photo set and had her draw a silly face on herself xD she took a second group picture of all of us there, hopefully both end up online. So far there's a few side angles on her managers twitter but none straight on :/

I just wanted to say thank you guys for getting me an autographed photo and for understanding my sudden cancellation. I'm on a new medication and the side effects are really kicking my ass (plus I had hardly any sleep Friday night), so I was so nauseated and drowsy I could barely walk around my house. I just ended up laying really still all evening text-whining to people. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hahaha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hahaha:' />



I demand detailed reports! Detailed! I kind of comforted myself by saying it'd be a pain to try and meet her anyway and I'd have to deal with crowds, but I saw fan cams of how dead her booth was and how simple it would have been to actually talk to her, and I got really bummed out. My plane came in early so I arrived home around Noon. But I ended up going down to our towns local heritage festival instead of going home and crashing. I already feel myself coming down with the conflu, must make it go away!



Not being the biggest fan of Kikka, she was however my favorite of the Eggs so seeing her in person was pretty awesome. My friend and I helped TnB get all the photos signed for people. Around my third time, one of the workers asked how many times I'd gone through and I asked her, for today or yesterday since I couldn't give her a answer. I then told her I was getting photos signed for friends and Kikka heard me and kept saying Friends. She was like a cute little robot that repeats English words. I should have gotten her to say Massachusetts. That would have taken her days to figure out. But since I don't know any Japanese, I was stuck to saying Hi and Thank You many times.



Anyway, I liked the concert and I'm sure my ugly mug will be plastered all over the internet now but I don't care. I saw Kikka and she sang Romantic Ukare Mode! All is right in the world!



Kikka's also has a great sense of humor. They should throw her on some shows or something. My friend, who isn't into Jpop of any sorts was even amused by her antics. It was cold in the Q&A room so the guy, who I assume is her Manager, gave her a red blanket. She then later in the panel during one of the many questions about a food related topic, stuffed it in her shirt and stood up. I'm sure TnB could explain it better then I could, but it was rather funny to see.



Kikk'a such a good sport though, she was very professional 100% of the time and genuinely seemed happy to be there.



I also suck at photo taking, so this is the extent of my good photos.
