Pucchi Best 10

Post by tsukinobyouin »
Hurry up and leak the new Pucchi Best 10 tracks...
Your wish is my command!

Go here for a full-length preview of High-King's new song DisneyDestiny Love.

I like it, though I can't particularly say why. The silly pronunciation of destiny is kind of distracting, but otherwise I think it fits them and all of the girls are well used. Of course Ai and Reina lead, but the other girls aren't totally neglected. At least not Maimi and Yuka, I don't pay any attention to Saki.

Hopefully more previews will be out soon!

Sounds ok, maybe I'll like it after hearing a few more times, not sure... but one of the kid's (either Shimizu saki or Maeda Yuuka, I don't know at all what they sound like) voices doesn't fit this song at all. It's so kääääh sounding.

I meant the CD leaks should appear.

The new Mini Moni song is very crazy, and brings back the Yaguchi-ruled Mini Moni,

but it does so in that sort of "gently strolling through a castle made of cake" way. Plus Tsunku making goofy noises.

Of course, with more synth effects since every revival has to have this.

I found a sample on musico

PEN PEN PEN

PEN PEN PEN

PEN PEN PENPENPEN P-P-P-PEN

I can't wait to change the order of these songs, they just tack things on and there's ZERO flow (MY BOY followed by Otome no Inori?). You can especially tell how rushed it was because the elder stuff is just at the end like a last minute Joshi Kashimashi mix, right after S/mileage who used to be on TNX, very subtle!!! It would have been hilarious if Mari's song was next to Mini Moni's.

DISNEY LOVE is horrible and boring but Penpen Kyoudai sounds AWESOME. But I'm not sure if it's something I could listen to on a regular basis. I have a feeling it'll start to annoy me very fast.

I love Aa's new song the best, and PucchiMoniV's song sounds waaaaay better in studio than it did live. Umbrella is nice. Shin Minimoni's song is pretty awesome. Linlin really reminds me of Mika... I think it's just the accent, though? For High-King, Maimi and Saki both sound really good. Normally I don't like either's voice very much. Yuuka still sounds way out of place.

Details, details. But yeah, that should happen too because I can't tell anything from these musico previews. It's like iTunes previews, where you get the most random 30 seconds possible. Tanpopo's is almost entirely instrumental =/ So far I think that the Pucchi Moni song is really annoying, the Mini Moni song is eh, the Tanpopo song is weird, and the Aa! song seems promising. My opinions will probably completely change when the full songs are out though.

I can see why Pucchimoni's song would be considered annoying, but I've been addicted to it since I watched the concert DVD, so it's impossible for me to even consider that this high-quality version I'm listening to would not be good. Unfortunately though, the DVD has made me imagine the wota chants as part of the song. The Tanpopo# song doesn't lose any charm even when you take the plaid hats away. Also, PEN PEN PEN PEN PEN PEN PEN PEN PEN PEN PEN PEN.

I loved all of the revival songs, but now I'm really curious about what they'll do for Viyuden. Probably the rock style of Viyuden. ZYX, with Risa as the Yaguchi (now that Koharu is gone), I expect to be funky like T&C Bomber. My favorite songs on PB10 were by Aa! & Pucchi Moni V.

夢と現実 / あぁ!

I love how the percussion sounds mechanical, like robots working in a factory. The choreography compliments the robotic sound beautifully, especially with the "dekoboko arm shape" thing. The Castlevania-like guitar intro is cool too (haha, by a Konami arranger of all people!). This song is hilarious with the echoing GYUAH-UNH! and then the YAHOO! throughout random lines. I thought the full PAUSE toward the middle was really cool and a nice touch to something that would otherwise be a fairly standard format. My favorite parts are "Setsunai wa- Setsunai nai YAI YAI" & "Nakitai na- Nakitai YAI YAI YAI". The chorus is cool too. I hope they get some singles next year. I do like Buono now, and this is 2/3 similar, but the attitude is different.

ピラッ! 乙女の願い / プッチモニV

The Parapiraparapora line is as absurd as I could desire from H!P. (wait, I haven't gotten to Mini Moni yet) Now that we see that Mano can be off the wall, I hope they don't hold back on some of her album tracks. I generally love Hirata's arrangements, so I'm not shocked about this being so fun and crazy, but I'm impressed with how well he translates a more current H!P sound to fit with Pucchi Moni.

アンブレラ / タンポポ#

It's like the Tanpopo song you would expect, but it was revived by a bunch of androids. When it rains, androids need umbrellas more than anyone! I love the synth and the lasers, not to mention the REQUIRED trippy background vocals doing the "ah~ah aaahhh~" part. The delivery of the lyrics is perfectly Tanpopo, and they even titled the song after a Tanpopo accessory. They wanted us to be sure this was a Tanpopo song, and no one else's.

*The only thing I could possibly say against this song is the random MC making noise in the background (the "GO!GO!GO!GO... OH OH!" part that is best heard during he instrumental break or after the intro). it's too faint to really be a problem, but so faint that I question its purpose in the song. What does everyone else think of it?

