Hello!Online and JapanFiles.com partner up
H!O article
Apparently JapanFiles is the liaison for H!P in America and H!O is the leading English H!P fansite. So far, it sounds like their partnership will lead to "exclusive" interviews (like one with H&A soon).
I thought H!P selling music at JapanFiles was the equivalent of buy those Starbucks bottled coffee at the grocery store, but I guess it's a big deal.
Thoughts?

Err... so does that mean no more torrents? It's kind of strange Japanfiles is trying to sell mp3s when they can redirect to H!O and get the single for free.
We should get interviews on the basis we're the only sane H!P board out there. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/hmph.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

We don't rely on other companies to fund our board. We're total rebels. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... omgwtf.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

That's a good question. Let's take it a step further: if H!O kills its tracker, will it still be the "leading English H!P fansite"?

Re: Hello!Online and JapanFiles.com partner up
I just thought about this, so pardon me if it's a stretch, but I would think that the tracker would stay up. Someone in the comments pointed out that the JPF files are US, Mexico, Canado sale only, but the tracker is used by users world-wide. Also, do you remember the short video some MM girls were in a few years ago where they were talking about a boy one if them liked (fictionally) and they said he like Morning Musume and one of the girls suggests downloading some songs and then it looks, semi-deliberately, like they illegally downloaded the "Aozora nanananana" from RAINBOW 7 and then they sing it and they walk away? That makes me think maybe UFA is lenient on torrents?
Re: Hello!Online and JapanFiles.com partner up
From H!O
From one of the mods.
So the tracker isn't going anywhere at this time. Interesting that they will be working with H!O to promote with interviews etc.
(Although really, they just said the tracker is staying, no word on H!P singles/albums etc)
If you read the article you would have saw this line: "Of course, Hello!Online will also continue to have all the unique site features you're used to."
So lets make it clear. "H!O will continue to have all the unique feature"
Meaning the tracker is not going anywhere and that torrents will not be censored.

Re: Hello!Online and JapanFiles.com partner up
Tracker goes down or starts censoring uploads, new one elsewhere goes up. This is not a hard concept to grasp.
Good for them and for Japanfiles, though. Not everyone pirates just because it's free, and if given a reasonable option (like with this partnership, hopefully) some people will go legit.
Dear Japanfiles: I said it before, and I'll say it again- sell H!P CDs and include a free instant download of the mp3s while the CD ships. Do not make this a bundle that sells more than just the CD by itself, because if this is the case then no one will buy it. Make it a bundle for everyone who buys the CD and don't charge extra for it.

Even if the H!O tracker didn't upload their singles, someone else would eventually rip them and post them to another tracker of some sort. Wouldn't be the end of the world for me.
I actually think it's kinda cool that they are doing this team up, and look forward to the interviews and whatnot.

It's kinda funny that they are doing the cross-over thing now when H!P is at it's crappiest, your 5 years too late JapanFiles <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Their website looks pretty tacky X_X and for anyone who's been a H!P fan long enough will already have all of the good oldies music/media.

I'm waiting patiently for JapanFiles merchandise section to open. I'm hoping for some CDs, DVDs, or something. Anything really... it's been empty for awhile. D:

Of course they would. The question is, would H!O continue to be the "leading english language fansite" if it didn't have a tracker? I say no, but it's apparently a moot question as it seems they are going to be allowed to keep their tracker.

I agree, and it'd only be a matter of time. The number of forum users is still huge, and it'd dwindle over time.

Yeah, sounded like a bad joke to me.
That's like EA sponsoring Rapidshare. lol
