Dana Hanna updates his Facebook and Twitter, at the altar. Without his bride Tracy knowing he was going to do it. I’m sure she was thrilled:

I surprised not only my guests, but also Tracy by pulling out my phone and posting on Facebook and Twitter from the altar during out wedding. I had her phone ready in my pocket, so when she asked for it I could hand it to her. No one knew about this except the minister, and myself.
(This must be the worst and most depressing and hope-depriving article ever posted in this section, but other than that, keep them coming. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/nono.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':nono:' />)

I will echo Aine by dropping to the floor and flopping around like a dying fish... just like the internet should be doing when this kind of shit happens.

It was funny for the first few seconds when he was updating his relationship status, then everyone realized he was actually updating his relationship status for the rest of the minute and stopped laughing.
I like that he treats his wedding like every other mundane experience that winds up on a twitter account.

This section is empty, but finding something more depressing than this will still be a challenge. I will attempt it later.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeah. Twitter is disgusting enough as it is and I really don't give a flying shit about marriage and don't really care if someone were to do something different during their wedding, but this just shows the utter pointlessness of twitter. It makes people feel like other people actually give a fuck about what they're doing on a minute-to-minute basis. Facebook status updates are similar when over-used, but Twitter is just plain out of control. This is a whole other discussion for another time, but this honestly doesn't surprise me or shock me at all, but the title of the article Petit Melon linked to sums my thoughts up completely.

Watching the video, I thought it was cute! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':nono:' /> Maybe a bit silly and inappropriate for the moment, but as long as no one is upset it's all good~

That can apply to pretty much everything internet-related. There's really no difference between Twitter and any BBS or any other social network when it comes right down to it. If you want to nitpick, driving off in a car with JUST MARRIED is essentially the same thing.

There is quite a difference in the frequency that people over-use Twitter. Same idea as a BBS or other social network, but the community that (over) uses it is where the biggest difference comes in.

I agree with you on that.
Twitter is for the worst kind of attention whores.
I'd also destroy all the useless crap like facebook etc.

Ok, attention whore was a bit too much, but is your life really that adventurous that others need to constantly know what you're doing ?

And on the other side of that, who's subjecting you to her, or anyone's, updates? I love how people can complain about things that they're really not subjected to unless they choose to subject themselves to it. If things like Twitter & Facebook are "useless crap" to someone, why should anyone be bothered by other people's enjoyment of it, especially to the point of calling for it's demise?
And honestly, no, nobody's life IS that adventurous, but electronic media & it's outlets aren't going anywhere anytime soon & people like to feel like they're a little more important than they really are. But still, unless you're going through people's profiles & twitter accounts, there's no way you'd be subjected to any of it's content outside of the occasional news item like this.

I don't give a shit about what an idiot celebrity thinks. However, I do facebook my friends and family -- people whose lives I AM interested in keeping up with. I'm not interested in weird escapist gossipy adventure via facebook....um, I just sometimes want to know what my friends are up to. Plus, facebook enables you to upload and share pictures, videos, etc. It might be annoying if you think about those people with 500+ facebook friends...but then again, I am not one of those people.
Twitter, however, makes no sense to me.

Facebook is so useful for keeping in touch with people, organizing events for school, and stuff like that. All the extra crazy stuff is extra, thankfully!
Some celebrity twitter accounts are really fun to read. Or funny people in general. Everybody else? It's just an extended version of your facebook status updates. Don't care~

Because I constantly hear and read about it.
twitter here, facebook there, it's like people just can't chat or call eachother anymore.

But, you know, that's what people said about text messaging and IMing. Hell, I remember saying why text when you can just call someone or why IM when you can just email. It's not like it isn't all the same stuff anyway.

Exactly. I mean, just take a look at the Members Territory section here & you try to tell me how that's different from Twitter or Facebook. If you need a break from "constantly" hearing about those services, you could try counting up the posts all over this bbs that are 160 characters or less. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... stling.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