ペン ペン 兄弟 / 新ミニモニ。

In addition to the insane amount of PEN! in the lyrics, I'm really happy they managed to put PYON! in it. It's hilarious to look at the repeated katakana, like someone was making ASCII art on a Japanese forum. Cute era Mini Moni, with sweet voices. I can seriously imagine Yaguchi in this song. Cute Mini Moni, yet there's still a bit of R&B mini moni beat with synths in the background and the weird vocal autotune-ish effect. Then it has the fun guitar of the sort of transitional Rock&Roll Kenchoshozaichi Mini Moni (1st single with Takahashi). So this covers everything! Also, this wasn't the 1st Tanaka Nao arranged song to use "PEN" repeatedly, Tensai! LET'S GO Ayayamu had it.

DESTINY LOVE / High-King

This would be a lost track from How to Use Sexy, except it's missing a dripping sound effect.
OK, 4th album gets... 12 tracks, wait no, that bitch is jumping to AVEX! (in a fit of anger, Ima ni Kitto IN MY LIFE is also removed from the album) *gets rid of the plop sound, throws Destiny Love in the H!P vault next to Take off is now & Guru Guru JUMP. note: Do not release these until 2009
Yes, the group is cleverly named after them, but I really only notice Takahashi & Reina. Sorry that the other girls were basically Kousui'd as the rappers. (cept poor S/mileage girl who gets 2 lines total) Something about the rap makes me think Jun Jun & Sayumi need to do that part -or that it sounds like them? I always love the piano in Tanaka Nao songs, and if any of the groups were to get a slower song, I'm glad it was given to "TAKA-REY".

The only shame is that with all of these great songs, there isn't a single PV. Kind of a waste. Maybe they'll have a change of heart in some future money hungry release. Like after they have Viyuden & ZYX songs, to tie everyone of H!P together.

-------------------------------------------

I noticed some interesting things about the arrangers of the sub unit songs.

Hirata arranged the Pucchi Moni song, and before his H!P days, he worked for Konami (maybe he still does songs for them, not sure) and he's credited for a few DDR songs.

The original Pucchi Moni had Chokotto Love as a debut single which was turned into an English language DDR song, known as Petit Love, and the Pucchi Moni V song has "Petit Love" as a repeated lyric.

Tanaka Nao was responsible for the Shin Mini Moni song. It's cute Mini Moni like Yaguchi intended, but there are still hints of the "gangsta" mini moni created in late 2003. Who was it that arranged Crazy About You, the first introduction to that style of Mini Moni? ...Tanaka Nao.

Slightly less interesting note, but Hirata & Tanaka were there only 2 arrangers for the "unit-revival" songs and they were both used for the Shoganai Yume Oibito single. (which was the single chosen for Pucchi Best 10)

After hearing this album, I only wish that the songs here had been released prior to the champloo album because they were much better reintroductions of the groups. Although I eventually warmed up to many of the the wedding songs, these ones didn't take any warming up - it was just instant love.

Pira! Otome no Negai is one of my favorite things to come out of H!P... It's totally addictive and after hearing it once, I couldn't get it out of my head. And they all sound great, even Mano whose voice is notably weaker, sounds cute. Maybe it isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea, but I love it. Definitely brings back the old wacky H!P feel. <3

Yume to Genjitsu is the first time I was impressed by Akari's vocals. She was always pretty forgettable in shugo chara egg and I thought she would stand out against strong vocalists like Miyabi and Airi, but she fit right in. I really enjoyed the music to the song also.

Umbrella is a little weird in the music department but I really like it. I still find the vocal combination a little strange, but nobody stood out as sounding bad. Also, it is nice to hear Chisato getting to sing something non-unison, so that's cool. The song brings back the old Tanpopo feel, too. I can just picture them twirling little umbrellas to this.

Penpen Kyoudai, certainly sounds like a minimoni song. This one group where I think Tsunku did a good job choosing the members. I can't listen to this song too much because it gets under my skin, but once in a while it will be cute. And really, that's all I want out of minimoni anyway.

Disney Love, I enjoyed, but yeah, the pronounciation was pretty distracting. I like the song otherwise, but I think line distribution was a little unfair, it was quite even amongst members in the other songs, but here Yuuka gets practically nothing. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whatthe:' />

I wish that Zoku Biyuuden and even Zyx a had gotten songs too though. Maybe kick off some of the crappier songs on the CD to make room for it (Mari, Mai, Koharu.... Yours can go. )

Anyway, Pira was definitely my favorite, but I'm thrilled about all the new songs really. Not a single one I didn't like.

There was room, that was absolutely NOT the issue. The issue is... UFA's greedy. Those songs you mentioned were tacked onto the end, they weren't priorities for the album. (except for Koharu's solo, but she was graduating the next week, so obviously it was going to be included.)

I just hope that since Viyuden was an actual main group, they'll get a single release (or several). ZYX with all of it's dropping members, will seem more like ZYX, if they don't have a release until 2010. (they probably broke the 1 MM girl leading the "youngins" pattern because they knew Koharu would be out of it before it would matter.)

As much as I hate the fact that everything wasn't there at once, putting 7 new songs on a compilation CD is not smart business. Sure, they could have released a shuffle mini cd, but then PB10 would probably sink to hell. Just look at the DVD version's tracklist. Yeah, exactly.

Making a Shoganai Yume Oibito ~Let's have a Dream Mix~ or Nanchatte Renai -CRAZY SODA MIX- wouldn't even save that CD.
