Thanks for the link. My first glimpse of Mizuki. I like her already. Definitely a game-changer. This is like 6th Gen all over again and she's roughly the Miki counterpart. Only these other three look a bit more ready for it than Eri, Sayumi and Reina did when they first came out 7&1/2 years ago. This will be interesting. A whole new era begins.

I think I'll really like Erina for some reason. She's definitely got that little sister vibe Tsunku was looking for, and I'm happy he found it in her instead of Mogi.

I really liked that, it showed alot on it.I'm really starting to like Kanon now, she looked so cheerful when talking.I do think they all will make a good MoMusu with this lineup It was nice to see them walk through the crowd first then go on stage, it gave fans a chance to see them before stepping foot on stage.



I really liked seeing Riho when she met Tsunku (part one) she looked nervous IMO.

Further thoughts after Bijo Gaku:



1. Riho is adorable. You can actually see Sayu instantly falling in love with her as soon as she came onstage. Also, she has a cute little scar between her chin and bottom lip.



2. Erina seems like a sweet girl-next-door type. I now approve.



3. Kanon reminds me of a slightly less crackheaded version of Koharu, and that's still enough for me to dislike her. Also, her singing sucks. I will try not to loathe her, but she's currently dead last on my current member list.



4. Mizuki seems to be a sweet girl, is a pretty good singer. She's okay in my book. She doesn't look 14 at all.



And those new S/mileage outfits still suck ass.

Second Impressions



Riho : She's so damn perfect, there HAS to be something wrong with her. D: What is it? She can't sing and dance at the same time? WHAT? WHAT IS IT!?



Erina: When she saw Kanon sitting in the room, that was cute. She looks prettiest when she's not smiling. She's growing on me, but just as long as she isn't smiling.



Kanon: She's got the mannerism of a Makoto but the smile of a Koharu and the eyes of a Mano. It could work given time and a lot of styling. I just hope someone sits her down and tells her the meaning of the song before she sings it. I can see her maybe taking on a boyish role.



Mizuki: Mizuki's audition footage was uhm, interesting? She shouldn't have picked that song, she can sing better then that but oh well she's in. She's the big sister of the group I'm sure.

Riho's out for blood and wants no part in making friends just to be #1. But put the idol goggles on and she was SUPER nervous and was probably a little unsure of what to do, you know cause she's only 12? Oh and she was super best friends with Mogi. You can tell because they kept showing clips of them together. And she's really sad that she and Mogi couldn't be the new Tsuji and Kago of 2011.

I want better. Especially in terms of personality. We already have good singers and dancers in the group and they're boring and obnoxious as hell.



There's always a pessimistic side of myself. I am afraid of this possible turnout: Kanon becames Makoto: Starts off with potential but puts on weight, turns butch, always shoved in the background. Riho becomes Reina: Gets leads in every single, never really quite improves with her vocals, becomes extremely full of herself. No personality development. Mizuki becomes the next Girl Who Is Talented and Grossly Underused: Need I explain myself? As for now, I have no idea what will happen to Erina. Maybe the next Sayumi (ugh), who knows.

Thanks for the clips. Erina became somewhat more likable ... her reaction to seeing Kanon was really sweet. It's been way too long since they've added someone who isn't a complete fixer-upper. I'm excited about Riho—and 9th gen in general, enough to make me want to talk about it for the first time in years—but they're still screwing up my mental hierarchy. As someone who's always had trouble enjoying watching the kids (though they're really not kids anymore), I'm having a hard time reconciling the fact that when the inevitable slow graduation of the existing members is complete, Morning Musume as a whole will have less age seniority than all of Berryz and C-ute. I know Tsunku has been adding 12 and 13-year-olds every generation since Maki, but this is the first time an entire generation has crossed that line.

I have no idea why, but Erina reminds me of Fumina Hara. I'd like to see her become some sort of classy beauty, and not some cutesy, pink bowed, child-woman.

I keep hoping for Mitsui to take that position. She has the kansai-ben and the spirit of an old lady. All we need is some young kouhai calling her an obasan.



I love all the new members. I wish they had shown their reactions when they found out they passed the auditions.



Riho is adorable, cool and confident.

Erina seems friendly, but very nervous atm.

Kanon is cheerful and has guts.

Mizuki is sweet and mature.



It seems like they chose a good balance of personalities.



Chisato as center in C-ute. Yurina as center in Berryz Koubou. I'm hoping they'll do the same for Morning Musume and have the next single be less Takahashi-Tanaka focused.
